  1. I love Derek Thompson the quarterback, almost as much as Derek Thompson the man. He is the biggest thing to come out of Glen Rose since dinosaur footprints. I would almost prefer we not speak of him by name any more, but maybe just think of him sometime when the yearning for a downfield pass comes along.
  2. I'm in favor of giving Kevin Patrick serious consideration. Although our DL play has been disappointing this year, I think we have to consider the timing of his hire, late in the recruiting cycle. I do think he had something to do with signing Tuaalo, who has redshirted this year, and may turn out to be that DT who can beat a double team. I DO think, if promoted, he should continue recruiting defensive players. We may have to look at guys who can come and in play right away next year, whether JC midterm transfers or HS. I just like his overall history as a player, coach, and recruiter, as well as his demeanor on the sidelines. He seems like he's always coaching, no matter what point in the game, or what the score is. I'd like us to evaluate him on his overall record, as well as his potential for recruiting and developing defensive linemen, which has been something we've struggled with in most recent years. A roll of the dice? Maybe, but I think it could turn out to be a very smart hire.
  3. So, what is the name of the Incarnate team, the Word Slingers?
  4. I think that SSP gave us a pretty strong hint when she said that not one of the QB candidates was really moving the ball in the last scrimmage. I would like to see someone separating themselves from the pack by the end of next spring's practice. At this point, my only hope is that DW has a great off season.
  5. We won, which my wife has told me I should never complain about. As for quarterback play, we need to be much improved next year to (1) win against good teams and (2) generate more excitement, which can generate better attendance. Minimac gives it his best, and he showed more zip on the ball on the ball than I expected early on this season, but whatever his injury is seems to have affected his velocity
  6. Did we? Will we?
  7. I'm giving Chloe a +1.
  8. http://oakstreetdrafthouse.com/ Scroll down and look at the tweets bottom left. One of them mentions something like "gray long sleeved homecoming shirts, east side 2 p.m.
  9. There are things left out of every great photograph. And we all know refreshments will be happening before and after the pic is taken.
  10. That picture IS Denton. One of the best photographs in the history of photography.
  11. Heck, maybe you could do it for only 25k. You said once we should hire McCarney, and voila! Overthinking? I doubt it.
  12. There has got to be a Denton conspiracy going on. I mean, state and international media outlets (Texas Highways, THE Guardian), now it's this month's National Geographic. I can't make this stuff up; just click on the link below to see their article on eating meat. The last picture (and I read through the whole article in the print version and didn't see anything about Denton in the rest of the story) shows a bunch of people in front of your typical student rent house in yes, Denton, Texas, grilling in the yard with lines like, "I have to have a hamburger once in a while, they're really delicious". Here you go, just scroll to the end if you want to see the Denton-centric part: http://www.nationalgeographic.com/foodfeatures/meat/
  13. It took a long, strange trip to get there, but this thread ended up right where it was supposed to be, in the capable hands of the King of Gifs.
  14. These things need to be in or near downtown.
  15. And we haven't offered? What the hell is wrong with us?
  16. I heard the two guys who do the show talking about things that had worked in an overall dismal day, one of those being the two screen passes thrown to Dunbar (I thought there might have been 3 that he caught). Those were mentioned as one way of slowing down the pass rush, one of them going for 40 yards and setting up the field goal when the game was still in doubt. I think the last one, where he stayed in to block, then released to catch the pass for 12 yards, set up the last score. Let's never forget how solid and well rounded a player Dunbar was for us. So, he's going to London next, I think.
  17. I thought we were in a good position to win that SMU game if there hadn't been that high shotgun snap towards the end that sailed several feet over his head.
  18. I think the only thing we know about either of these quarterbacks is, that against conference opponents, either of them can play well for part of a game. So, I don't understand why we try to pretend that we have "the one" at quarterback, and don't just alternate them each quarter or some such. To compensate for the lack of stability, just have one running back take most of the snaps (Jimmerson?).
  19. I was actually think of just a little further south of Carlsbad, that being McKittrick Canyon in the Guadalupe Mountains of Texas.
  20. DURING THE SEASON: Special teams play. I put in evidence one 100 yard ko return by Darvin Kidsy (record?), and a punt downed at their 1 yard line by Kenny Buyers. Has this already been mentioned enough? I just wanted to make sure it was. Yes, a mistake was made, but when you keep putting the team on one guy's shoulders all the time, what do you expect? That is all.
  21. I think we need a good debate about the difference between cement and concrete; these are not interchangeable terms, folks (people in Allen, take note); http://www.differencebetween.com/difference-between-cement-and-vs-concrete/
  22. Well, the message board may not have much influence on that, but we could at least run another "who should be quarterback" poll with "NAA" as one of the options.
  23. UNT90, on 26 Oct 2014 - 12:34 PM, said: There's definitely some stuff I've found this summer that kills the queen, kills the mound, doesn't stink, and if you use it in enough places, makes any remaining fire ants move and become your neighbors problem. Let me know if you need the product name.
  24. Honestly, I could care less if he threw up a one fingered salute. At least he's a guy who actually did something to make a difference when the game was on the line.
  25. I think they haven't found the right quarterback. Sound familiar?
