JUCO Ejiya Ejodamen LB - SIGNED LOI
eulessismore replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Well, honestly, that's historically a very good FCS program, probably attractive to one who doesn't mind the cold. That said, I hope we can convince him of a fit for the style of defense he has played, and a higher ceiling that can be reached in Denton. -
MGB Saturday night recruiting notes

I take this JUCO heavy thing as "let's win, and soon". That's what I read, which indicates that both of us still have some eyesight left; good for this old man. -
So, he was close to Fort Sill? Maybe he thinks of Monroe as getting closer to Fort Polk.

Littrell's recruiting strategy going forward

Ok, I'll just have to say that even if any other FBS coach would have had McNulty playing quarterback, I don't think they would have advanced their own career by doing so. It was just misguided not to have him move to another position, maybe safety. -
You still can; file an application for a name change.

I love it getting Bain, like Vito said, it only made sense.

MGB: Augie DeBiase talks about visit to UNT
eulessismore replied to Brett Vito's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
If it's who I think you're talking about, I've read enough elsewhere to think that players family may have been more active than others in that regard. Probably not the family where one of them wore headphones during the games. -
Concise and well written.

Because he is still employed here, and no one who cares enough has figured out how to change that. -

Hey thanks. I tried to look up the stats on Means, but couldn't find them. I did know that those numbers being under 50% for his senior year didn't look promising for a college qb career. I wonder if Means may be moved to another position. Tight end? -
I also think this issue would be worth reexamining next fall, whether we are losing or not (and I'm not really expecting a winning season next year). What made me wonder about the original premise of your thread was the depiction of McCarney being the consistent disciplinarian that I don't think he always was. My main reason for that was the incident involving a former player, who after leaving the team in the offseason, for what McCarney described as "personal issues", turned up in court months later to plead to an assault charge, which, according to one GMG member, resulted from him and another former player (already graduated, so probably no reason to expect any comment) brutally beat up some guy over on Fry Street bad enough that he had to be taken to the hospital. Now, as I recall, McCarney dismissed the guy after the guilty plea, without comment. It seems like, when he originally left the team, McCarney was quoted as saying he would be back, like whatever it was didn't amount to much. Hey, I'm like most Americans, in favor of a second chance, and I'm damn sure glad I got more than that, because I needed them. It just seems odd enough to me reading about some of the recent unpleasantness in Denton, that I wouldn't mind having him learn to sing the old Steppenwolf favorite "Goddamn the Pusher Man" with sincerity. And I'm no goody two shoes in these matters, having come of age in the 1960's and, enjoying myself tremendously. You're right though, speaking of recent unpleasantness; continual improvement at quarterbacking should be priority one in UNT football. Well, maybe second, after not getting into trouble with the law.

eulessismore replied to TravisUNT's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
I saw him at Apogee when Euless Trinity played (and lost to) Allen in the 2014 playoffs. I hope like hell we get him to Denton, because there's a lot he can do for the team, and a lot that making an opening to Euless Trinity can do for our program. I do not think of him as a good candidate for quarterback however. Let him play a variety of positions, as he has enjoyed doing most of his life. For those of you who are not familiar with Euless Trinity football, think throwback, power I, pass to set up the run, get the ball to your various running backs. But we also should not be thinking that operating from a spread dictates a pass heavy offense; a lot of programs run much more than pass out of the spread. We want guys like this, because we want to continue having success running (and even more by being better at passing), but we've got to get on track with a modern passing game. Quarterback candidates who didn't get that much practice throwing it in high school are at a disadvantage compared to those who have. -
I have encountered that theory of people coming to Denton to get cleaned up, but it seems strange. I mean, it seems like there were a few weeks recently when the shit going down in Denton sounded like nothing could explain it better than an abundance of PCP.
