  1. I watched parts of it on TV, switching back and forth between it and the Cotton Bowl. Very entertaining football, better than the Cotton Bowl matchup, in my opinion.
  2. So, he can pass, run, and punt; does he also play receiver and defensive back? Local Coverage of a Lone Oak game
  3. Dwight Dasher is just not a dual threat quarterback, since he really can't pass the ball. I think he did a lot for MTSU at times, but became a liability on and off the field this year.
  4. Well, I hate to see Riley go; he was exciting at times, and let's not forget that he was QB for the few games we won in the last 2 years. I'm sure he wouldn't care for this being said, but I'll say it: I'm glad he was quarterback for the games after his father left; it gave him a chance to stand on his own and show his stuff, and he redeemed himself well.
  5. Well, something about that "1800" vehicles seemed miniscule in terms of the numbers we've talked about in the academic and government environments in which I've been around, but it can sound impressive when quoted out of context. If you look at a traffic count map of that area though, it just doesn't seem like that big a deal, when you zoom into the area on the linked map and look at traffic counts for the mentioned roads of between 1100 and over 3400 daily. You have to look at a legend and explanation at the top of the map to see what the various numbers mean, but it's fairly obvious that the lower traffic count numbers are taken 10 or more years ago. Remember, they'll usually try to take these counts on work days, so game day traffic (assuming that all or almost all those 1800 would take a route through Denia Park) would basically just be replacing commuter traffic, but spread out over a longer time period. 6. If there's another newspaper somewhere that pays attention to neighborhood associations, I'd be surprised. If this investigative journalism could be replicated in Dallas, the HOA's and Condo associations could quit putting out their own newsletters (yes, I know, they're mostly online these days). Honestly, Vito sometimes has information I want to read, but I'm just thinking about failing to click those links to his stories.
  7. Really, I'm more happy that Army won that that SMU lost, maybe because I was in the Army once.
  8. Well, I noticed this guy right after Lefty went to Tulsa and was thinking he's be a good one!
  9. The Rivals site also has the HS DT's listed. I did notice we have an offer extended to Johnny Hubbard from A Maceo Smith (in Dallas).
  10. Why not just be defensive about it?
  11. I hated it when I was leaving one of these games and a local kid on a bicycle asked another one if the Mean Green lost. Can't we all just get along? Why not kelly green vs hunter green?
  12. Should we revive this thread next August?
  13. Or, if they are from Denton instead of from somewhere else, that is just as good. I don't advocate recruiting Denton over any other city with successful football programs, but neither do I want to write off the possibility due to the standard reasons we've been using why that won't work. There are a lot of reasons that can go into a young man's decision as to where to play football, and it never hurts to make an offer to someone who can help your program.
  14. However you got here, welcome!
  15. I also noticed that he was honorable mention 4A all state. My link
  16. All that fighting you guys used to do has really helped you bond.
  17. Hey Brett, hang in there. You know we're all pulling for you. And let's hope and pray this on behalf of all the Mean Green Nation in the coming year: no more serious injuries!
  18. I thought he looked capable the few times he did run. Our problem is we'll compare every qb's mobility with Riley's, and you seldom see that in a quarterback. What Brent seems to have is a pretty quick release, and great accuracy. I think he'll do well in a Canales offense. Let the competition begin.
  19. Looks like the kind of guy we need.
  20. I posted a link to an article back in September about that plane crash: Online article about Wichita State football team plane crash It was an interesting read, as is what NT03 has posted about Evansville.
  21. He should buy in Denia Park and win the hearts and souls of his neighbors to North Texas Football.
  22. When I read this, I was thinking "Director of Football Operations" as recruiting coordinator? Then I did a little internet search and found this, leading me to think, "hey, this guy might be good for the job": Scotty Conley bio I am wondering though, will this count against the number of full time coaches, and will he still be "Director of Football Operations"?
  23. Well, I'll say this, having seen him at the game against Arkansas Shiloh Christian, supposedly the best team in Arkansas. Like all our other backs, they couldn't stop him. Not sure if he scored once or twice. The manager in our office has seen him go up against Lamar in some scrimmages before he was on the Trinity Varsity, and said they never could catch the kid. Honestly, I'd like us to give the kid a shot, not that he'd be a starter for us, but am pretty sure he could make some guys look foolish trying to tackle him...of course, we've also got Brelan Chancellor to do that.
