  1. Heck, if I had as great a name as you do, I'd use it every chance I got.
  2. Montana State has recruited Euless Trinity quite well. Or they recruited Denarius McGhee and he recruited a bunch of his old hs buddies.
  3. I'm not SURE it cost us the win, but damn, it's discouraging to see that, after we've given up quick scores on opening drives so often in recent years. Does Mac not know this has been and is a problem? I'd like to see us never defer again after winning a coin toss, and to start out with a play action pass thrown at least 20 yards in the air.
  4. there is no excuse for our not recruiting better at Euless Trinity. What we need is to establish a mentoring program to get more ET athletes eligible for FBS, and then let it be known that there is great academic support for athletes at UNT. No reason to lose these guys to Kilgore JC.
  5. A true headline from when Ike Turner died (and Tina is still alive): "Ike Turner beats Tina to death".
  6. Well, darn.
  7. I was just thinking about that. So many unfortunate similarities in the two games, it's like we missed a learning opportunity somewhere.
  8. Do everything possible to score first.
  9. Well, I really don't agree that it's all on Canales. That call to defer after we won the coin toss; that's a head coaching call, and looks pretty bad in hindsight, although I wasn't convinced one way or the other at the time. The decision to attempt the fg rather than go for it was a head coaching call, and we were all rightfully groaning about it.
  10. Honestly, if there's one thing this program needs to do, it's to stop giving up that big play to start the game. Something about it.
  11. We have to be at least proficient in our kicking game. That means all PAT's, and at least one field goal.
  12. Mean Joe Greene shook my hand once. He was very kind; I still have that hand. I'm pretty sure he doesn't wear gloves, ever, unless his wife knits them for him.
  13. I'm not sure that's a good idea. Somewhere I read about cheerleaders having a higher percentage of Injuries than any other "sport".
  14. Well, the missed xp's were certainly a big problem, but we DID get that corrected midgame; a good thing in my opinion. And really, Olen should get credit for the lack of other kick returns by kicking the first few out of the back of the end zone. Special teams is still a team problem, but one I think can get corrected in a timely manner. Let's not forget to be happy about Chancellor; he's baaaaaack.
  15. You want statistics, check these out: http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/21/p1 It's just amazing how many categories have "NORTH TEXAS" near the top; one, punt returns, has us number one. Way to go, Brelan!
  16. This is all I could get, cumulative stats. There's only been one game, so it works so far. http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/m-footbl/stats/2013-2014/teamcume.html#TEAM.IND
  17. One of the the things I still hold against Dodge, is that he went for it on 4th and goal, instead of having Knott kick the fg when he had already kicked (I believe) 2 by that point. I remember thinking right then, "we may need those points". Remind me to let this go.
  18. Yep. I hope we get in some solid work on our kicking game this week.
  19. What about...can o' whoopass?
  20. We don't need no stinking participation report. Zed is a player!
  21. Hey, "Mean" is a cool word, like when somebody says I make a "mean" sandwich, I feel all proud. I am glad that those who are not among us all the time can recognize that we are a nice bunch.
  22. They performed well in all aspects.
  23. This. To me, it seemed like his real problems were with what should have been high percentage plays, and he did fine throwing down field. I am wondering if that long throw to chancellor helped by getting them to play off of our receivers, letting the short to intermediate passes and YAC work for us.
  24. Woods? On a woodsy note, I'm so glad the tailgating at Apogee has grass and trees. Definitely a help on days like yesterday.
