  1. Oh well, 4 things I learned from following this year's draft are that Bloomsburg, Lindenwood, Marist, and McGill have football programs.
  2. UNT at UT to start next season: two hungry teams.
  3. Hmmm, +1 to UNT90 on his last speculation. I mean, Ball State and FAU haven't beaten us lately, except in the NFL draft.
  4. Just made it up last night.
  5. Before it's all over, everyone in the state of Texas will be able to pronounce TJ's name. He can beat the double team.
  6. I don't know; kind of too much a takeoff off their own mantra. "Jazzed about Denton"?
  7. Reading this thread, I can't help but think of our local hs head coach, Steve Lineweaver, when I saw him at the local Home Depot shortly before the season started a couple of years ago. The conversation was about what kind of season our Trojans would have. He said, "it's such a rough old game, a lot depends on injuries". I really thought Georgia was going to have a great year last season, even when we hung with them well into the second half, but we all saw the effect having key players out with injuries had on them. And this is not to look forward to players getting injured, just to say that it's one of numerous possible reasons that going undefeated may be tougher than it looks on paper. Also, I have a hard time thinking some of the teams that were down last year won't improve this year, especially the Florida teams, USM, and a Rice team that looked pretty darn good at times last year.
  8. And the Texas Music of all Texas Music, "Texas Trilogy" by our own Steve Fromholz, of the North Texas Folk Music Club. Rest in peace, brother.
  9. As far as someone who went to UNT, I'll take "I Drove All Night" by Roy Orbison.
  10. What about some Stevie Ray Vaughan love? I'd say "Texas Flood" is a great song.
  11. You may need to start using a disclaimer. I work for a government entity where we are required to attach a disclaimer; we do mapping (GIS for you techies), but don't want people to blame us if it's not as accurate as what a surveyor might produce at much greater expense. Your situation might be the opposite; you have good information, but may want people to know it's not really ill informed enough for a sports forum. Maybe something like "information, no question".
  12. Green Bat is media savvy.
  13. Hmmm, that wasn't ALL Brett said, but the mention of his possibly walking on seemed like an even further stretch, unless UNT and the other schools are hesitant to use a scholarship on a late qualifier. I definitely want him here, but I want him here for 4 years and graduating. Unless he enters the NFL draft after his junior year.
  14. Well, by some logic, I can see how coach Mac's comment could be correct, such as "he couldn't beg 100 people to come, but 2600 people came anyway". But people at work have told me before that I should quit trying to make sense out of things that don't.
  15. Yeah, the contestant represented himself and his university poorly, but I feel stupider for having looked at something on "Topright News"
  16. Well, didn't Tony Johnson take over ds duties early last season when Blake Dunham went down with an injury? Maybe it says something about him that we didn't hear that much about him, playing that somewhat thankless position. As for Evans, I'm betting he ends up on scholly sooner than later. There does seem to be some logic to which walkons Mac awards a scholarship and when, I'm guessing some of which relates to NCAA rules which have been discussed or cussed here.
  17. I thought Macek was placed on scholarship before the start of last season.
  18. Like the guy I brought to the game, I was impressed by Greer's passing. I think he needs to work on his decision making ability, I.e., throw it away when there's nothing there.
  19. It was great seeing Lance Dunbar on the sideline today.
  20. This was the first time I took anyone to the spring game, my neighbor. He's a Tongan who played for Lineweaver at Trinity and has extended family at various college and pro football programs. He was impressed by Josh Greer, our running game, our offensive line, and of course the beautiful Apogee Stadium and the overall UNT and Denton experience.
  21. It may just be the Euless in me, but I'm thinking Willie Hubbard is helping himself this spring.
  22. I wondered about the effect of Derek Thompson's broken leg on his performance the year he came back. He had plenty of recovery time, it would seem, but still, the legs and all things attached to it are part of the throwing motion.
  23. Well, I'm just really excited for Brelan. But he generated excitement for his entire career at UNT.
