I've heard a lot of people say that the length of an "inch" is overstated to where nobody is sure how long one is.
-
Good to hear we're getting a smarter crowd!

One theory I've seen is to replace the QB with a running back; the modern wildcat replaces the wingback with a receiver. We have at least one receiver in this year's class who has been a QB, and is supposedly a tough athlete.
-
I'd love to see that; I'm from Wichita Falls where they used the single wing for years under the legendary Joe Golding. Won some state championships that way! Some say it was the original spread formation; but the wildcat is used a lot differently than the old single-wing; now it's more of a change up, maybe half run, half pass, I think.

I had a dream that this was true, a week or so ago. Someone else mentioned, in another thread, also having that dream. It was so real, I can remember being stunned that we had won. Honestly, watching Ball State play Tulsa last year, I was struck by how similar they looked to us against the same team. Yes, they were dealing with cold rainy weather, wherever that bowl game was played, but so was Tulsa.

I'm hoping next month is soon enough!

A Request To Our Members
eulessismore replied to Harry's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
The ovation just keeps getting louder. Hey folks, speaking of audio volume, think of this: in her "CEO" interview on Channel 13, President Bataille mentioned that one thing the new stadium is designed for is keeping the sound inside. To me, that shows that real concerns are being addressed. -
The manager where I work has a son who was one of Cantly's teammates at Arlington Lamar, and says that Cantly is the most impressive player he's seen come out of Lamar, and is a "stud". a "hoss". Honestly, Cantly's first year with actual playing time is something I've been looking forward to for a while. I can't wait to remind our manager that he'll be able to see Cantly play on TV September 3.

Unt Ranks 109th In Athletic Dept. Revenue
eulessismore replied to MeanGreenZen's topic in Mean Green Football
Heck, just look at what the school one notch DOWN from us has done to US last year, and every other time we've played, and then we all know about Troy at four places back. Not to agree with TFLF on all things, but a lot of schools have been doing a lot more than us with considerably less money. -
I see so many people around this Hurst-Euless-Bedford area wearing UNT t-shirts that I'm thinking every North Texas promotional campaign should include giving away plenty of those. I just had this thought about offering to buy every person I see wearing one a drink. On the other hand, most of those t-shirt wearers being female, good looking, and much younger than me could get me in trouble at home.

And So It Begins
eulessismore replied to oldguystudent's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Gee Rick, that seems kinda harsh. On the other hand, I don't think you've posted a new thread about health care whatever you want to call it for at least an entire hour now! -
I don't hate Riley; I love him, although many here in Euless resent that a team he quarterbacked beat our high school team in the playoffs. I'll love him more if he quarterbacks a North Texas team that is noticeably improved offensively in 2009. The measures for improvement would be (1.) games won, and (2.) points scored. That is not to say that said lack of scoring or winning was entirely on last year's offensive players. I don't really have any single answer for the lack of offensive scoring, it seemed like a team problem (yes, including coaching staff). I agree with those who say the lack of winning was mainly due to defense and special teams. I think we can have a successful season, which I would consider to be 4 or more wins, and being competitive in all but one or two games, if Riley is one part of overall improved team play.

I thought it did. Of course, as we all know, there was no tailgating in those days. I've wondered if, considering those who don't inside the stadium to watch the game, if UNT tailgating isn't now the biggest outdoor party in Texas north of Austin. Back in those days, big parties were called "keggers" and held out in the country with big bonfires. And the alternative cigarette scene? I think Denton, and Denton County, were more than small players. Many of you may recall a guy named Rex Cauble, head of the "Texas Mafia" before he got busted. Somewhere I read that when he got busted, the amount seized was the record at that time. Oh, I just knew there had to be a UNT link there somewhere: Alumni, Rex Cauble donated the Model A Ford, known as the "Green Machine" to North Texas: Scroll down to read about Cauble's "Green Machine" donation.

After we signed Shavod Atkinsson(sp?), someone who had played with him in high school posted, on some sports forum, that Shavod had been used then to run in short yardage situations. I do agree it would probably be someone from our running back or tight end positions.

Maybe HKS has been looking at so many of the photos posted on this board and decided, "hey, nobody ever sits in endzone seating anyway; let's put this "winged" idea out there and see if (1) it gets built, and (2) if anyone ever sits there.

Hey, he's someone with practice at hanging onto the ball when there's "heat" coming at him. Let's use him on kickoff returns! Fitzpatrick was a third-team selection at designated hitter, though he was the starting catcher for the Mustangs this season. He hit .343 with three homers, 23 RBIs and 19 runs.

Who Says We Don't Get National Exposure..
eulessismore replied to gomngrn08's topic in Mean Green Football
Why pay attention to anyone who rates WKU above us when we've beaten them last year and the year before? It came down to the last play, so consider those wins flukes? -
People sometimes wear black to make themselves look smaller. Why should a football team want that?

Maybe you could enlighten those who are as clueless as I am then. Don't get me wrong, I think you played this about as well as anyone could. -
