Tomorrow Could Be A Very Good Day In Unt Land
eulessismore replied to Adub4ever's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
I'm now thinking it does have something to do with conference membership, because of this wording: "but if the stars align just right for UNT". To me, that is indicating multiple variables, such as the "musical chairs" nature of conference realignment. In other words, something like one school changes conference affiliation, leaving an opening which we could fill. -

+1 to get you back to even, and I do plan on being there Thursday night, Feb. 3 for what, FAU? -

Another +1 for you, because I was thinking that same thing earlier; he's out to get us sporting some wood, we're just not sure what that will lead to. -

Any other conferences meeting? -
Well, I wish I could take credit for doing anything other than following the thread where Gman1022 and Grayeagle were talking about Chris Henderson, clicking on the link to his rivals page, and then clicking on where they show "similar defensive tackles" on the right. It had to be the blindest of luck that, an hour before Laxtonto posted about Josh Hunt of Duncanville decommitting from Wake Forest and verbaling to UNT, I navigated to his teammate's page and, as you may recall, asked "does anyone know anything about this guy?". I will say that once I had the great fortune of shaking Mean Joe Greene's hand after the Troy game this last season, I concluded that those, such as Lifer and Grayeagle, saying that what we need are guys who come into the program as defensive tackles, are correct. Of course, we all know that Mean Joe had the intelligence and determination to do what he did, but seeing him up close impressed on me what pure natural physicality he possesses. And I have to agree with Grayeagle about Cantly also; quit trying to make a DE out of him, and let him play DT (our manager at work and his wife have connections with Cantly's family through Arlington Lamar, and he agrees with this). I guess the message is, "get you some defensive tackles, and let them play defensive tackle". Here's to a couple more good ones in this class!

Well, the folks at Montana State were understandably disappointed when he left, mostly regretting the loss of his ties to Texas recruiting. What's amazing is that, when Vito published the new salaries for head football coach and assistants, that he was at the low end. I'm thinking that with Dodge getting gainful employment at Pitt, some additional money may be available, and that Gaines may get some of it. However that we do it though, I'd like for UNT to come up with enough compensation, and soon enough, that we can keep him around for a while. Any travel expenses he's incurring look like money well spent!

Man, none of the zippered ones I saw at the bookstore just before Christmas? I was going to use a bookstore gift card on one.

How can someone quit when they never played for us? Maybe a nonstarter?
-
I've never seen any evidence that football conferences have a map in the room when they're discussing these things.
-
Well, he looked impressive there.

Does anyone know anything about this guy? Terell Brooks, Duncanville DT, Rivals He was just listed under "similar players" when looking at Chris Henderson. Other than looking great in combines, not much out there. Mostly however, I'd like us to get in the running for Jamichael Payne, out of Auburn, Alabama. I'd hate to see WKU get him and us not.

Chancellor Jackson Discusses Tier One Drive On Kera
eulessismore replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Harry, I've read that link before, and I think the one I posted for the NT Daily correctly states that enrollment has been postponed until the Fall 2011 semester, for classes to being in Fall 2012. Also, it mentioned the difficulty being experienced in hiring the right dean (and I'm sure it would require someone willing and able to take on a tremendous challenge). And I agree with the university spokesperson that's it's more important to do it right than to do it fast. -

I've heard credible rumors that the work on remodeling the old Municipal Courts building for the UNT Dallas Law School campus simply came to a stop at some point after budget cutbacks/priority changes by the City of Dallas in the fall of 2009. It seems there's been little news about the proposed law school lately, and I'll see if I can find out anything as to any progress. There were certainly some news items about changing the location of classes for the startup to the UCD building, but since it was being used for other classes during the day, that the law school would start up as night classes only. Here's something from the NT Daily last summer; looks like the first class is projected to start in fall 2012 now: NT Daily on delays for UNT Dallas Law School -
Whatever mix of Juco and HS for: interior linemen, both sides but mostly DT, one corner who can handle man coverage, one big play receiver. All capable of starting by some point in their first year.

Chancellor Jackson Discusses Tier One Drive On Kera

If anyone is really interested, this will be shown again at 10:30 tonight on Channel 13. -
Yes, the ACC has struggled against the FCS Colonial Conference lately. Still, I think it was probably true last year what people were saying about the Big East being the weakest among the AQ conferences. What the ACC schools need to realize when they schedule against the Colonial Conference is not to be overconfident; as Virginia Tech and Virginia learned the hard way.

Get this guy in green. Kids in Wichita Falls all want to be in Denton.

Sorry to interject, but found this from the Waco media (Kinne was a Baylor assistant, and played linebacker there), so this was Kinne's second year coaching there. I guess he had time to get to know Whitfield. My link

I have disagreements on some of his policies, but he does seem competent, tough and determined to better the lot of UNT. -
I'd say we now have excellent depth at rb.

Sorry to read too much into a name; honestly, I'm looking at highlight videos, such as are available, of these guys, not photos so much. Anyway, I'm cool with the South Pacific Islanders living in my neighborhood greeting me with "good day, my brother".

Is he from the same family as Zach?

+1, and it's great to hear this from you SUMG. You're not one to candy coat things, so it makes it special to hear this from you!

I was just checking out Vito's blog "teasing" us about the assistant coaches salaries, and he mentioned Quintaro being on a visit to see this guy in Houston (Northland Christian according to the article). He sounds like a good one. Here's a link: Kevin Robertson, receiver prospect from Northland Christian

Riley Doesn't Appreciate Being Called A Quitter
eulessismore replied to Keith7's topic in Mean Green Football
Amen, brother. And the man depicted in your avatar? I had the great good fortune to shake his hand after one of the games this year; I've never met a more impressive man, and I've met famous politicians and infamous music stars. He never was and never will be a "quitter", but he left North Texas after his junior year to go pro. In so many words, he said, "I was a math major, I looked at the numbers, and that was what was best for me".
