Chico says' "I never saw this season coming"!
eulessismore replied to man-up UNT's topic in Mean Green Football
I can think of hundreds of thousands of reasons. -
It's Grass, man.

You couldn't detect a little sarcasm?

He fumbled in one game (I think maybe UAB, where everyone was falling apart), and never saw the field again. Mac didn't like mistakes.

I'm sure I'm one of many who don't really care about UTSA or Texas State. If those are what you aspire to, just remember that your team lost to our worst team ever this year. All that amounts to is 1 win for us and 1 loss for you, this year.

Kendal Briles -- North Texas Head Coaching Candidate
eulessismore replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Are you studying at the RV school of expectations management? Hell, none of us knows what will happen when any coach comes here. I guess your schtick reminds me of Coach Mac's, but his record here was just about the same as it was at Iowa State. Of course he claimed they done him wrong by letting him go; maybe you were working on his speeches for him. If so, at least we were spared that "they done me wrong speech". Anyway, your writings are as tiresome as Mac's speeches to me.- 187 replies

MGB breaking: Briles among those who have sent resume
eulessismore replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Well, yeah. So, he's interested in us, and some of us are saying we shouldn't be interested in him? I'm thinking that 3rd string qb is better looking than anyone I've seen playing the position for North Texas, since at least 2007. I'm going to start following members of our board around whenever I see them, so that I can pick up the wrinkled $100 bills they're leaving on the ground. What don't we like, that he's the son of a wildly successful coach who's turned a lackadaisical program into one always expected to contend at the highest level? Hell, I wouldn't care if some coach came in here and started his son at qb. If that were a situation already working in our favor, we'd say he had a great pedigree and that was one of the reasons we thought he'd be a great coach for us. -
I was just thinking today that one of my interview questions of a head coaching candidate would be "do you like to travel". I'm kinda thinking Mac didn't like to travel anywhere he didn't own a home.
-
He'll have to be a hell of a coach before I can hear his name without thinking "Hockey Night in Canada".
-
I have thought about that, and what with that having been a problem with a family member, don't doubt it's a likelihood. Still, all those out there making a fraction of what Mac was getting paid by the time he left know that no matter how much a supervisor might like to cut some slack with a personal or family health issue, they can't let the organization go to hell because of it.

If recruiting is indeed the #1 priority for this hire...

So, what's up with the "4." to start your post, do you have your quotable quotes numbered? -
We can't HANDLE the truth.

I actually do like Clay Jennings resume, and he looks like someone who knows the value of time in the weight room. And hey, Freddie Kitchens has a great story, and he coaches at the University of Phoenix...Stadium.
-
Well, I just looked at his Wikipedia page, which looks like it's written by friends and family, but still shows 1 winning record in 6 years and a won loss percentage about the same as coach Mac's, so I'm wondering which opening you're talking about. Have we announced that we'll be hiring an AD?

You can't say we didn't know what to expect.

Who Should Be The Next Head Coach @UNT
eulessismore replied to Eagle-96's topic in Mean Green Football
Hey, maybe a CFL guy like Tedford could come down here and coach in their offseason. -

Oh well, I guess "what did we expect"? -
It's quiet in here tonight and I think I know why
eulessismore replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Maybe if they were undefeated, which they're not, and won out. The Big 12 just seems to think they can rely on that "tradition", which means nothing to so many. -

I enjoyed reading the stuff about Dooley, as y'all were our last opponents and so it seemed appropriate. But not enough to make it a lasting thing. -
Womens Basketball, UNT 61 - OU 57 - final
eulessismore replied to ADLER's topic in Mean Green Football
Really, I do think Jalie may show us something: that even after 2 terrible consecutive hires (I consider Aston to be a nonfactor since her leaving so early only led to the Peterson hire), that the third time may indeed be the charm. Something to remember for another sport, perhaps. -

I did suspect that Jalie might be "the one". -
I do find it somewhat bothersome that a school that has turned such some great wordsmiths as UNT doesn't impress the usefulness of coherent writing to some students, although I guess I got the message. I may find it even more disturbing that ULM has actually beaten some of the powerhouse schools they've played. Yeah, Todd Berry wasn't a great coach, but was better in some ways, and really no worse overall than someone we paid a lot more.

Well he did coach UNC one year, with a record of 7-6. It seems like he took over from Butch Davis being fired during the summer of 2011 and coached them through the regular season and a bowl game, then accepted the position at JMU. The guy also has plenty of NFL experience. Personally, I'd be thrilled if we got him. If you can think of a better candidate we can get with head coaching experience at the FBS level, I'm all in. I'm just not interested in another retread with an overall losing record as head coach, no matter how well versed they are in coach speak.
