  1. SMU is not in Dallas, but in University Park, which wouldn't have a name, or an employer without SMU.
  2. Funny all the musical metaphors. When I (fortunately) had a piano teacher who convinced me that my talents lay elsewhere than being a music major at UNT (hey, I had tried majoring in everything else, so why not), she said, "our best students can only get jobs playing in lounges in Las Vegas". And yeah, a lot of people would love to do just that. So, I guess it's possible that we know more about Vegas than Vegas knows about us.
  3. Yep, that's the name. Thank you.
  4. Derek, thanks for quarterbacking us in this first winning season in what, 9 years.
  5. I feel really bad that I cannot remember our quarterback's name that started that game, and probably should have remained starter. I think we would have won if out center hadn't snapped the ball ten feet over his head when we were in good field position, and either leading or about to take the lead.
  6. Rice and UNT; class of CUSA West.
  7. I was in line behind someone at Sam's furniture today, waiting to get Lance's autograph, and they asked him about the injury, and he just said it was "something he'll fight back from". And I know he will. It's something, seeing that smile of his, even after something like that has happened.
  8. I see him suited up on the sideline.
  9. What if that is simply a factual statement? If the guy is the fundraiser people say he is, I doubt he's clueless about the value of collegiate athletics as part of keeping alums connected to their alma mater. Besides, being from UNLV, I'd think it's possible he may have an idea or two about basketball, even if he couldn't double their former coach's salary to match what Oklahoma offered. You should be interested in that. I say, give this new prez a chance.
  10. Well, if this is true, and I have no reason to doubt it, we were foolish to accept the penalty, and this indicates failure in clock management at our highest coaching level, not to mention calling a time out late in the game after having several precious seconds run off the clock. The whole clock management thing makes me wonder if the coaches, like me, were thinking something like, "man, I can't believe we could still possibly tie this game after the way we've played for 58 minutes, maybe we should start using our time outs".
  11. Honestly, I haven't spent enough time on the boards in the last couple of weeks to know about all that, so how come my team lost? And what's up with all the bird avatars? Oh, I forgot, they had a good game plan and executed it well.
  12. Tony, you're a breath of fresh air, and I know I'm speaking for my wife as well in saying it's a real pleasure to know you and your lovely daughter.
  13. King, I think you make a very good point, and considering that turnaround makes me feel better about our next game following extended time off, that maybe we've learned our lesson and won't be so flat as we were against Tulane.
  14. Things to do: 1. Quit buying the Sunday Dallas Morning News except when UNT football is prominently mentioned on front page. 2. ?
  15. I don't think we'll be bringing guys back like we did Warner anytime soon. And I think the big reason we did that was how thin we were in the secondary. We've been fortunate to have the depth at running back, but we've lost what, 2 guys for the season in the last 3 games? Running backs really take a beating, and we're now seeing the wisdom of spending as many scholarships as we have on that position.
  16. Once, back in my wilder days, I got a police escort to the Potter County Line; that's where Amarillo is located, for those of you who are West Texas challenged. In a sheriff's department patrol car. Heck, I was just a hitchhiker, but appreciated the attention. Really, it was better than walking. Mac Davis, I understand your opinion about Lubbock in a rear view mirror; the same goes for me and Amarillo. A police escort can be a cherished experience.
  17. Oh yeah. What you and I have sat through. This is what makes it worthwhile.
  18. I predict Sports Illustrated would be better served to start work early on their swimsuit issue.
  19. One thing I like about this is it should make us take UTSA more seriously. I'm sure we already are, but hey, they have a coach with a national championship and a good quarterback.
  20. Which everyone is glad you're asking.
  21. That they were eligible to win an Ipad and we weren't? In all fairness to the pretext of the thread, each side should be eligible for two Ipads, but to be win, ticket must be scanned before the team runs on the field.
  22. Please, let's not take them for granted. They are just now leading A$M 6-2.
  23. A good point, especially since it would cut so many ways. Would we really want to forsake our overall winning record against Boise State, since we were both 1-aa Big West at the time? And maybe some ACC teams would find some comfort in throwing out their records against some Colonial Conference teams. And should Michigan, after having lost to Appy State, feel free to say, "that didn't count?" Also, with fewer games per season played in the past, throwing out whatever matchups against 1-aa would start taking the statistical sample down closer to being meaningless over the course of a single season.
  24. Mac and the Skladanator.
