  1. I'm not sure I understand; isn't Akunne an outside linebacker?
  2. Darn, sorry to hear that about Ladner; I remember last year seeing him on the sidelines working to get the crowd involved. I was glad to see him getting those carries, and thought he looked impressive with what he was asked to do. It was interesting reading about Ladner last year; anybody thinking there aren't still hard working folks in small towns and in the country should look at his story.
  3. Bones (Malone) would agree with you.
  4. This is a great story, and I still think Brown will come out of the running back by committee as the leader in yards and tds.
  5. That's when we found out that Darius Carey was actually faster (as TheTastyGreek pointed out).
  6. Well, that's good, especially with Cantly day to day.
  7. Yep, thanks.
  8. Honestly, after listening to some lady on the ticket predicting an SMU win (no reason given), I'm not putting much faith in the local sports media right now.
  9. You gotta be kidding about D2; you sure you don't mean FCS (formerly D1-AA). Maybe playing D2 sounds like a sure win, but don't forget that their lower academic requirements result in some very talented players at that level. Who was the great transfer we thought we had a couple of years ago who ended up playing at a Lone Star Conference school, maybe Tarleton State? Talk about a no win situation.
  10. I don't think there is such a thing as "officially redshirted", just that upon entering a game for one play "officially unredshirts" someone. Hey, just think about Derek Thompson.
  11. So, the video was from the Missouri State game? Winner of 2 games last year, and predicted for a last place finish this year? I hope we get a Heisman candidate against TSU next week. I'm still pulling for Jeremy Brown!
  12. I agree; week 3 is the new week 1.
  13. It's great having DT 90 here to point out what's really happening with the D line. I hope Ryan is getting healed up and will play soon.
  14. Yeah, let's not forget what it was like last year with Thompson out; let's pray he stays healthy.
  15. Yeah baby, we got Abbe Lincoln, vampire hunter.
  16. Uh, have you talked to Houston about that?
  17. Of course I want our D linemen to have a great year, and that may yet happen. I don't think we should be too harsh considering who we were playing, where, and that they were facing the offensive strength of LSU. Also, there were a lot of 3 and outs before our O started doing enough to give our D a breather. Also, I expected to hear that we were rotating more on the D line, but it didn't seem like that was happening. I'm wondering whether that was intentional, as in "keep our starters in there", that LSU was coming to the LOS too quickly to substitute, or if the choice of players for the travel squad kept some (McDorman, etc.) at home who might have gotten some playing time. I'm thinking we'll have a better picture of all this by game 3. The first two matchups seem like too much of a mismatch one way or the other. I really got tired of hearing about what kind of award whoever among the LSU linemen was up for.
  18. It's ok for message board posters to think like this, but hopefully, our football players and coaches won't assume it's even a win.
  19. Houston is missing Keenum and Sumlin more than people thought they would.
  20. He seems like a nice enough fellow, but honestly, it was just smart to take the knee at that time. Bad things can happen in the last few plays of a game.
  21. I was wondering back when the penalties they received compared to the death penalty whether that the way things have turned out will be more unpleasant for Penn Staters. I think this may be worse than no football, but time will tell. And yeah, Ohio is probably better now than most people think.
  22. I hope you still have it!
  23. Well, Middle and FAU playing each other next week should leave one of them feeling a little better. We think we have it tough, but FAU playing Georgia (6) and Alabama (2) in the following weeks sounds a bit overwhelming, after scoring 7 against the Valkyries or whatever the Wagnerians are called.
