  1. Hey, most of the students are late teens, early twenties. If this is the worst thing they ever do in college, their parents should be in whatever church they can find tomorrow, expressing heartfelt thanks.
  2. My understanding is that they have very good facilities, especially their athletic center, for that level of school, and are the most qualified FCS school in terms of such a move at this time. I have family through marriage in NC and would travel there to see us in an away game if we ever played there. Check out their facilities on the Appy State website Yeah, I know, they have a track around their field.
  3. Hey, sorry to reply to my own post but, a couple of things: 1. "The" Weather Underground was a radical movement that in the late 60's and early 70's was active in attempts to overthrow the U.S. Government by force. Since I was in the U.S. Army at one time, I took an oath (still in effect, as far as I know) never to engage in such activities. On the other hand "the" Weather Underground" is a site that came online in the early 90's, and remains active in getting more and better weather forecasting out to Internet users. I suppose it's ironic that they do so by selling advertising, or charging fees for those want it advertising free. 2. Things are now starting to look more favorable for rain at game time, but on a positive note, it gets more likely later in the evening, making the kickoff time change look better than it may have previously.
  4. Here's the weather site y'all need to be watching. No need to get in a panic over exaggerated chances for rain or overly generalized forecasts, this gives it by the hour, and at 3 days out, we're getting into a time frame where forecasts have some chance of being accurate: Weather Underground Saturday forecast And for those of you who weren't attending the FAU game at Apogee, here's what was happening; not much before the game was over (can you really believe what Vito was saying about weather being all that much of a factor?): Weather during FAU game Oh, and here's the Denton page for the Weather Underground site; check it out for yourself and see if it doesn't beat getting your weather information from a sportswriter or anyone less informed than you will be: Weather Underground for Denton I'm just hoping to avoid having to read all that about weather being a prime reason for folks not to show up at Apogee, unless maybe it provided a convenient excuse for sitting in front of a TV at home watching the Rangers. Does anyone remember what the conditions were like when a pretty large and loud crowd showed up at Fouts to watch us play Ohio during a monsoon?
  5. That's great, to hear some good news for one of the good guys!
  6. So, does this pretty much kill the possibility of that "TBA" scheduling thing ever working for us?
  7. But then we'd lose our leading receiver at this point.
  8. Having lived in Seattle for a year in the late 1970's, I could hardly believe what I was reading about the deterioration of that program (I think the word "decrepitude came in) during the Wllingham regime. I'll never forget the look on the players faces on a photograph taken around the end of their winless year. Losing does things to people, players especially. But I think Willingham is a good example of how someone who was right for one program (Stanford), and was right the first year at another (Notre Dame) before being the victim of high expectations in the second and third, but was really horrible at another from beginning to end (Washington). I kinda wonder if someone shouldn't tale a page from Bill Walsh's playbook and do an analysis of coaching hires at Stanford, including to do; hire Bill Walsh, not to do, hire Bill Walsh again. One thing to remember is that it's not just the coach, it's how they fit in with a particular school at the time.
  9. +1. With guys like you and Kram1, there's no reason the fan support part of this thing can't get turned around.
  10. This. And I have been wondering as to the extent the current staff understands that issue. Still, recognizing a problem and being able to fix it are two different things.
  11. I hereby adopt the leading wide receiver for last nights game, Ivan Delgado, just to see a players name spend some time on the first page of this board in a positive way. Heck, the guy has actually improved in some statistical category in each of the last 3 games. He has a nice vertical leap and puts forth some noticeable effort. The guy has HEART. So, whovever mentioned in another thread that someone needs to show up at wide receiver should have noticed that one guy has!
  12. Well, I've heard it can that way on back to back plays for cornerbacks.
  13. I did notice the stats showed 4 tackles for him.
  14. +1 NT03, and I certainly feel that I have posted (if not started threads) where I should have more critical of the coaches than the players, who after all are put into games by the coaches and are given the plays to execute by the coaches. If anyone looks at the history of college football programs, head coaching hires can be seen as the turning point, one way or another, for many, if not most of them. Of course, Mack Brown looked like a lot better coach when Colt McCoy was playing QB at Texas. All That said, maybe we should have been more realistic about our prospects for this season considering the players who graduated or otherwise left the program during the offseason.
  15. You're a good man Tony. I just don't get where people get on this board get off talking about why they (or someone "casual fan" they claim to speak for) can't attend a North Texas football game. I followed Rangers baseball through some miserable years; I don't owe them my time when it's not a determining game in the series. Being in front of a tv watching baseball compared to being at Apogee watching football? Come on people.
  16. Hey man, great #3 post! And did y'all notice that the fans who WERE in the stands were having a great time?
  17. You're a woman with your priorities straight.
  18. +1, and more if I could. This makes me not feel bad about having quit following the rangers 30 or so years ago, after becoming convinced they would never win anything, and that they had no serious desire to do anything except be part of the things to do when you came to the area to visit Six Flags (something about them trading Sammy Sosa for a bunch of guys noone has ever heard from since). I mean, what is it about baseball that makes them drag out their season to where they're nothing but a distraction to the national pastime of football? And scheduling playoff games during the day on weekdays and nights on weekends? Couldn't they just let the BOYS of October finish up their games in September, like back when it was a man's game, instead of the pampered, overpaid, media darlings of today? Sorry for the rant; I am convinced the Rangers finally decided to care about winning. I'm also convinced that the Mean Green have decided to care about winning, to the point where we should care about attending...UNT football games.
  19. As soon as we're playing in the little big howevermany conference, our alumni and students will be a lot more motivated to attend games.
  20. I've become a big fan of Ivan Delgado, but hadn't heard his name before last week. It was impressive how high he went to make the catch he did tonight; I think he has a lot of heart.
  21. Could this be a ploy to make other teams overconfident? Sort of "anti smack talk"?
  22. So, did anyone attend, listen, or otherwise have anything to report from this?
  23. I thought James Hamilton was our quarterback who can run.
  24. For every rule there's an exception.
  25. That's the one part that still seems odd to me. That is all.
