  1. Seriously, I've wondered if UNT shouldn't consider adding a water feature for Apogee, if we're going to continue to play with game time temps as high as they have been. This is how you do it: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/jags--poolside-scene-turning-more-heads-than-football-team-021159184-nfl.html
  2. I hope my old friend Dave is still running that place. He's done great work there.
  3. Well, other than Ponder, there's not much in the way of city lights to the west, which is the POV of that shot. On a positive note for Ponder, in a recent Texas Monthly feature of various celebrities favorite Texas places, Larry McMurtry mentioned the Ranchman's Cafe in that fair city.
  4. Overall, we need to get more speed in the offense. One way I've been thinking we could do that is to use some of the backup running backs, Ivery, Erick Evans, and Jeffrey Wilson (if he returns from injury this year) as receivers out of the backfield, or just line them up occasionally as receivers.
  5. I'll be there, hopefully with at least +1.
  6. There is so much riding on this one game, it's ridiculous. One game, that can: 1. Make difference between a winning and losing record (after 5 games). 2. Make the difference between a winning record and just breaking even for out of conference. 3. Give us some idea of what our season will be like. 4. Give us some idea of what our quarterbacking will be like for years. 5. Show us what the sports future of our university can be like. 6. Show what beating the hoosiers can look like to the basketball coaches. 7. Show the world that Coach Mac is perfect against the big 10 while coaching the Mean Green.
  7. I like Linehan's idea about using Lance as a receiver out of the backfield more, and it seems like today showed the wisdom of that. You want to get Lance out in space where he can use his speed.
  8. I think they may have built in some attendance problems with their "small privates" inclusiveness, especially in SMU and Tulsa. CUSA, on the other hand, has the problems with the "F*U" schools. I do agree that the current version of CUSA has more programs on an upward trajectory than the AAC. Still, basketball may make it worth the move for the Texas schools. CUSA does have some good basketball programs; others, especially UNT, will have to decide to be serious about basketball at some point.
  9. Thanks Tony!
  10. Am I the only one who thinks the television networks have the whip hand and will tell everyone else who will suck hind tit?
  11. Just to prove that I'm from the 1960's, (1.)that immediately brought to mind the old song "Eve of Destruction", (2.) I don't know how to embed youtube videos and (3.) it's still too soon.
  12. There's no feeling but profound sorrow from this. Hopes and prayers to the families of the deceased and complete healing for those injured.
  13. I'm seeing this as meaning that we have to virtually run the table for our record to look respectable this year.
  14. Well, at least they beat a ranked team. I'm sorry to hear about the injuries, though. Overall, I expect Indiana football to continue on an upward trajectory under Kevin Wilson. After their next game.
  15. Exactly. I have worked in municipal government from almost the moment I left UNT as a grad student. I went to our manager once to talk to him about numbers, as I felt sometimes I could get sucked into issues that didn't produce the numbers. His message: forget the numbers; focus on whether the results of your work will stand the test of time. In other words, without quality, you have nothing! If you are in government work and want numbers to be what works for you, you have chosen the wrong employment sector. No government entity can do efficiency like the private sector. No private sector entity can do the roads, drainage features, water and sewer, public safety, and information systems that support them like the government.
  16. Hmmm, I liked mustard because it seems like something baseball announcers used to talk about pitchers having. One thing about him that reminds me of baseball is that he does have a fastball.
  17. It used to be hella fun when they would bring their band to play during lunch hour in downtown Dallas the day before that annual Grambling-Prairie View A&M game at the Cotton Bowl. Do they still do that? I think that was an Al Lipscomb thing.
  18. We will have to have the most complete game since Coach Mac has been here to beat Indiana.
  19. Dwayne from Minden (no relation, he just also happens to be named Dwayne), pointed out on their "Barks and Bytes" forum that the guy who coached NW State to a win over La Tech, Jay Thomas, was fired as head coach from Nicholls State. That was back in 2009, but everything was just too much a bitter pill for them, what with their having beaten us, and our having destroyed Nicholls.
  20. Man, good for you. I tried, but have had some health issues. Reading this whole thing kinda reminds me of the advice Ray Wylie Hubbard's attorney gave him: "I recommend serious drinking".
  21. I just hope he can keep his chin up and stay involved. After all, there's a lot of the season left.
  22. This whole thread is full of some pretty strange stuff, but I guess I shouldn't have expected to click on a thread entitled "disappointed" and expect not to be disappointed by its contents. It is appropriately named, anyway.
  23. I liked the idea of adding a qb volunteer coach before this weekend, but now would like to see things play out with current coaches and players for the rest of the year. I thought DW played as comfortably, poised, and smart as I've seen a UNT qb play in years. I don't want to mess with that.
