I liked Vito mentioning Bennett's having a good work ethic; look how that's worked out for us with Casey Fitzgerald. We need overachievers more than we need players with multiple offers.

Unt Posts Construction Manager Position For Stadium

A good point; I was listening to sort of a DFW regional business roundtable where they were talking about prospects for this area. Local leaders are saying (homers that they are) that we are doing better here than the nation as a whole, but that retail is down. I'm sure other sectors are doing worse, and financial services problems are causing widespread negative effects. I just don't think the business model for construction materials results in deflated prices for those materials; if steel demand is down, steel plants cut production, furlough workers, etc. I think it really does work as a "just in time" supply chain. Conversely, a lot of things seem to cause upward prices on materials; I was experiencing sticker shock from buying copper wire about a year and a half ago. I'd like to see downward pressure on such prices, but still say, don't count on it for a multi-year project. -
Well, we do need that athleticism. Honestly, I'm much more concerned as to whether we will have anyone who can coach the fundamentals of special teams play.

Yeah, I was thinking as I was posting, this sounds kinda like what Republican Texas Comptroller Carole Keeton Rylander (insert whatever other names and political affiliations) said that the previous, Democratic Comptroller Bob Bullock told her. In so many words, it was make sure you don't project revenues higher than your actual revenues, to the extent that you don't cover the actual expenses with your actual revenues. Hmmm, you're right, not too exciting! -

It seems reasonable to question whether fuel costs and their impacts on other materials will remain low. After all, who has predicted the recent price swings for fuel costs with any accuracy (Southwest Airlines may have been among the best at that). As far as the labor market, commercial and institutional construction labor are usually separate work forces from residential, with government (as Obama has proposed to favorable reviews) often stepping in to accelerate the pace of public works projects, providing work to said commercial construction workers. Also, those are the construction workers, even in the south, who are more unionized, compared to residential construction, keeping pressure on wages to stay high. Although there may be reason to hope that construction costs will remain low, or even decline, that is not something government officials usually want to assume, for fear of the worse of two alternatives, underestimating project costs. -
I don't know, we seem to be the only ones betting on them so far.

i like that he's tall and fast, hope he can cover!

as long as it's within the rules and before the whistle blows. i did find an interview with Joe Greene one time interesting, where he mentioned that he thought he improved after he was injured by not trying to hit the quarterback hard so much as just to keep him from moving the ball.

You're right; and we owe a BIG apology to the original poster of that thread. Here's to you, Dallasite21 man of genius.

I suspected as much from what Tuberville was saying back when Franklin was fired.

Well, I'm not real excited over TD returning next year, but I'm kind of wondering if maybe this isn't that good a year for hiring head coaches. Of course, this is just one, but Auburn sure generated a lot of media interest in their coaching situation this year to have ended up making this hire.

I'm with you man, and to hell with that green koolaid, let's double down on the genius juice! -
Well, he didn't show improvement, but your avatar did.

This is an intentional challenge by Auburn to those at UNT who think we could make a good head coaching hire, like "hey, you think you can do any better?".
-
You're right, of course. This does make me wonder however, how Theodore Roosevelt made time to cajole college football into changing, with all the work he had to do with passing child labor laws, fighting the "malefactors of great wealth", etc.
-
Well, it appears that this is ONE thing on which Obama and congressional Republicans (some, anyway) agree.
-
Dude, it's already been presented and discussed in the other topic on this subject. If anyone thinks this present system gives us "nonAQ" members a chance, I've only seen evidence to the contrary. Other anti-BCS, pro Sun Belt in playoffs topic

Come on people now...

I must agree. I still have high hopes that those who were in the DT rotation this year can improve by experience, rehab from injury, etc to make greater contributions next year, and allow those who were more suited to DE to return to their natural position. However, I am truly excited about our new DT recruit as well as the thought of seeing Tevinn Cantly on the field for the first time. I think that getting more pressure on the quarterback will help our pass defense tremendously.

There, fixed it for ya; and I guess that covers all of what is called "Division I".

My understanding is that a medical "redshirt" results in 6 years to play four. As to any greater detail on that issue, I tried to figure it out one time, but my brain exploded.

With better special teams play, we could have beaten Arkansas State, and doubled our win total for this year, presented ourselves to potential recruits and donors as a program which is not regressing, and, oh the money...won't we have DD paid off at some point? Bailout from congress? Only if UNT football incorporates as a bank.
-
I agree with you on this. However, I think Dodge is so hell-bent on keeping all his assistants that the best option would be the creation of a new position, someone who ONLY coaches special teams. That way, rather than this being considered a dreaded coaching CHANGE, it could be considered a coaching ADDITION. I don't know if anyone felt the same as me when we scored right before halftime of the Arky State game, taking a LEAD, and had a sinking feeling that we would give up a touchdown just before half to lose that lead by giving up a big special teams play. That seems like what happened.

Buffalo's Turner Gill.........coach Of The Year?
eulessismore replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
I was wondering the same thing. What a pathetic administrative and athletic collapse to end a previously brilliant season.
