  1. First off, congratulations on marrying a North Texas lady; there are some great ones, for sure. That said, I'm conflicted about the whole hatin' on SMU thing. On the one hand is one of my fellow students at North Texas who graduated with a bachelor's, went on to SMU law and a brilliant career while remaining the nicest fellow you could hope to meet. On the other hand is the experience from the only game I attended there, (in a very well attended game BTW) when afterwards, seeing an older SMU alum in line next to me at a nearby cafe, I said to him "good game". He said nothing, but looked at me as though I were a steaming pile someones dog had just left on his perfectly manicured lawn. I actually still think it was a good game; just wish our center hadn't snapped the ball over our quarterback's head when we still had a chance to win late in the game. But hey, welcome to the board; here's hoping we'll hear from you after we put a good whipping on the ponies next time we play. And those OL guys? I like the ones we replaced them with better; they're the hard working type we need. And I'm actually kind of sorry for y'all seeming to be stuck in a bad marriage with your head coach, but happy to see the support for an inner city ministry coming from staff of a school that people say is so snooty and elitist. Oh, here's something that will just kill some folks from both sides to think about: our series coming up may be the best attended home games of those years for either school. At least you'll get to see a great marching band, and a stadium full of folks who use the correct name for your school.
  2. Good find; others who have left have either entirely (Marcus King), or mostly (Jordan Scoggins) dropped off the Internet as we know it. One more thing as I scrolled down was noticing that I'm happy enough with the OL guys we signed, Rentfro and Trussel, to the point I don't miss those who didn't really want to play for us. I predict 4 or 5 happy and productive years in Denton for both of them.
  3. Well, as the Beatles wrote in "She Came in Through the Bathroom Window"... Oh yeah.
  4. Suck on that, Mayan Calendar.
  5. Eli deserved MVP honors for that game, and should be considered to have passed his his own brother in stature after tonight. Still, this game and the entire Giants season should stand as an example either that anything can happen, that a team should never give up, or both. Interesting the mention of people saying in November that Tom Coughlin should be fired.
  6. Welker not making that catch seemed impossible, so I'm thinking anything is possible, including UNT over LSU in 2012.
  7. It was really hard to believe Welker not making that catch.
  8. Well, there you go. A recruiter has to sell the program, and Mac was known for recruiting Texas long before he came here as a coach. That Texas recruiting acumen was what a newly acquired in-law told me about last summer, a Hawkeye fan who sometimes plays golf with Hayden Fry, so I tend to take him at his word. This Hawkeye fan's wife was coach Mac's high school English teacher back in Iowa City, and her opinion of McCarney was not so charitable. Strange how two people so close could have such a different opinion of someone they both knew. But, hey, Nancy was glad to hear that Mac's career was back on track and that he had remarried, and many of us had those critical English teachers, looking back. My opinion of Mac may be different from yours; I honestly think he can make the right things happen here, so I guess I also have some of that faith. Yes, I'm glad he's a salesman; I'm kind of indiffererent to whether he has sold Vito, few people really are objective if you listen to them. North Texas is a great product; we do need the great sales staff.
  9. I liked watching his video, thought it was much better produced than most I've seen, and more important, showed a guy who keeps going till the whistle blows. I thought his stats were good; 5.1 40 is pretty good for a guy that big. But did anyone notice his grades? GPA of 4. Good that he can hold his own academically; plus a center needs to be smart.
  10. Those aren't scholarships, they're appointments.
  11. These women are really showing some heart.
  12. I have been suspecting there may be a variety of reasons a player may/may not want to grayshirt/redshirt, family problems requiring their presence back home, not ready to leave girlfriend/best friend just yet, or possible medical issues you mention. We may not need or even want to know all the background.
  13. A lot of us have wondered how Troy and them got away with this, maybe we'll get the chance to see how it's done close up.
  14. I agree; and I wonder if the backup quarterback strategy is to build a good enough offensive line rotation out of this and last year's classes that we can keep our starting QB (yes, cheering for DT here) healthy and productive.
  15. I have nothing against SMU transfers if they're like Julian Herron. So, does he have 1 or 2 years of eligibility left?
  16. These kids will blow some people up.
  17. I consider this excellent news. I can remember Martin playing Euless Trinity in past years just looking like boys against men. They have played big in adverse circumstances lately, and Haboul has been among their best. I hope that, along with Trussel's verbal, this indicates a pipeline being established with Arlington Martin.
  18. Vito says we have "maybe one left": Vito late Sunday wrap
  19. I'd like to check out Beale Street, maybe sample the barbeque.
  20. Hey, if Lifer, Harry, and Vito all agree, that must be true: Vito story on Feldt transfer Hey, this class is looking better already!
  21. Is that correct, that Cam Feldt has to redshirt this year, after sitting the required year as a D1 transfer?
  22. I wouldn't be surprised if we use him at wr.
  23. His coach says he's "faster with pads on" Fans player of week video.
  24. +1, I've been thinking the same about Walling; I really think we'll like the OL players that do sign
  25. If we're not working on ways to actually FILL Apogee stadium for every home game, we're doing something even worse. We don't need them to bring as many as Army, Navy, or even KSU, but they need to bring more than FIU or FAU. I like going to a game where there is crowd excitement, and yes, some of that coming from the visitors' side. Honestly, if we consistently get crowds of 30,000, I'm ok with 5,000 of those from the other side. Let's get the attendance numbers higher before we start talking about who we don't want to be in the stands.
