  1. Yeah, I was kind of thinking of the Golden Knights Parachute Team or something.
  2. Ah, ok; now I've read back through enough of the thread to get it...dang, are you guys going to make it where the whole thread has to be read? I can think of a few where that could be tough! As for "making out", my wife was out of town, so y'all can reach your own conclusions!
  3. I'm not sure if you and I were talking about the same thing, but I agree with your statement anyway.
  4. I view Riley as a pretty brainy guy, and think he'll be able to think things through when it comes to a major life decision like that. There's always a point when a young person will have to separate their own priorities from their parents. I think Todd loves Riley and will want him to make the decision that's best for him. What if Todd had to decide as Hawkins has at Colorado, that he'll have to go with another quarterback? I think Todd would make a decision based on what's best for his career. It's not just the livelihood of a head coach at stake, but those of his assistants.
  5. Hey, I did listen to Todd Dodge's postgame show, where he said as much; actually, he also admitted to it being his fault for the coaching end of what he called "losing as a team". I did find it interesting that he said the team "expected to win". I guess I can understand that, maybe in comparison to playing Alabama, but I don't see what would make our team expect to win. I question that whole mentality; I'd rather coaches avoid expecting to win or lose. I have no problem with losing, but I have to agree with the opinion expressed by my dear departed Mother who said once about the Cowboys, "I hate to see them play badly".
  6. No, man. I just felt kind of headachey and wussed out; I blame the entire lackluster nature of our team's performance on my going awol.
  7. I was hoping we could extend other forms of hospitality.
  8. And not to praise SMU, but they did have a pregame tribute before they played Navy this year (even further away from Veterans Day), with Navy fighter jets doing a flyover and a Navy Seals jumper delivering the game ball (and hey, the Army trains parachutists for all military branches). Also, they offered free game admission to anyone with a military ID. I know there's a lot of negativity being felt and expressed on the board now, and I can understand that. I think it would only be right for us to recognize right now how much the Army family is hurting right now due to recent events, and that putting on a good game atmosphere and trying to get as good an attendance as possible for both sides could be beneficial for all concerned.
  9. I would like to say this, and as someone who's an Army veteran (although briefly, and never fired a shot except in practice). The Army community is hurting right now, due to recent events, which are of a nature which no one can prepare to handle. I would love to see us reach out to do whatever it takes to get as many Army fans to our game and make them feel welcome (except on the field) as possible.
  10. The juggling will never be done, but the first time I spent with Arlene, she was painting faces.
  11. I have to agree with the general premise of John Denver's thread. Overall, we just haven't stopped the pass for the last three years, since I started following UNT football more closely.
  12. Bummer. It makes me feel the same way as I think our football program should; I should try harder.
  13. This is a promise: If we ever get in a "BCS" conference, or whatever it would be called at that time, I'll be there, finished with tailgating, and in the gate in time for that early kickoff.
  14. It's just difficult for me to get organized for tailgating for anything earlier than a 5:00 p.m. start. I'm sure that parents have a lot on their plate during this time of year. However, when people are hopeful, and/or find the opponent interesting, they'll show up.
  15. One pleasant childhood memory was beating up the school bully when he was walking past our house and kicked our dog when she ran up to him wanting to be petted (this was before leash laws; yes, I know I'm dating myself). It took 3 grownups to pull us apart. Things like that can really get one's adrenaline going.
  16. I agree; those skinny women can bruise you up.
  17. So, Shaft, are you the anti Jim Jones? Faced with the kool aid or those against it, I guess I'm thinking, drink up!
  18. Interesting wikipedia article about the materials used for the field: Malone Stadium, per Wikipedia
  19. A girlfriend can either be fat or little, not both.
  20. Has he shafted?
  21. I think Tre Newton got plenty of touches at SLC.
  22. I think our coaches are finally figuring out who to play at what position, although it may still be a bit ragged looking at times. I'm still concerned about what an option team like Army could do to us because we don't see that many teams running the option. I'm still uncertain what the kickoff coverage will be like. I'm definitely thinking we can put a lot of points on the rest of the teams we play.
  23. No, maybe we're on the waiting list to arrive.
  24. I can see your points, but I also wonder if just the adjustments that were made at halftime didn't account for some of the improvements. So, if Jeremy Phillips was moved to outside linebacker after the half, where was he playing before?
  25. That link does not appear to be exactly right; here's one from the Texas College Coordinating Board itself, and looks more favorable towards us: Texas College Coordinating Board; scroll down for prop 4. So, I say, fellow alumni, if you haven't already, go out and vote today for prop 4.
