  1. It's hard to remember that much about him since that once he missed one game, Dunbar exploded on the scene.
  2. It's not so bad, once you realize that you could die doing it, and that eventually, you'll die no matter what.
  3. Yeah, it was awesome to watch, and the crowd noise when it started got immediate attention. My thought was, whoever this is really has the moves! But, sorry, no video from me.
  4. Uh, yeah, can we just focus on playing well (which we didn't do in any of those losses) and winning. It sucks when you can't stop the run, but it's hard to blame a team that keeps running the ball when that's what they do best.
  5. Army travels well, because they're already here.
  6. Well, Marshall, because of what they said, the match up (I don't know anything about Marshall, just don't like what we experienced against FAU). Our only hope against FAU is a perfect offensive game and an adequate special teams game.
  7. Hey, we've had people like Larry McMurtry, Don Henley, and Ray Wylie Hubbard come through our English program, Mr. Williams should be able to get the instruction he needs here.
  8. Well, there was a time when the fall from grace was greatly feared. Constantine had his entire nation converted years before he took the plunge himself. Maybe a good reason for the old time Baptists' "once saved always saved".
  9. Good news: we seem to have found a punter.
  10. Dallas is a town southeast of Denton.
  11. YES! Let her take the freebies, spend the savings on med school!
  12. Well, let's speed up the process.
  13. Yep, not worth it even if he would be the difference in the UAB game. We could lose that game and still have a winning season. If we put him in that game and he reinjured that foot, I think we can already see what that would mean to already limited depth at that position.
  14. My brother in law lives in Boise, and is a big fan like so many in that, the largest city within many a mile. And really, beautiful country. I took him to a couple of UNT games, and was less interested in the game that we won (barely, against South Alabama), than the game we lost (against SMU last year). Even watching then qb Derek Thompson, he described us, in so many words, as "ok, but not up to Division 1 passing". Last year's game, against SMU at home, at least gave us a glimmer of what a good passing game could be (the Kelvin Smith acrobatic touchdown catch, etc.). I still think SL can get this thing going if he becomes more directly involved in the offense. It's amazing what else people will put up with if your offense can light it up.
  15. First real laugh off this board since forever. Thanks!
  16. This is about UNT becoming a research focused institution; a good thing in my opinion. It's already getting the attention of folks in Dallas who aren't directly connected to UNT, but want us to become first rate. They all knew Lee was not going to get us to the next level and want to see someone who can.
  17. Some people who have thought themselves interested in a military career and experiencing the reality of military training, will find it is not for them before incurring an actual service obligation. I have no problem with it, as I dropped ROTC as a college freshman after realizing it wasn't mandatory. I did get drafted and served out my required active duty, back then when there was a draft, but wouldn't have joined if there was no draft. So few serve in the military nowadays, it's hard for me to feel judgmental about those who don't. He may have just decided he wasn't military minded, and made the right decision for him. Oh, and a big North Texas welcome to you, R.J.
  18. I can see it as a logical venue for the final four, and has a facility record crowd for basketball for a previous one, and for collegefootball bowl games, which seem to sell out. I'm just getting this from Wikipedia, so take it for what it's worth. The only game I attended there was a high school championship game, Judson Converse vs. Euless Trinity (200&?)), and it just seemed like the place was so so empty compared to its capacity that it just felt kind of like a poor fit. Compared to a game I had attended a couple of years earlier, at whatever stadium is in Round Rock, it didn't seem like a good venue for that size of football crowd. I have no idea how many were in attendance then, but I think that even some of the high school football playoff games in this area (Euless Trinity vs. Allen sold out Apogee a couple of years ago in bi district, so that was maybe 30k. Plus, the article mentioned something like a $50 million dollar facilities improvement in 2016, aimed at staying competitive for NCAA events, so it may be better now as far as what they're spending it on. However, especially considering the difficulties of navigating I-35 southbound (fortunately I was on a bus where the driver got information to exit that thing well before encountering whatever accident had shut down the whole thing that Saturday), finding the food selections there to be so poor and overpriced was disappointing. I'll never forget the joy of the stop at Whataburger on the way back. I do remember one nice aspect to the sparse crowd and ample choice of seats being that, when I stood up when getting excited about something, and some old fart asking me if I was going to stand for the whole thing, I just said nothing and moved far away from the dude. And this isn't all just to give me and our fans a big group hug over all this; I can still remember looking out over the crowd at that Trinity vs. Allen playoff game at Apogee, and thinking, "hey this is what a college football crowd should look like", compared to our typically "somewhere under 20k attendance". Maybe y'all are drawing better, but I really doubt you're anywhere close to filling that barn down there. I guess I know now not to count on eating inside the stadium, and maybe that's been improved, or people have enough time to eat elsewhere. So, the whole thing is, you know, what is the complete experience? I'd definitely take Apogee over Ford, and based on my one time experience at the Alamodome, over that as well. But, my viewpoint does not have the Cowboys stadium as being as good as Apogee; perhaps something about being "under the Dome", or "compelled to watch the screen". Bowls for NFL football ok, for college football, not ok.
  19. I would think if he got hired away for a P5 job, we should be able to build on whatever success caused that. If not, we got bigger problems.
  20. All things Blakeley are too cool. If only we'd been in an autobid tournament under grandpa Blakeley, the partay would have gone on a hella long time. This actually kind of broke me out of some weird funk, like the world might get right again.
  21. Sure, but can't that include favoring a good country butt kicking of them by our guys?
  22. Maybe he'll be there to cheer them as they get curb stomped by our guys.
  23. Except for one important part, which is that the night that Ray came up missing was the night that Tune was injured and out for the rest of the season.
  24. The only benefit I can see in this is a chance to inflict consecutive curb stompings on the fighting Falwells and all they represent.
