Officials Blew This Game And That's Not Overreacting
eulessismore replied to NorthTexan95's topic in Mean Green Football
So, did anyone see what happened to put that ref on his back during one of our running plays early in the game? I just wondered how that happened; maybe he just got in the RB's way. -
I have a hard time accepting that Tune has no intangibles. He's cool under pressure; I like to think of him as "Cool Hand Tune".

Is Td Able To Evaluate Talent ?

Because he's our biggest offensive weapon? -
But they couldn't have done anything to stop it.

Officials Blew This Game And That's Not Overreacting

Yes, I've been fighting saying this, but feel that, over the last two games, we've seen regression that must be addressed. Some of the improvements have been quite impressive; the kickoff returns of Royce Hill, punt and kickoff coverage, and Will Atterberry's punting, but it seems like the last two losses would have been wins if not for problems with kicking off and punting. I still think some of the problem was our blocking for the kicker and punter, so I'm not saying it's all the fault of the kicker, and the punter may turn out to be an all time great, but we can't win in close games without having at least an adequate, in all respects, kicking game. -
If we're going to talk about weird play calls, that would be the play to start with. If anyone can explain that, please do so.

I hope he's a senior.

It probably doesn't matter much in the big picture of things, but I have it good authority that he's 31.

Please Let Me Be An Over-reacting Douche

Hey, thanks for being big enough to admit you were wrong about Tune. Yes, I had a higher opinion of him than you previous expressed, but I honestly didn't expect those 3 unanswered td's that gave us the lead (for a while). Dodge described him in the post game show as being "cool", that's also what his high school coach said about him. The big surprise: that he scrambled for positive yardage, but he did run track in high school (I believe). I've got to admit one thing you've mentioned before about wanting in a qb, height, being one thing I notice as a positive attribute Tune has when he's in the game. -
I was noticing that lack of pressure on the qb tonight. I don't pretend to know what's wrong, but yes, we need to put more pressure on opposing qb's. The secondary can't stay in coverage long enough to overcome that lack of pressure.

You can't be both in the"Top ten funny guys" AND call time outs. Please, choose one.

Maybe they were mad because one of them got knocked on his butt on one of our running plays early in the game. I don't know why he was in the way. Was he in on the tackle? Maybe he should get credit for an assist. -
I tried to throw something..."big" out there.

Health Care Reform Debate
eulessismore replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I don't think that, in and of itself, makes you any of those things. However, in my times as a beer drinker, I had the same opinion of said beers as you stated concerning the NFL owners and the overall treatement of Rush Limbaugh in that matter, "Weak....and wishy-washy at best". Nope, nothing wrong with bias, necessarily, I just have a hard time when those stating a political point of view quote a source as "unbiased". A noble concept, but where does "unbiased" exist? Maybe political writers are like statisticians, who have their heads in the freezer, their feet in the oven, and on the average, are quite comfortable. -

I agree with the "WHO CARES" part of the above, and have mixed opinions about the "rather interesting owners" part. The Jerry Jones regime is uninteresting enough to me that I have stopped following them, except for the occasional "check out the last few minutes of the game". That way, I haven't wasted an afternoon of the best seasonal weather in this area, and am, in my view, boycotting someone with whose views I disagree. Specifically, my policy disagreements with Jones are 1.)trading draft picks for free agents, due to the relatively short productive careers of NFL players, and 2.)being a "hands on" manager, rather than just hiring the best general manager and head coach available and letting them do their work. Still, it's a free country, and Jerry and I will agree to disagree. And you who (Conservatives mostly, it seems) feel the NFL owners have done Limbaugh wrong by "caving; you're free to boycott the NFL just as I am, for the most part, doing. Hey, I do miss watching those games, but when I think of our local high school football coach, and the booster club for Euless Trinity, holding their "Coaches Corner" meeting on Monday nights, I can sense that, even football wise, there are more important things than watching pro football on TV. Surely there are enough politically conservative football fans to bring the NFL owners to their knees by boycotting watching them on TV. It should work just about as well as boycotting Disney (owner of the network broadcasting Monday Night Football at the time) over the domestic partner benefits did. -

Dudes, hate to tell anyone, but the NFL is just a billionaire's boy's club. If one guy (Jim Irsay) says he'll vote no, that probably dooms Limbaugh. And if anyone thinks the NFL owners are somehow politically and culturally monolithic, they might look up the bio of such owners as Irsay on Wikipedia. I hate for someone politically left of center such as myself to be asking this, but shouldn't privately held financial entities, unless they're breaking some law that nobody has pointed out, get to make their own decisions? Maybe a better question would be: did anyone here think the NFL owners were REALLY going to allow Limbaugh to be part of the ownership of an NFL team? That said, I'm sure that considerations of media were taken into account; such as said owners playing back an imaginary broadcast news item, starting out with, "Conservative radio talk host and part owner of the NFL Indianapolis Colts Rush Limbaugh was quoted today as saying..." Those owners are guys with huge egos who want the FOOTBALL part of the story, and the occasional charitable effort, to get the news play. Yes, we have the First Amendment protecting freedom of expression, but all that protects us against is government actions. If anyone thinks they'll never pay a price for saying whatever they want to say, just try it before getting on an airplane or applying for a job. I will hold a belated pity party for Limbaugh's medical privacy being violated several years ago. -
Just wondering if this would have a "BIG" win feel to it.

Longing For The Day This Is An Issue For Us
eulessismore replied to SHOSS's topic in Mean Green Football
What basis do the schools have for claiming otherwise? 1.) College football teams would still be featuring the flying wedge if it weren't for an activist President, Teddy Roosevelt. 2.) Colleges throughout the southern and border states would still be "separate but equal" by race, it it weren't for activist federal judges. Those activists gave North Texas a parity of sorts (for a while anyway) by forcing desegregation on us first. 3.) Colleges throughout the northern and western states would still be outperforming the colleges from the southern and border states, due to having the advantage of the diversity which would still be shunned down south, and it would be more difficult to question the superiority and entitlement of the Big 10, Big 8, Pac 10, or whoever used to dominate the "National Championship" games during segregation days. -
And hey, I notice Mitch Maher is reading in this thread. Hey, Mitch, if you're at the tailgate Saturday, you're welcome to come by for some good food! I think you're the guy I used to watch playing qb in the early 80's.

I figured about 1:00-1:30; hope to cook a slight variation on the chicken kebabs I did for the Ohio game, Tasty mentioned the need for more balance of meat and vegetables than we had last time, and the kebabs have some fruit and vegetables. You talked to Tasty, or any of the other guys?

I also hope it's wrong, but I'm glad someone is making us the underdog. Some confidence is good, but the last thing we need at this point is too many people talking about how "improved" we are. Yes, we are improved, but keep the team focused on just winning this game.

I guess his father had recently died; he'd been out "looking for a headstone for his grave". Story on USM player's death I know I get caught up in my own emotions sometimes following our football team, but who knows what any person is going through at any given time. We should remember that the young men playing college football are at a time which typically involves a difficult transition anyway. I know I can be indifferent to others' needs; I think we all are at times. It's useful to remember that a lot of people out there have big problems; even a kind word, a smile, or pat on the back might help.
