  1. Cool. Still tied at half, 13-13. As bad as Indiana has seemed at times this year, I think their new coach, Kevin Smith(?) will get them to winning ways. I have felt for a while that the Big 10 was overrated.
  2. Two things: (1.) I sure hope you're right, and (2.) I'll have some of what you're having.
  3. Is this for real? I thought we had a contingent saying "let the coaches decide who plays qb (since they will anyway). And I have nothing against the young man (hey, he should want to play like anyone on the team), I just disagree with the coaching decisions that have put him in these situations.
  4. If we ever open the season there, I'm combining an away game with side trips to Balmorhea State Park (largest spring fed swimming pool) and the Marfa Lights Festival, followed by dinner at the Limpia Hotel dining room in Fort Davis (operated by a UNT alum and her husband). Easy drive from there up to Van Horn, where I'll try another historic hotel operated by said UNT connected people. Has anyone here mentioned that we should support other UNT folk in their business endeavors when the quality and value are there? If a game there is in November, I'll substitute a side trip to the Guadalupe National Park for the Barlmorhea swimming hole and the Marfa Lights (its McKittrick Canyon has maybe the prettiest hike in Texas). Bonus: West Texans are some of the World's greatest people (yes, you can find some other UNT exes out there).
  5. bitch gives me the creeps
  6. I have given that some thought lately, I can't decide which of the two groups to complain about.
  7. We'll be glad to have you visit; you'll find that we are overall a friendly bunch, with great food and music. The women here are beautiful to look upon.
  8. I just see the whole thing as similar to Fouts vs. Apogee: move out to move up. Yeah, who knows when we'll figure out Tulsa, but I would take our chances against Memphis, Tulane and UAB year and consider ourselves lame to write down Rice and UTEP as unwinnable. I mean, compare travel to Memphis to what Hank and JubJub were talking about from Jonesboro; two cross country bus trips could be eliminated from each away game. And, although AkStateFan seems like a nice enough fellow, I just have no desire to see their team, which seems (at least) borderline dirty, or their fans, in Denton or there. And, how many can answer where Monroe, Louisiana really is? Why is one of the Florida teams Atlantic and the other International. In a way, I just kinda wish, being a geographer, I could be more locationally tolerant.
  9. Well, maybe it's just me, but I thought it was considered a good idea to rotate D linemen, keeping them fresh and helping morale.
  10. damn, some reason DT's don't want to stay?
  11. +1, but I thought C.J. Wilson just about pitched through the first guy he faced tonight.
  12. And it's hard to feel bad about someone hanging 70+ points on Rice.
  13. I don't see where this is posted anywhere on GMG.com (pics taken by David Minton of DRC), but there are 25 pretty good shots here, mostly of the game, but also of the Homecoming parade and general gameday scenes: DMN pics of UNT/ULM
  14. Once Coach Mac attains the notoriety in the football coaching world that Roy Orbison did in the pop music world, people will think of DMac, not Roy, when they think of people always wearing dark sunglasses.
  15. Things like that remind me that you're from the Wichita Falls area. On a more serious note, I was listening to the Hard Line once, and one of them said that the other had "North Texas" or some abbreviated version of that tattooed on his taint. For some reason, it seems like the taint is a body part more discussed among North Texas folks than one might expect.
  16. Yeah, I'm not going to say who it was directed at, but I'll never forget one of Villarreal's staredowns from the field. Uh, yeah, it was our coaching staff our fan was heckling.
  17. mmm, cute girls. my wife says no txt 4u
  18. Why did they quit that thing where one band member pulled a wagon with a battery powered amp for either an electric bass or electric guitar? Yes, of course, another one marched in front of that one, playing the bass or guitar. I think this was in the early 80's.
  19. I hate to quote Darrell Royal, but he is credited with saying "A confused team can't play aggressively". Could even the most determined frat killer stay focused on his task after pondering the taunting of a punter with "you'll never get in this game".
  20. Yep, Harry and Evan are really great guys. I've met them both, and they've both been very nice to me! They're real people; the ones running those other boards, do you know they really even exist?
  21. I'm thinking pretty coeds driving golf carts with a flat bed.
  22. +1, and you have said what many of us here have been thinking lately.
  23. My adopted player, Ivan Delgado, had another good night, with 56 yards on 3 receptions, including a key 36 yarder to the ULM 37 that helped set up the 3rd quarter touchdown that gave us our first lead at 21-14.
  24. I don't know how long you've been following the program, but are you aware that during the 2005-2007 seasons, we totalled 5 home wins, with no more than 2 in any season, and in the 2008-2010 seasons we only won one home game, on Halloween in 2009, against WKU during their first (and winless) FBS season, and in 2010, when we won 3 games, that none of those were at home? Just looking at the numbers, we've averaged 1 home win per season for the 6 years preceding this one, a maximum of 2 in any of those years, 5 for the first 3 years of the 6, and 1 for the last 3. At this point we've won 3 home games, the most since we won the Sun Belt Championship in 2004, with 2 home games left. If that doesn't convince you that it's ok for the fans to show some excitement, at least you could consider the possibility that some of us may feel justified in seeing this thread you started as the most asinine possible after last night's win.
  25. Well, since they had beaten us convincingly for the last 3 games, I wasn't surprised that nobody I talked to was wanting to come right out and say we would win. Yes, we have thought this is a program we should beat, but they have been remarkably uncooperative.
