  1. Hell, sign this kid. Package deal: have him bring the girls basketball coach with him to take over North Texas WBB.
  2. Mods, put this whereever you think is appropriate; I just thought I'd start it out here. By the way, this is a guy who told me that North Texas would be a winning program (when we were years from winning anything): http://highschoolsportsblog.dallasnews.com/2014/12/euless-trinity-football-coach-steve-lineweaver-retires-after-47-years-its-time.html/ Thanks for the great times you gave this community, Coach.
  3. Yes, I think the difference between Smith and the others we recruited was that they didn't really have the production at the college level that he has. This guy seems like he moved around to get playing time, and made the most of it when he got that chance.
  4. Why haven't we already hired Marcus Trice in some coaching capacity, GA, whatever. Is he on an NFL roster right now? If not, get him here and working!
  5. Never give up on this. It is so frustrating, when we all know the kind of talent that is just...not recruited by our coaching staff. Doubly frustrating when I read about Euless Trinity head coach Steve Lineweaver talking about how he'd love to see one of his guys playing "just up the road".
  6. Josh is a real man for handling things this well. I also see a lot to like in Shaq Jones. I'd love to see him here, but wish him the best, whereever
  7. This writer didn't have much good to say about him, and he sounds like he might not be the right DC for a "methodical" head coach: http://www.voodoofive.com/2013/1/10/3859052/chuck-bresnahan-hired-as-usf-defensive-coordinator
  8. Yeah, THAT was an attempt at creative writing that missed the part about fiction, where people are supposed to think it really could happen. "Hey, I coulda been a contendah".
  9. Well, when we won 9 games, we had a better Dline. I think Kevin Patrick has what it takes to build a good Dline unit.
  10. Students think creatively? Too hot? Hit the Hill and party like game day. Shade trees, cold beer. Have diploma mailed.
  11. Ok, I just don't get it. Isn't this kind of resume (up until employment at UNT) what we have been demanding as fans: http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/mike_petersen_850641.html Is there something in the process where RV lowers expectations for newly hired coaches? I find it hard, however, to explain incompetency with a conspiracy theory. I have one sister who was highly involved with her small town girls' basketball team, and understand the passion young women can have for the game, to the point of her/her family making sacrifices to stay at a school. This program seems to produce the kind of mentality of those leaving a burning building: just get out with the clothes on your back, or whatever you were or were not wearing at the time; just get out alive.
  12. This is a pretty bizarre Line of...reasoning? I guess I did first attend North Texas basketball becuse my geography professors "suggested" it. It did help having a winning coach like Bill Blakeley.
  13. I mean, what the hell do we have an "official dj" for? Not that I've attended a bb game for over 2 years, but don't we still have a basketball band? Or does anyone outside the College of Music know that musicians come here from around the world because it's their "first choice"?
  14. I'm not sure you're understanding the entitlement mentality of a place like Allen. How could that concrete not be mixed correctly, wasn't it mixed in Allen?
  15. I expect someone other than Tommy Perry to look like he's alive on our sideline, or I expect us to rise up against the Zombie Apocalypse.
  16. Yeah, damn I'm so pissed at myself for not thinking to say, "hey, if y'all knew how to pour concrete over there, you could be playing more home games".
  17. Folks from Euless commented about how nice the stadium is (probably the first time most of them saw it). I think the attendance was very close to the best (Houston?) that we have had there, so yeah kinda weird. I hated it that Allen won. As I was leaving, I heard one of the Allen fans saying that he "hoped the next game wasn't played here", so now I really hate them. Sorry, just the way I feel.
  18. Cyril Lemon is a Man.
  19. Moves closer to becoming a reality. My Tongan neighbor and I are headed to Denton to watch the Euless Trinity vs. Allen game Saturday. He says there is starting to be a lot of talk among current Euless players about UNT. Let's all give the Euless folks a big Apogee welcome this weekend and let them know what some of them are already thinking: that UNT and Denton are places where that Polynesian spirit can thrive.
  20. But Idaho doesn't have the tradition of greatness that Jerry Glanville and Mouse Davis brought to Portland State. In all seriousness, PSU has probably been more competitive against FBS teams recently than Idaho.
  21. I'm concerned that if we play them next year, they'll beat us at home after we're outrecruited by Bill Clark, who will be interviewed at some point saying, "I just sold them the program as it is, not what it will be", followed by a DMac interview where he talks about how incredibly hard it is to recruit to Denton.
  22. Good stuff, Rick.
  23. Yeah, it's hard to believe how competitive we were in that game, and nobody even seemed to care, and I can't remember, who played quarterback then. Did we even have more than one left on the roster at that point?
  24. Fixed it for you.
