This thread is just to show how desperate we are for fall camp to start. Which true freshman do y'all think has the best chance to make the 2 deep on the D-line?
-
I want it to be big enough to see the replay clearly, but not so big as to lead to people watching the video instead of the game on the field (like at the Cowboys Stadium).
-
+1 to you, as well as Spencer and Coach Mac. You're all good guys in my book.
-
Wow. The only area in the student section that's close to being filled is where the band is sitting. I hope that one new tradition is a stadium filled for every game.

25 Best Marching Bands In The Land
eulessismore replied to JuanA.Nuñez's topic in Mean Green Football
The best band in the land will sound even better in the new stadium, with inevitably better acoutics than the old stadium. Things will just get better in ways that we haven't even thought of yet. -
We Got Bin Laden
eulessismore replied to CMJ's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Hey, I'll give you the plus one on this one. It's odd how much time and effort the major parties spend attempting to satisfy the most politically vocal of their "supporters", who begin talking about withholding said support when their goals are not the highest priority. I'll never be liberal enough for my sister in San Francisco, or conservative enough enough for one of my best friends now living in Little Rock. It's amazing how much the average person just wants a decent economy and to be left alone. -
Well, congratulations, sir!
-
I know that even to say this is wrong, but I can't help thinking that we should maybe all just get a bong.
-
Wow, glad I got here before midnight. John, thank you for everything you've done. You embody the Mean Green spirit we should all aspire to you. And I do credit you for putting pressure on the UNT administation to get the UNT Symphony Orchestra referred to by that name, and that name only when performing for the Super Bowl Kickoff event. I think that may have been the last Super Bowl XLV event that got all positive publicity (and mentioned more prominently than Tim McGraw and Van Cliburn). Uh, sorry I didn't get this POSTED before midnight, but anyway, Happy Birthday and many more!

Which Mac Defensive Recruit Will Make Big Impact
eulessismore replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I picked Brooks because (1.) he plays a position where we lack depth at DT (2.) he already has the physical attributes for the position, and (3.) I picked him from an internet search and put his name on here as someone we might consider before I read (the next day) he had committed to us. I hope he makes the two-deep, but am still betting on Tevinn Cantly and others already on the roster to start next year. -
Mccarney Putting His Own Twist On Unt Spring Game
eulessismore replied to All About UNT's topic in Mean Green Football
Let's hope and pray it will be new turf. How many here were wondering if last year's rash of injuries was partly related to worn out turf? -
My guess: If any disagreement occurs between the current DL coach and the current head coach, the history of Coach Mac as a DL coach will trump any history of Coach Nelson.
-
I kind of wondered whether once in her doghouse, anyone ever got out.
-
Well, now that Schaefer(?) has done all that he can do as an assistant coach in women's college basketball, maybe this is the right time for him to come to Denton.
-
Hey, in that area, consider who they have to recruit against. And yes, there is always lot of recruiting going on in high school, and a lot of it legal.

This was great news, about 2 months ago; it is still great, but not really "news". My link

The Libyian Situation
eulessismore replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Well, you and the events folloring my original post in this thread, actually changed my mind on this one. I was in favor of letting the Arabs handle it, but for various reasons, including the ones you've mentioned, that wouldn't have worked. Rather than take a partisan view, I've chosen to decide that the recent events have proven Reagan correct about Qadhafi, or however it's spelled, and hope the current coalition finds a more permanent solution to him. I only wish the best for the U.S. and Allied military personnel who are actually doing the fighting. Although, it's easy enough to think this will be a "turkey shoot", nothing is as easy as it first seems, and nothing is without risk. -
Dang, I've heard the two page resume has gained acceptance, but this makes me see why some organizations have a "no resume" policy: Every detail of Stephens’ plan was spelled out in “Destined for Excellence: Path to Success for the University of North Texas Women’s Basketball Program.” The 29-page binder that included 16 sections separated by tabs included her practice plan, coaching philosophy, recruiting strategy, and thoughts on the best path to academic success for the Mean Green, not to mention her resume. Lined up neatly along the top of the full-color cover were pictures of members of last season’s UNT squad. Those attributes were all bound in a neat and organized package, one that convinced UNT officials that Stephens is ready for the challenge she is about to take on at UNT. After taking a quick look at the binder, it’s hard to disagree. “It’s a work in progress,” Stephens said of her book, one she does not plan on using again — at least not as a resume. “I won’t need it again. Ever.”

Texas Tastiest Bbq
eulessismore replied to Baby Arm!'s topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Well, Metzler's does have an excellent sliced brisket sandwich. Get some beef battered onion rings to go with that. And I still love North Euless Main Barbeque right here in Euless. People come here from all over the DFW area for it, so they must be doing something right. And yeah, some say that Angelo's ribs are better than North Euless Main's; maybe so, I just haven't been there. -
The Libyian Situation
eulessismore replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
+1, I'm agreeing with you on this one. The Arab League saying we should enforce a no-fly zone, at this point, is just saying, "let's you and him fight". Besides, we have another nightmare we're invited to, called Japan. I guess in Libya, an American boy might die a quicker death than someone with radiation sickness. Of course we want to help, but helping lately is getting much harder. The common thread is the search for energy. -
Well, you may want to explore the outskirts of Denton, like drive 15 miles or so to Ponder, to eat at the Ranchman's Cafe. Chicken fried steam smothered in cream gravy, followed by your choice of pie (a la mode of course). Tell David, the owner, you know Dwayne, and the cold drinks will keep coming.

Had A Thought About Our Future...
eulessismore replied to Side Show Joe's topic in Mean Green Football
The St. Patrick's weekend isn't over until midnight Thursday. -
UNT has the World's first or second largest college of music in the World (depending on whether or not you want to call Berklee a "college") and the World's greatest college jazz studies program (ever heard of the 1 O'Clock Lab Band?), and a first rate performance venue across the highway from the new football stadium in the Murchison Performing Arts Center. The College of Music's Jazz Singers are performing on Friday night, April 15 at the Murchison; you would never regret a night spent at a concert given by student musicians at the Murchison. As someone mentioned (yes, at the football tailgating) the next day, last year's homecoming program given by the UNT Symphony Orchestra (headliners of the recent Superbowl kickoff event), and eight selected vocal soloists was as good as anything you'd see in New York City. Better in my opinion. If you'd like to go to something like that, send me a PM and I'll advise you on seating. I know lots of other cool things to do in Denton (spent 4 happy years as a senior there), but a concert at the Murchison is a must for the Artsy. And there's always music going on in various Denton venues of a weekend, if you prefer the more popular genres. My wife is an artist, a BYU ex herself, who loves Denton (and Denton has loved her back at times), so we also know a little about the visual arts scene there as well.

I trust the new staff basically they are experienced coaches from winning college programs. Last year, just seeing the difference in performance with the same players compared to them being coached by Dodge and coached by Canales made it abundantly clear how much of a mistake hiring a head coach from the high school level was. There's just a different career path for college football coaches compared to high school, and next year we will see the benefits of that show up in the won-loss column.
