Jason Bean playing well for Kansas
eulessismore replied to Dannymacfan's topic in Mean Green Football
And using a 4 month old thread to construct a fake narrative about him? -
I only hope the best for him, with the thought when he's playing at a championship level, that sports reporters will mention his past affiliation with UNT as often as they do his age.

The first time someone on here mentioned the possibility of Eric Morris and I looked at what he had done at Texas Tech, Incarnate Word and Washington State, I could see that his work had at least some factor in the success of quarterback at those places. It doesn't appear that he was qb coach at Tech during the time Patrick Mahomes was playing there; however, the fact that he was offensive coordinator makes me think he had something to do with Mahomes' success. And Cameron Ward was a pretty good success story at UIW and WSU. Anyone who thinks winning out there on the Palouse is easy needs to look at what the state of that program was after the tumult of the previous season and what PAC 12 programs have been doing lately. And honestly, the loss of interest by UNT fans was not just because of the won loss record or the lack of competitiveness in big games, but the lack of quarterback development and offensive explosiveness since the days of Mason Fine and Graham Harrell. Noone after Mason left made our fan base feel like we could come from behind or hold a lead late in the game, or that, more generally, the offense could either win the game for us, or avoid losing games for us. One of the coaches some here were touting had the services of Hendon Hooker, who transferred to Tennessee and was responsible for a lot of the recent success there. His numbers really were not that great before he transferred, so some of the complaints we had about evaluating and developing quarterback talent could have been just as fairly made by fans of that well regarded and currently unemployed. Y'all can say and do what you want, but I'm going to start buying season tickets and attending UNT football games again, like I did before 2020.

Update from Footballcoop.com (Monday Morning)
eulessismore replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
Dang, this is a rough crowd. I'm 75, and spent all my life in Texas except for a couple of years in the Army and a couple of years in the Pacific Northwest (after graduating from then NTSU). Just spit balling the numbers, it looks like I'm in the same boat as Morris as far as "Texas roots" (and hey, I don't know about him, but I've got the drawl). Of course some here say he's never coached any quarterback, been a head coach or coached at the G5 level, so maybe some board members here have more to prove than he does. -
So, do you really think our schedule last season is comparable to Washington State's? USC, Utah, Oregon, Oregon State and UCLA might disagree. After so many said LIttrell could win 9 or more games no problem because our schedule was so easy?
-
Well, it seems like he might know something about quarterbacks, which has been an issue here for a while.

Exactly. We need to look at this realistically, regardless of how the accusations against him have unfolded: 1.) We need younger blood, and 2.) For whatever reasons, valid or not, he's been out of coaching at the college level for 7 years. You don't keep your talents fresh by not using them, and there have been sea changes in college football since then. And we have recent experiences with hiring someone with associations from that period of Baylor football. For that, we lost an offensive coordinator position being fully staffed for a year due to subsequent accusations, as muddled or unjust as they were.

Why can’t Jarod Mosley be our AD?
eulessismore replied to meangreenfaninno's topic in Mean Green Football
It should at least to be a tiebreaker. The AD should be expected, among other things, to be good at sales, and being seen as approachable could help one sell, I'd think. -
They deserve a modicum of praise for finding a guy named "Biff" as their new hfc. Still, a pronunciation guide for "Poggi" would be nice.
-
If he was a coach stepping down a level or two and struggling, people would attribute it to a lack of support from the new school.

So Leipold came to FBS Buffalo from D3 Wisconsin-Whitewater. Considering that, what would you think about this guy: https://pittstategorillas.com/sports/football/roster/coaches/brian-wright/642, or this one: https://uiwcardinals.com/sports/football/roster/coaches/g-j-kinne/2626?

Scrappy's Influence on the Program
eulessismore replied to meanJewGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
So, should this bring the nude or nearly so PETA demonstrators to Apogee some Saturday? I hope so. -
Never might be too soon. A member of my extended family is a retired dentist from Iowa City who used to play golf with Hayden Fry, and informed me of the "Hayden Fry Way" street naming. That street was actually not in Iowa City but its suburb, Coralville. So, maybe a "suburb" of Denton could rename one of their streets after Danny Mac. https://www.press-citizen.com/picture-gallery/sports/college/iowa/2019/12/18/archives-hayden-fry-way-commemorated-fry-fest-2009-iowa-football/2689462001/

Man, if he beats UTSA, we'd be on track to hit 6 and lose another bowl game in blowout fashion.

Parachute “drop in” pre game Saturday ?
eulessismore replied to greenjoe's topic in Mean Green Football
Well, every military unit, including paratroopers, has someone designated as "rumor control". You must be that someone. -
I went with (like most) conference championships, largely because that's what the current head coach defined as the goal when he arrived here. That said, it would be a real gut punch to win the CUSA championship this year and go on to lose the following bowl game, especially if we're noncompetitive.
-
If we're evenly matched, which I'm not sure of considering how close some of their losses were, I think they should have the edge due to being able to get out of Florida when that's a thing that would lift the spirits of many. And hey, winning one for (folks back home, the gipper or whatever else sounds good here).

Country songs that explain being a North Texas Football Fan
eulessismore replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Football
But that chorus. -
Thank you for the correction; I should have researched that before posting the topic. At least looking it up on the Internet did make me realize that there actually is such an animal (more properly a "binturong"), and the Cincinnati Zoo loans one to the University of Cincinnati sports teams for appearances: https://gobearcats.com/sports/2017/6/12/what-is-a-bearcat.aspx

Update regarding UNT Sports TV/Radio/Video Etc.
eulessismore replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Uh, yeah. I mean isn't that where people listen to the radio?
