  1. Well, this was a good time to check in on gomeangreen.com
  2. Yeah, it is kind of hard to imagine that those who have worked for or with Mac for years and have joined back up with him at UNT would just think, "hey, I need to get back working with that control freak".
  3. I just don't get the way our defense has looked under Mac and Chico. I do remember reading about Chico that he did best with a dual threat quarterback who just improvised when a play broke down. That kind of rings true with guys like Marquel Blackwell (sp?), Matt Grothe, B.J. Daniels. I don't know that much about Philip Rivers; I understand he has tremendous raw talent, but nobody knows what the Chargers will be like from one week to the next. All this makes me wonder why Dajon didn't come on sooner, especially since Mac (who has said he doesn't want a "statue" for a quarterback) said he reminded him of Seneca Wallace, who was known to some extent for his running ability. I have wondered if there's something they expect out of someone who comes in second in a quarterback competition that those who have come in second haven't fulfilled. I mean, hey, a quarterback who has some talent wants to play.
  4. Yeah, those guys looked good out there. What happened?
  5. Yeah, speaking of backup quarterbacks. I guess Chase used up his eligibility and then started hanging out with the wrong crowd. I hope he and Stock learned the error of their ways. But, volunteer QB coach????
  6. Well, that's just a kick in the teeth.
  7. Damn right they're important. And there's hardly been any mention of who will be Dajon's backup.
  8. But you can also have "volunteer" coaches. I was just thinking Seneca might be between gigs at this point.
  9. What's Seneca Wallace doing now?
  10. By the second half, the ticket enforcers were the only ones not in white uniforms who were stopping anything. The guy wouldn't let me go down and say howdy to the Tasty Greek just after halftime. Eventually, I texted Tasty, and he was able to get to where the ticket enforcer was by some deceptive move that I couldn't see, and we could chat for a moment (didn't want to get too rowdy). My thought, next time the defense gets gassed (or disappointed by the offense, whatever), have that ticket enforcer suit up and send him out long enough to slow the other guys down while he's checking to see if they should be in the lower sections.
  11. If Dajon plays in the first quarter and is unstoppable, the only point in the others playing would be to avoid injury and give backups practice.
  12. Well, it is that "all in" thing I'm suggesting they may want to consider, since our passing game has been this dismal so far. I can see the point of seeing what he can do with "our existing receivers" if we're trying to see what Dajon can do given the same tools as the other two quarterbacks with pt this year. However, I'm among the many here who think they've seen all they need to know in that regard. To me, our current passing game, is like having a Windows computer with a "Vista" operating system and thinking maybe you should just buy a copy of "Windows 8" (I managed to find a PC with "7" not long ago and like it fine), and install it on that old computer running Vista. Lo and behold, that old machine just doesn't have the resources it takes to run a modern operating system. I do like our current receivers, but honestly, it's hard to judge their strengths at this point. However, if there is some thought given to playing Goree this season, I'd prefer it was done against Nicholls State rather than Indiana (which put out 580 yards and 39 points yesterday, IIRC. I'm just saying, we may just be so far behind where we need to be, it may be time to go "all in", roll the dice, or whatever you want to call it. This overly conservative appoach is killing our spirit.
  13. Remember, I said "recruited and developed". My research indicates that Derek Thompson committed verbally to UNT on December 7, 2008. Canales was hired by Dodge in 2010. However, we can take that to the new "dedicated QB coach" thread.
  14. The one thing that just now struck me about Greer is how much different he looked in the spring game. Whatever I've seen him doing in the two "real" games I've seen doesn't seem like what anybody would have taught him. I was really just hoping we could have a thread that was actually about Tee Goree, and whether (depending on Dajon being the starter), it would be a good idea for him to play this year.
  15. I like your detailed analysis going into 2018, but my concern is this: the current staff hasn't shown anything in terms of recruiting and developing quarterbacks (whatever anyone thinks of Derek Thompson, he was signed by the previous regime). I want Dajon to come in and succeed as much as anyone here, but I feel that, given the loss of two receivers we had verbals from for the last class, that the quality and depth at receiver will limit the passing game at some point this season. All of this is making we wonder whether that good QB prospects, if they see a lack of perceived commitment to the passing game, would just see what looks like a dead end for a guy who has other options. A lot of this may depend on how the coaches see this season. If they see it as a true rebuilding season, they may want to preserve any who haven't played yet. If like many fans, they see last year as a chance to build momentum that hasn't been here for a decade, they may wish to consider rolling the dice, and show that we're the kind of place good players want to be. Like schools with a successful QB, they could bring in another good one.
  16. Some of us (I know I was just thinking this today) would like to see him play this year if we use a quarterback who can get the ball to him.
  17. A passing game? Now that would surprise people!
  18. Well, we need to come up with something to beat Indiana, IMHO.
  19. I think Indiana has the better chance of winning today, and that we'll have to make surprising progress offensively to beat them.
  20. Well, the manager in our office mentioned this week how much improved UTEP is this year over last (as is La Tech, obviously). Right now, Indiana and FIU are looking good over supposedly superior competition. Other than the next home game, nothing gets easier. The Nicholls State game just got a whole lot more important. Either we see the coaching staff use it to see what our "most talented players" can do, or we'll know we're in for a long season, followed by a very long offseason.
  21. So, I'm not sure what you've said. It seems like you've been generally critical of Williams in the past, and maybe that isn't what you're saying, but could you come right out and say something about this quarterback situation? I just think it would be better to say things specifically for or against one or any of them than just to imply there's something that we're too uninformed to judge. I really think the results are the information here, since I haven't heard anything more specific than "missed some practices", "immature", or whatever, The whole vagueness thing doesn't do much for us who just want someone in there who can play football and doesn't have any felony indictments. I'm kind of wondering if expecting "normal" behavior from a quarterback may be like looking for actors and musicians to be role models for your children. There are many who would drive teachers and coaches crazy who might really have something to contribute.
  22. Rex Cauble approves
  23. You don't really have to believe in God to pray. I know it sounds strange, but it can't hurt.
  24. Look, this kind of offense ultimately turns fans off, even when it's working well. When it's not, well you get the picture.
  25. Ryan, it's time for the coaches to put the product on the field; offense, defense, and special teams. You can't sell even the best product without the right marketing, but all the marketing in the world can't sell a product that isn't there.
