  1. I'm making myself 3 promises: 1. To respond to anyone talking or writing about him negatively, ask them, "what do you see in (insert QB name here) that others don't?" 2. To respond to anyone criticizing his practice habits, "maturity", or such by asking, "Could you be specific about any of this?" 3. To never leave a game early when he's playing again, unless he's convicted of some crime or forgets how to throw the ball. Coach Mac, I know your high school English teacher, and she never thought you'd amount to much; maybe you should think about others who did see something in you, and look for things to like in someone who hasn't completely won your confidence. Give a young guy a chance. Oh, and to be honest, my high school English teachers didn't see much in me; but some folks at a major city like some of what I write. Maybe I learned how to do something right (or is that "correctly").
  2. Well, I listened to the postgame tonight, and Mac said they were actually going to look at the film. I think that bodes well for DJ.
  3. Is it DJ or DW? And is either of those one word or two?
  4. Sheldon Wade has turned out to be the real deal. I don't think I would have ever heard of Austin Peay in the first place if I hadn't been stationed in that area in the Army, and never would have thought about it again until he showed up. A good get.
  5. Hey, if Mac is looking for an excuse to say Dajon matured really fast and that changed everything, try this: HE JUST BECAME A FATHER. I've always heard that having kids can make you grow up fast, so not my brilliant idea or anything. I've never had kids of my own, my wife had 4 from her previous marriage, so I asked her about that theory, and she answered, YES, having a baby changes everything!
  6. Why did I know this would be the title of a thread that started tonight?
  7. Heck, I'm not going to stay home because I'm scared. The hardest exercise I get is running from my car to catch the 8:10 train to work, but I'm convinced I could outrun everybody I saw in that video. As long as we keep it John Schellecci style: footrace.
  8. I was wondering if they would ever get around to thanking us. Now that they have, they're welcome. JJ was seeming neither alive nor dead; we only do the Zombie apocalypse for Halloween games.
  9. Us: 34 Dawgs: 17 No particular reason.
  10. UTEP didn't fight that hard when we played them at Apogee last year.
  11. Was he really there Saturday? I had a camera with a pretty good telephoto lens and was trying to catch a sight of such a coaching legend, but just saw some old guys shuffling around on the sideline. But heck, if I had a house in Hawaii and a pretty good wad of cash, I know where I'd be.
  12. Dude,you captured it! +1
  13. Sunburned arms and knees here; forgot the sunscreen. Hey, a good Stetson straw hat does work wonders!
  14. Yeah, only disappointment for me was the lack of SMU visitors. I guess my overall opinion of SMU folks is that I've known a few who are as fine as can be, and one who was rude to me. I've decided, in the time in takes to type this, to let that one negative experience go. Looking forward to some excellent game day experiences.
  15. I'm now ok with the scholarships we're using on kickers.
  16. Latest in the long line of big time RB success stories at North Texas.
  17. Well, the girls I saw were cute; I saw some wearing white, some green, some green and white, others not so much.
  18. Pegram's a stud.
  19. I'm with NT03; I'm so glad to see Sir Calvin coming to play. He seems to have that "nose for the ball", whatever.
  20. Well, they need to get quite a bit better to be part of any benchmarking process. I go with oldguystudent and the program defining loss for their side, which does help them by letting them know just how far they have fallen. I think there is some kind of rule where they lose to us and replace their coach, so...always glad to help.
  21. I used to have a girlfriend who said she'd never be caught in a Walmart. It seemed kind of snooty at the time, but maybe I misunderstood.
  22. I cannot unsee some of the stuff I saw by doing a search on Mike Holmberg. At first, I thought maybe he was Mike Holmgren, and should therefore know SOMETHING about football.
  23. Ahhhh...what the heck: 13-5 UNT, with our defense scoring twice. They get a field goal and either a safety or a blocked PAT returned for 2 points. As a bonus, June Jones rotates QB's benford like: they complete a pass, he substitutes, with the rationale that the QB coming off the sideline will bring the play in. As handoff practice, the rotated in QB hands off the clipboard to the one coming off the field. We fool everybody but me, who grew up watching single-wing wildcat style football in Wichita Falls, by going with the Wing Wildcat, with all snaps going to the fullback, and the QB serving as either blocker or receiver, or simply spinning around for no apparent reason, but hoping to fool someone.
  24. Well done, +1, Sir.
  25. They really have gotten over the disdain they used to have for being on our schedule.
