  1. Anyone who is still up, or will get up early enough should buy themselves a copy. Probably the best coverage they've ever given us; second sidebar on the left column of the front page, biggest share of the front page of the sports section is a picture of Brelan Chancellor under a caption "Big finish" in a font large enough to make PlummMeanGreen blush, the biggest share of page 6, with Vito's stories on the win, Thompsons role, and Zach Orr carrying on his family's legacy, and the story on Ian Campbell at the top front page of the metro section, with a photo of him at the HOD bowl. Good stuff, if you're still addicted to print, as I occasionally am. I can often find newspapers a day or two old at the Quik Trip stores.
  2. The thing I always liked about Brelan was the feeling that any time he touched the ball could result in 6 points. Have we ever had anyone more versatile?
  3. I agree, and was impressed by the honesty with which it was reported. I wonder if the uniquely charitable nature of the bowl required better documentation than we might otherwise expect. I will say that a coworker who attended the Fiesta Bowl was amazed at how well Baylor traveled to that (although not so much with that team's performance).
  4. No, but that photo only shows part of the 38,000 or so who were there. And no camera can show the fans outside as well as those thousands inside waiting in line for concessions, restrooms, and souvenirs.
  5. Like many others, I've been critical of him, but it's hard to ignore those numbers. What's even harder to ignore is the physical courage he's shown, like coming back from that broken leg, and playing today with that dislocated kneecap.
  6. A woman saw me and my wife in our Mean Green gear at the DART Victory Station and congratulated us on our big day, then said something like, "y'all represented well, I heard over 48,000 attendance". At the time, I was thinking 40,000, and was thrilled to hear her number. I'm still thrilled with the crowd we had. Oh yeah, let's give a big shout out to that Chamber of Commerce weather!
  7. Ok, I saw that, but didn't realize it was Abbe (yeah, it's hard to miss Abbe, but I did somehow). That's interesting, because it seems like Abbe used to have a reputation as someone with kind of a short fuse. In my opinion, he has really matured, especially since he came back from his offseason problems, playing on his own nickel. Seems like he's played a lot smarter than in other years.
  8. Yes! If June Jones steals a recruit from us, it will be someone foolish enough we'll wonder why we wanted him.
  9. I loved watching Coach Mac do his part in stopping the scuffling on the sideline after the late hit on Chancellor. I hate it when a coach ignores or excuses extracurricular fighting. I couldn't tell exactly what Mac was saying, but "I'm sure it was something like, "stop this right now, we've got 4 more minutes of football to play".
  10. Somewhere the ghost of Jack Ruby was heard saying, "your money's no good here".
  11. Ok, this is a service I will offer, as I drove to Denton Saturday and picked up my two tickets at Apogee, so am set. As a City of Dallas employee, we were emailed an announcement that we can pick up 2 free tickets by presenting a City of Dallas ID at gate "J". As soon as I have eaten something at the tailgate, I will go over to gate "J", get whatever tickets I can, and give them to whoever did not get their tickets that they paid for and did not receive for whatever reason (honor system). Said individual(s) can text me at 817-715-0768; first come first served. If 10:30 comes and goes with no requests, I'll give them to whoever wants.
  12. Was CUSA in the Liberty Bowl today? Maybe it's just that Mississippi State (and the rest of the SEC) is that good.
  13. When is I35/Stemmons not backed up at that hour?
  14. Uh, wow!
  15. Yes, I met him once at a local elementary school back in the days when I did election judging, and he was there visiting his kid.
  16. As long as you order the officers through a City authorized officer outlet, so the City will get its cut. Sorry, couldn't help it.
  17. After talking with Darius this morning, learned the shipment by FedEx which I had chosen didn't happen. I'm on my way from Euless to Apogee ticket office right now (noon, Sat, Dec. 28) to pick mine up. If there's any way I can help anyone, call me at 817-715-0768, or email me at adwaynetaylor@gmail.com.
  18. Dude, the one in Dallas is nowhere you want to be, but I have not seen outright violent behavior there. I'm always lucky like that, though.
  19. It will be the largest stadium where our football team has won.
  20. I just noticed that the rain chances dropped from 60% to 20% on the Weather Channel extended forecast, with the overall forecast of "mostly sunny". I suspect it will be wonderful weather.
  21. Hey now that I'm thinking about it, that Rice player didn't get in trouble for urinating on our stadium. And I thought they were smart guys.
  22. The Green Brigade will parade in Dallas on New Years...into the Cotton Bowl.
  23. Me neither.
  24. Paying June Jones or Garrett Gilbert?
