  1. I'm guessing Fedora called that ridiculous fake punt attempt, since he wasn't outraged by it. Overall though, Clemson is just dominating the line of scrimmage on both sides, and has quit shooting themselves in the foot.
  2. If he wins enough, I'll excuse him from the Toastmasters meetings.
  3. With the whole season a cluster f* that may have started when Demarcus didn't get qualified to take part in spring training (or in the years that McCarney and Chico mismanaged the QB position, including not giving anyone else garbage time reps when we were blowing out people), maybe Saturday was just icing on the cake. Not sure what I'd call that cake right now. Of one thing I'm sure; I'm not feeling sentimental about those who have left, or who are in the process of leaving.
  4. Rick, How many of those new hires receiving less than 5 year contracts are not interim coaches being made "permanent"? I really think the whole thing is perceived market value of a candidate. Also, how about hiring someone we expect to get hired away from us, and not having a reasonable buyout clause? I think one of the real goof ups was the amount of buyout for Karen Aston.
  5. Heck, he played basketball at UNC on a national championship team? Hire him as wide receivers coach and have him coach MBB in the football offseason.
  6. Hey, I had no real reason to doubt you, just couldn't resist a little word play.
  7. I can think of another UNC coach who came to Texas and did pretty well recruiting further south on IH35. I don't recall his having much history in Texas until then.
  8. Hey, Tulane, UNO?
  9. It was good enough for George Washington.
  10. No, but the Holy Trinity wouldn't be the same without him.
  11. I love the honesty with which some of them have described their own religion (actually named "Unitas Fratrum", or "Unity of the Brethren"), in so many words, "the food was the best part". If you are ever in Winston Salem around lunch or dinner time, do not miss a meal at the Old Salem Tavern in the Old Salem Historic District. You will never regret choosing the chicken pot pie.
  12. My family history goes back to at least 1732 in North Carolina, helping the Moravians settle there, as they did in the Bethlehem, Pennsylvania area, so I can see that things may seem to take a long time there.
  13. I think the alumni pay a lot of the athletic expenses of the Naval Academy. At least a guy from their message board mentioned mentioned them paying the head coach's salary, back when we played them a few years ago.
  14. Honestly Harry, I'm never been treated anything but great every time I travel to North Carolina. I hope we get an away game at UNC Charlotte in the near future, and I'll travel to see it.
  15. Put Rudy in charge of securing the crime scene.
  16. Chapel Hill is an interesting place, I have extended family by marriage there, so have been a few times in recent years. It seems kind of like a cross between Denton and Austin, but with more pine trees and an assumption of basketball greatness.
  17. If I could afford it, that would be right up there among my choices.
  18. Have him and Dillman swap positions?
  19. +1. I'm still in the Meacham camp, but I've moved out to the perimeter, and am looking around.
  20. Heck, I agree with what our manager at work said once; Derek Thompson is the real deal. At least he realized before his senior season that he needed to get better, and in face did get better by working hard that offseason.
  21. Hey, I agree. He seems like a young'un to me. He was hanging in there working on the sidelines in a cold, driving rain last night, and helping do what it took to win.
  22. This from wikipedia: December 16, 1964 (age 50). So Meacham will be 51 in a little over 2 weeks. Ah, to be 51 again.
