  1. Well, I'll admit, I was late getting to the men's basketball game tonight, and noticed lights and music over at Apogee. I was guessing the football coaches were showing some recruits around on official visits; does anybody know anything about anyone coming in for a visit this weekend? I thought I saw some young guys over at the Super Pit who had some physicality, swagger and big smiles. Maybe they were just friends of Dunbar and Robertson, but it's hard to think our football staff was just doing nothing this weekend.
  2. Well, I attended my first basketball game of the season tonight. I still hold to my one theory in basketball that held true in the only organized basketball game in which I played (and scored the only 6, yes 6 points that our entire team scored): become proficient at the outside jump shot. Yes, all the coaches I've ever experienced, even back then, wanted to emphasize ball handling, but...
  3. My old friend David runs that place. I used to know him when he raised a garden in his front yard in Denton, and at harvest time, set up a picnic table in the middle of it and put on a feast. Simply, the man knows and loves food. Always finish with pie.
  4. Northern Illinois is passing us by.
  5. Pro football, light rail, downtown residential; Dallas did so many things before Houston that they've always felt like "Dallas is passing us by".
  6. You're forgetting one thing: politicians are stupid.
  7. I guess this was not too unexpected. I have wondered if there may be some already on the roster who may be asked to change positions to wide receiver. One guy I'm thinking about is Knockus (sp?) Sashington. I think he asked to be moved to running back, but what are his odds for playing time there?
  8. Well, that's the bad news. The good news is (1.) there's a lot to like about our the secondary players already committed to us, if we hang on to them, and (2.) our real need is D linemen; if we could get Smart (yeah, pun intended) and Tebo, we should be in good shape on the defensive side.
  9. Like so many topics, maybe this should have started with "question, no info".
  10. Care to elaborate? Like how you know he would have come here?
  11. A more credible story to me is that Stanford already knew they were going to hire him that Harbaugh already knew they were going to hire him, but that they had to go through some motions of a coaching search.
  12. I like him; seems tenacious. They'be been playing some good ball in Liberty the last few years.
  13. Well, one thing I agreed with in the linked article was the comment that "wherever they end up, they need to start winning". Sounds like somebody I know.
  14. Man, just trying to figure out the meaning of the sentences being constructed has made me think the whole thing is not worth following. I'm having problems understanding this: "a total of 12 football members with 11 overall, with Hawaii being the lone football only member". Does this mean: "12 members total, 11 all sports, and Hawaii only for football"? I do think the whole Big East thing either means that (1.) some people have finally figured out how to read a map, which is a good thing, or (2.) it really took some people a long time to learn how to read a map, which is a bad thing.
  15. Well, it didn't help that our APR was so bad we had fewer scholarships to give. Also, just saying.
  16. I just liked the original topic. Straight. Almost didn't need our comments.
  17. Too hard to just treat this topic as the positive news that it is?
  18. That's hilarious sh*t, and I've never used an asterisk in a post before. I mean, there are clues: make note of the good grammar, clever statistical analysis, and Agamemnon? How many of us even think about that? Honestly, I suspect this is someone who actually wishes Benford well.
  19. I'm hoping McDorman never lets us forget him.
  20. Plus one for that, but he's the one to make folks think facts are either squishy, or just not enough.
  21. If we win more, I'll take whatever downside comes with it.
  22. Maybe they watched the women earlier.
  23. I'd like to see anyone here, or even at ULM, claim that they knew he'd be worthy of a contract extension when he was first hired. It seems like the reaction from ULM fans at the time was "why did we bother firing Weatherbie?". How much longer does he have Kolton Browning?
