A casual reading makes it look like contacting a UNT assistant coach would be the best idea, but no casual reading of NCAA rules seems sufficient. I guess that's why schools have compliance officials.

Vince Vaughn on Gameday-I just spit my coffee out
eulessismore replied to TheColonyEagle's topic in Mean Green Football
I think in Ruston they're thinking: Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb bomb Vince Vaughan. -
I guess I'm just not getting this whole defending one's home town thing. I actually had to view getting drafted into the Army when I did as one way of getting out of Wichita Falls. And I certainly viewed using my VA benefits to attend college in Denton as a good way of staying out of Wichita Falls. Heck, I don't even think Lubbock holds it against Mac Davis that he wrote "Happiness is Lubbock, Texas in a Rear View Mirror", but maybe they just didn't get the lyrics. And, don't get me wrong, I love me some folks in Wichita Falls, especially my family. Still, I can completely understand why almost nobody in my family is willing to drive to this DFW area to visit me; the whole place is overwhelming to them. If we look at things honestly, pretty much every city or town in the country has some things to admire and some things it's residents would like to forget. My original home town of Petrolia is a place whose people I just love, but a place to which I could never return to live. I think one good thing to remember is that people don't usually like to hear negative comments about their "family" from those outside it, no matter how critical members of said "family" are to each other.

Football happened. Why are you still here?

I certainly admire what UH has done football wise in recent years, especially after all the really poor showings they had for almost all of the 90's, and really didn't do much in the 2000's till Briles 3rd year in 2005. So, hey, they hung in there for some tough times. And I'm sure most Houston fans who have any sense of history appreciate that North Texas helped them get started in football back in 1946 by helping extend an invitation to the Lone Star Conference. And I appreciate that, at this point, Houston and North Texas have an even won-loss record. Those fans from Houston I saw at the Apogee opener seemed nice enough to me. So, what's this thread about, other than belated smack talk from some trash talking entity who self identifies as "Cougar King"? Perhaps that is someone who never played a down of football or did anything of note, but wishes to live vicariously by trolling opponent message boards and insulting fans of a school that has, off the field, been rather kind to the school he proclaims to speak for. Maybe that one person is just someone to be ignored (until they show up here with another name at another time). Perhaps, if or when that happens, said individual will have grown from the education they claim to be getting and have something thoughtful to say.

Attendance on national TV on the 15th..,

I'm starting to like you, Tornado man. -
+1, and pretty much what I was thinking. If they're scoring on every possession without pressing, what's the point of playing conservative defense?
-
Fortunately, we don't have to play all of them. Unfortunately, we have to play Tulsa and La Tech.

Well, just a disappointing game. On the positive side, more receivers are getting the ball, and Jeremy Brown is getting better all the time. Still, what happened to our defense tonight? Hey, rain or shine, I'll be there for a week from Tuesday night, will take some vacation time and know I'll have a good time with good friends. I'm wanting 3 aspects of the game to show up that night, and...Go Mean Green.

I think the OP was about the 5 games between the Dodge and McCarney eras.

I'm gonna let you finish but I wrote a recap
eulessismore replied to aztecskin's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't want to give up on Thompson, but want to see Osborne mixed in with him (kind of like Troy does at times with its backup qb, but for more plays, and used enough that it's not obvious it will be a pass when he's in there). The overall point would be to score more points. I really think this could help Thompson by giving him a breather and a chance to talk with the coaches on the sidelines about what to do when he goes in next. -
Defense Comes Up Big In UNT's 20-14 Win over FAU
eulessismore replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Glad others are agreeing with me now; Brown has genuine speed (I've heard second fastest on the team after Chancellor). Getting 2 passes to him tonight was a good start. And the guy wants the ball. -

Yes, he certainly wanted that win in the worst way, and there was no quit in his team. -
Never miss a chance to be on Broadway.

Defense Comes Up Big In UNT's 20-14 Win over FAU

I'm happier all the time. I just realized how that winning is now considered possible, even expected at times. There was a time that wasn't true. -
Our offensive output tonight was impressive

My favorite Darrell Royal quote, "old ugly's better than old nothing". -
In the second paragraph about the WVU Baylor game, acknowledging that UNT-Navy still holds the record for most points scored. Here's the link: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-dr-saturday/133-points-west-virginia-baylor-shootout-ages-204604005--ncaaf.html But hey, we won a game tonight.

So, is Power expected to be back soon? I hope so, since Marcus Smith is out for the year.

Well, it seemed like an odd way to eat clock, but the run game wasn't working.

Not even in Waco?

Once a cult reaches critical mass, it becomes a religion. Once a religion, its congregants start complaining about the music. Oh wait.

We played some true freshmen on defense and they did the job.

Our offensive output tonight was impressive
eulessismore replied to H-towngreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Well, at least more than 2 people caught passes this week, and Miller for the touchdown. I was glad to see Brown, reported to have some speed, catch 2 (1 for 21). And, in the end, they did what they had to. But, yeah, we need to score more points, what with the teams like LA Monroe coming up. -
Well, Middle kinda makes it look like we can't say they're an easy win. Georgia Tech, however is making it look like no Paul Johnson team really plays much defense. That game at Fouts against his Navy team may have overinflated our offensive stats for that year.

That is one of the strange aspects of this whole story, being reminded that to the Star Telegram, UNT sports does not exist. I notice that they do have a link to UTA sports on their "college sports" page. That school to the south is getting some coverage, due to playing TCU this weekend. UNT athletes, do NOT resort to crime to just get Star Telegram coverage. And all I can say about Stock is that he better make this "second chance" count.
