  1. Cool. They've been really busy the last few weeks. I loved the enthusiasm the ex members showed when playing at halftime of the K State game.
  2. How can you say that KindDL1's post is "not true at all", when he was just passing along what was said to him by Texas Tech fans, and says as much. You, on the other hand, claim to present "facts", but provide no source. So, we're supposed to simply believe you on your word? Does anyone here know you enough to vouch for you?
  3. Do you honestly think we could compete with this one thread on the Tech Forum: All things Mike Leach
  4. Here's something from the local newspaper in that part of Indiana that, I think, gives some insight into the guy: Justin Frye: "Coaching Show" in his future? I kinda wonder if Coach Mac isn't looking for guys who have an emotional and spiritual commitment to the game of football that comes close to matching his. Anyway, just think of this: someone has to give a young guy a chance, just like our most recent OL coach was given that chance (and responded well, I think).
  5. I'm only throwing this out there because I thought it needed to be said. I don't think Chase Baine will be our starter, but I felt like I was seeing a different guy from the one we saw against Arky State and FIU, when he came in for Riley in the last few minutes of the K State game. He had me convinced that we still had a chance to win, right down to the last play, when his hail mary got intercepted in the end zone. It was what he did before though, by getting us in position to make that throw, that impressed me. And before, I didn't know if he had the arm strength to throw the ball as far as he did. It definitely made me think that Canales can coach up quarterbacks.
  6. I agree about his arm in terms of time at UNT; I only saw him in one high school game, and it wasn't really a high scoring enough game (they won like 22-21 over Euless Trinity) to tell much. I did feel like in the game against Troy, he seemed much more aware of throwing the ball away when nothing was happening, and wondered if that was how he was being coached, so as to avoid unnecessary risks.
  7. He was certainly given credit by Canales after the WKU game, as well as a game ball. Given the circumstances, I think he did very well. Hopefully we won't have a situation like we did right before fall camp with a key assistant leaving for a better position. And it's hard to blame Leftwich for leaving, given the way things have played out.
  8. It's kind of sad that, with the world class College of Music, as well as the RTF program, we can't have people handling events who set up the audio properly.
  9. I'll never understand how we've gotten to this point, where people who are certainly old enough to know better think it's ok to talk through whoever has the podium.
  10. I am now fully on board with the McCarney hire, and looking forward to seeing the kind of defensive players he can recruit in the next couple of months, especially at DT and corner.
  11. The guy's had a huge week, and a hell of a lot of work to do in the days to come; maybe it felt good just to watch some basketball.
  12. I just heard this today from a coworker who referees basketball in his spare time, that Donna Capps is coaching for Mesquite Horn girls basketball team. There are Internet articles about it, but I couldn't pull them up for some reason. Sounds like someone resigned last summer and she took over. Maybe she still just wants to coach. Here's a link: Donna Capps coaching Mesquite Horn girls BB
  13. I still wish Derek Thompson's name would stop showing up in the participation report. I guess it's really the other #7 (Jamaal Wilson?).
  14. +1 from a geography major, and I wish that those who actually put conferences together would look at a map while doing it (electronic or paper, I don't care).
  15. +1, Mark, and I know you (and yes, I also) would have liked things to go differently. We'll all be behind the new coach. Really we just want someone who can win, sell the program, and not cause US any embarressment.
  16. Many of us have no use for him, and yes, he's "that" Mike Nelson.
  17. Do you think he'll keep Mike Nelson as D-line coach?
  18. And we do have some solid receivers to go with those two solid QB's.
  19. Whoever it is needs to recruit defensive tackles and cornerbacks.
  20. Seems like some of the UF fans want him to start rebuilding our offense by bringing some UF offensive assistants here with him.
  21. ??? I'll say one thing about Chizik; y'all managed to get him out of town. Honestly, though, if McCarney gets us to winning starting next year, we'll all like him.
  22. +1, and that's really the one thing I totally don't get; I mean all candidates had some baggage, but Fran's problems seemed behind him and his record on the field completely convincing as far as turning a program around.
  23. Damn, I was thinking, once I saw Riley leaving the field and showing movement, that his main thoughts would be about winning the game. What a tough kid.
  24. I think the ISU guy saying Mac would get us to a bowl in 3 or 4 years told us all we never wanted to hear.
  25. +1, and I don't know if you heard in the post game where Dunham was quoted telling Canales that "you beat us tonight".
