Well, maybe we can pay for some of those kicking camps, or kicking consultants, deep snapping camps, whatever. Just getting kicks and punts blocked forever and a day won't hack it.

If we're not cash strapped, is there any reason that we couldn't hire a special teams coach (no, not to replace anyone; an additional coaching position just to coach special teams)?

Sorry to ask this, but the sound card on my computer is broken, so I haven't been able to listen to said podcast. Anyway, what with there being no changes mentioned as far as coaching staff, I'm just wondering if anything was mentioned as to doing ANYTHING different. Yeah, I've harped on our kicking team problems, some, but that is just one example of where that I think something needs to be done (moreso than just saying "Yay, Knott will be gone). It seems like if our present staff is capable of improving the kicking game, they would have done so by now; the problems haven't been that big a secret, and have occurred for more than one kicker, not to mention punter, so I'm still not thinking it's ALL on the players here. I'd especially appreciate hearing from any player's parent on this.

If it is necessary at this time next year, the cost will be much less.

Hey, I'm just basing this on what I saw Saturday; if you like shotgun runs on short yardage plays and late game collapses, he showed me he can do that. Sound familiar?

Folks, I watched the Kansas-Missouri game last Saturday; Mangino and his team figured out how to lose the same way we hate for our team to figure out how to lose, including the shotgun run on short yardage, with the same results we had at Troy. I don't think we've tried the 3 consecutive pass plays when time needed to be taken off the clock in the last two minutes and Kansas within their own 10 yard line. I hope nobody here is serious. Did any of y'all watch that thing? Talk about doing the same thing and expecting different results. The only difference I can tell in expected results is that I don't expect Todd Dodge to fall over dead on the sidelines with cardiovascular disease.

I still say that the op was just trying to irritate those of us unhappy about the overall situation with the misleadingly cheerful "Thompson still has a redshirt!". Technically, maybe. This is just in the faintest hope of derailing this thread which I consider useless and pointless, but is there really such a thing in NCAA language as a redshirt? Does anyone have the knowledge to just look it up, tell us whether or not the whole premise of the thread is based on slang terminology and maybe get this drivel locked? What I'm saying is, I don't think anyone ever "has a redshirt". They start out having 5 years to play 4. Derek Thompson now has 4 years to play 3.

None of this will be meaningless if there's an open competition for the quarterback position next spring.

Don't you guys do anything crazy. Look at these ugly events of the past week as leaving no excuse for letting another team hire Johnny Jones away from us after we're in the sweet 16. Yes, I'll go to the next home basketball game that's on a weekend. I'm eating Greek Yogurt every morning. Anything to help.
