  1. Think of it like this: TWC probably thinks it's among the top 10 Internet Service Providers, but that's only believable if you don't know what Internet, Service, or Provider means. And if you want to take something seriously that names 10 players for an "all time" team, just put whatever player you want into that 11th spot. I'll put Mean Joe in there.
  2. Muscle? You mean bulk 'em up, not fatten 'em up. A man needs some fatback though.
  3. Heck, I just wish I could see the Derek Thompson in person that I listened to on the radio in his first game against Arkansas State.
  4. I'd rather watch women's college softball than pro baseball. I mean, who came up with the idea of performance enhancing drugs for guys who mostly stand around? I guess that following the Rangers for years, then giving up on them when they traded rookie phenom Sammy Sosa for 5 guys whose names noboby can remember makes me a fair weather fan. Still, it kinda makes me reluctant to give up on a team just because they aren't winning right now.
  5. Well, I'm at a loss, and that probably describes many in Euless. By the way, David Etaiki, the uncle mentioned, is a huge Trojan football supporter. He arranged for charter buses to one of the state championship games I attended. This is a huge loss for a tight knit community.
  6. Well, if Conroy Hines, reported by Vito to be "assisting", was the substitute WR coach, it's not like he's some nobody from nowhere: http://www.dentonrc.com/sports/high-schools/high-school-football-headlines/20110812-football-hines-to-coach-raider-offense.ece And if he's willing to come over to UNT to help out after not being retained by Coach Mac, I think that says something good about both men.
  7. Fixed it for ya. And get this critique of UNT from Cougie K: And so here we have a guy who attended UNT, and tries sweet talking about Rice, both schools where Larry McMurtry, probably the best writer in my generation (post WW2) earned degrees, and whose English Department Don Henley says "gave him the education he needed", who doesn't know the English language well enough to know that "since World War II" and "post WW2" mean the same thing. I'm only saying this because he/she will defend him/her self as having such a lack of a personal life because he/she is studying. What can a person be studying, at UNT, UH, Texas State, or wherever, where one's professors don't care whether a student even knows the meaning of simple words that they have plenty of time to gaze upon (as they must when confronted by their own brilliance) before they put them where everyone can read them? Our educational system has problems, and not just at UNT. This isn't about being a grammar nazi folks, this is about being able to communicate without seeming to be ignorant.
  8. I'll never forget the car I bought in Denton from a guy with a used car lot on Fort Worth Drive, who looked at me with his one good eye and said, "If you don't make those payments, I'll kill you"! It's powerful when a guy looks at you with his one good eye and says something like that. I mean, I could understand that kind of talk.
  9. I agree with something Roy said after a loss last year; that we'd never win some of those games without better secondary play. I hope we achieve that this year!
  10. I like Metzler's. And I consider Roy Metzler to be a UNT supporter.
  11. Was it the result of a "paving petition", as we call citizen initiated street reconstruction at the City?
  12. Welp, really not seeing why it called for the President to get involved. I've managed to help a few people here and there and gotten used to not being recognized for it. I will say that I was truly impressed when a City of Euless policeman called to thank me for providing some useful information. I don't think that should be a deciding factor in deciding to help though. I agree with what Bob Dylan once said, like "it's not political to see someone who needs help and help them".
  13. We've got to get over the "minimum number of plays" idea. One play for a year counts as one year. Medical hardships are a whole other subject.
  14. I actually agree with you on this one post. The problem with those who end up as a news story national news with a link to marijuana only have the marijuana part reported and never the variety of other substances, mainly alcohol, but also other abusable substances, illegal or not, that they were likely also using. The other stories you used do provide a good argument against synthetic THC, advocated by the Federal Government as a better alternative to smoking the natural stuff when they were the only providers of "medical marijuana". I think the quotes should handle the "h" versus "j" issue adequately.
  15. Black kids smoking reefer??? I'm finding it hard to care. White kids doing meth? The Euless Police will be hearing from me. And anybody calling me an old white cracker? Two out of three ain't bad.
  16. This is that great news I've been waiting for!
  17. We need to win at least 6.5 games.
  18. I know it may just be that I'm a Euless Trinity homer, but I'd love to see Willie Hubbard get a chance!
  19. If he does well enough as a pro (especially if he gets back to the NFL), that will fade from memory.
  20. How you gonna manage that first one down in Austin? Hard enough up in Denton.
  21. I would say that Coach Mac, that son of the Iowa City Police Chief, will have some knowledge of how to deal with these things. Let the legal system do its work, and Coach his.
  22. What about moving Micah Thompson back to DT? Sure, he asked for the move to offense, but is that where we need him most?
  23. Hmmm' I was just thinking today, "well that's one game I could easily attend next year". But nooooh!
  24. Man, knowing you both, it's hard to imagine that one of you is the other, but I appreciate either or both of you for a hell of a good laugh!
