  1. Yeah, it was one game that I had forgotten until this inane thread. Let's all just forget it, again.
  2. The "too much emphasis on art and music" thing was just playing a broken record from past days to a crowd that increasingly doesn't even know what a cd is. I didn't get a music degree, but did take guitar class with a guy who did, and who then went on to graduate law school and become the president of the national immigration lawyers association. He was smart enough to see a demand for that kind of work among athletes, had a working arrangement with the pga to handle those issues for golfers who play all over the world. I could go on, but wife is calling for me to do something else. Maybe music school helped him get those creative juices going. And, by the way, not everyone working in education is living in poverty. If you haven't been to a big time music event at the Murchison on the UNT campus, there's an opportunity to see outreach to the movers and shakers. Dudes, think outside of these old tired cliches!
  3. There is nobody who keeps up with ALL things related to UNT athletics better than NT03.
  4. Rex Cauble is deceased, but his family is still carrying on a campaign to clear his name. His is a fascinating story to look up on the internet. I think one of the two most startling photographs I ever saw on the front page of the DRC was one of a handcuffed Rex Cauble being led away by the Feds. At the time, he was the local head (yes, pun intended) of Ross Perot's Texas War on Drugs. I think the most powerful politicians in Texas at that time were regulars at the parties he threw in Sanger. One reason I heard that there was little jail time out of the bust was how well organized his operations were, even having "planned charitable giving" to win support among the community. One line I heard from some observers was "Those cowboys didn't hurt anybody", in reference to his so called "Cowboy Mafia".
  5. Understood by many, underrated by most.
  6. That's a toughie of a question. I'd have to consider Mac and Saban top salesmen, and you can never pay a good salesman too much.
  7. Soon and very soon, TCU will need to get back to playing winning football to bring in good recruits.
  8. Well, we represented well.
  9. Because you can.
  10. King, you're the best.
  11. I'll see if my neighbor knows anything about him and his family.
  12. Yeah, I looked at the thread on this same topic 2 years ago, and the same concerns were mentioned about such as Obi, Bellazin and others not being listed who obviously performed well, even brilliantly at times in the following years.
  13. When we first got the dedicated S&T coach for football, it was said to be for the two reasons mentioned in the first paragraph above. Also, it seems like NCAA rules for number of FB coaches made it where having a dedicated S&T coach didn't "count" against that number, and such a coach was able to have greater off season involvement with the players than the other FB coaches, I guess just due to the nature of the work, so it was almost a no brainer to create that position. No one was complaining at that time about Seroka's work.
  14. I believe it was during the time Todd Dodge was head coach that there was a specific position created within the football program for a strength and conditioning coach, and that the person who had been doing that (along with doing the same work for the other sports) was then able to focus on working with athletes from all the other varsity sports. I think the perception was that football just required so much of that work that we couldn't expect the S&T coach for football to be have the time to work with the other athletes, and vice versa.
  15. I was talking with a Tongan neighbor last week and asked him if he knew about Joe Kaho, and whether Kaho was a Tongan. My neighbor said that yes, Kaho was Tongan, from a large family in this area. He did say that he thought Kaho was probably "too old" to play now (this is from a guy who played under Lineweaver at Euless Trinity, but before their first state championship-in 2005 I believe), but I don't think a lot of people are aware of the conditioning required of young men and women in the Army and Marines these days. Not that the physical training requirements haven't always been demanding. Kaho certainly looked like someone who is physically capable. I, for one, hope that Kaho, like Sarge, can find a place for himself in Denton, not just for his own sake, but to show others from this area with a South Pacific Island heritage that UNT can be a good place to study and play football. Two things have been holding us back in this regard: a lack of winning, and a perception of being a little too close to home. Overcoming the first will go a long way towards making the second one irrelevant.
  16. Heck, I'd guess the Ranchman's Cafe in Ponder is within 25 miles of Denton, and my old friend Dave would take good care of them. After they'd finished off the steak dinner with pie, they'd never want to leave.
  17. Hot damn! Now let's use up those remaining schollys on some DL STUDS!
  18. So tempted...to changed the words "holes" to something else as well, but...not gonna do it.
  19. I saw him along the sideline; he seemed to be signalling in plays at times. Has the looks and name of a South Pacific Islander. I'll ask one of my neighbors if he knows anything about him.
  20. I would like to throw out, at this point, that UNT90 may be the most steadfast Derek Thompson supporter on this board.
  21. Yeah, I loved all the action shots, but the one with Mean Joe and that big smile, that's classic!
  22. I tailgated with Connor Trussell's grandparents, and the granddad expressed his hope that Connor would "get a big old ring", so I'm thinking he knew that was there for the champions. That's all I know.
