I still remember watching us on TV, I think against La Tech, when their run game was just ripping us a new one, the announcer saying, "and North Texas stays in a 3-4 scheme", as though he just couldn't figure out what our defensive philosophy was. Not that any of us did.

Thanks, Harry. I was just trying to figure out how it was that one member posted that there was "only one left", and Vito quoted Littrell as mentioning "scholarships" still available (to be used before school starts next fall). The whole NCAA rules thing has a ton of moving parts.
-
Harry, I'm just trying to reconcile this with what I read from Vito; if you scroll all the way to the bottom, under "briefly", Vito quotes Littrell as mentioning the possibility of signing additional players before fall with "leftover scholarships": http://www.dentonrc.com/sports/colleges/20160204-littrell-introduces-two-quarterbacks.ece Hey, just wondering. That was written early this morning, so probably came from the NSD event.

One scholarship? How did we start out with 25, give 19, and only have one left? -
Not unless they're playing us. At least as far as the printed newspaper goes, all news is still local.

This guy is going to be at the right place. I was actually wondering when reading all the expressions of anxiety being posted, "hey, do any of the people posting these things ever have a bunch of things requiring their attention at the same time, and things just not going right?"

According to this (from the DMN), we have one, Nic Smith. Jeesh, people, can't we at least be accurate? http://res.dallasnews.com/interactives/sportsday-top-recruits/

I could understand what he was saying. I do think we misunderstand the ability of others to come into a months long thread and figure out where it took a turn to the ironic and appreciate our subtle wit. I think the recent GMG members are just here for the players, and those players really are what this time of year is about.

JUCO epidemic across the country

My understanding, from working in an office with players parents, is this: get used to it. -
Every time I hear this story, I think there must have been serious drinking involved.

meangreenbob, that's the shortest post I can remember from you, and yes, I also agree.

Yep, I may have been too generous with an A-, but I think they worked hard and got players who can help us win.

Thanks Mark, and I had nothing against the young man, but never could understand why we had some of the guys we did playing quarterback. It seems like there's a tendency to dismiss any efforts that others made, but darn, we had a guy, Brent Osborn, who could move the ball, but when he did got pulled out of the game. I just think that maybe Mac was an unrecognized Dinosaur, and couldn't understand the Pteradactyl.

Not to downplay your concerns, but I looked at the 247 site, and it has us ranked 114, at least ahead of Rice and Charlotte, and only crediting us with 17 recruits (no credit for English and Morris?). Yeah, we were in a deep hole, but I'm just saying. I guess the main problem I saw with Mac and his staff was basically indifference to the passing game. Since McNulty and (apparently) Josh (sorry I can't even remember his last name) are gone, maybe we can get something started that resembles modern football. I never expect to us get a turnover so close to their end zone as we did the first time we had the ball against SMU and run the ball up the middle 3 times. And I'm really not sure if being unable to remember Josh's last name is a good or bad thing.

Not really, and I've been having conversations with bankers, land surveyors, and engineers lately. -
I find it hard to care; he left on a sour note, but this is isn't a big deal.

http://meangreenblog.dentonrc.com/2016/01/daundrey-bradley-announces-he-is-staying-at-unt.html/ However, subsequent to that article, BillySee58 wrote something about him not being back on the roster yet. I haven't checked the roster, but am not sure how well they keep that updated. -

I sure hope so; other than the punter and the safeties, he was the only consistent bright spot in the second half of the season. I don't remember him being used as a receiver though; just made a lot of great returns. Hopefully, this is just incompetence on the part of whoever maintains the roster data. -
I would not think students would assume that staying in New Mexico after college is a realistic option for most. Even people I know who are New Mexico natives describe the hiring process as cronyism, or brother-in-law deals, whatever. I will say that one of the most talented artists I have known was forced to become a professional artist after returning to New Mexico from Texas and discovering that it was so unlikely to become hired with 2 college degrees and years of experience that the hard road to being self supporting as an artist was the easier path.
