Can't people see that sometimes things just don't work out?

Well, I looked at the budgets for the City of Euless, where I now live, and the City of Wichita Falls, where I grew up, and this budget seems exorbitantly high compared to either of those. It was pretty hard to compare however, because of 2 things: The City of Denton operates an electric utility, which is part (about 20%) of that budget, and the $593.8 million includes the capital budget, which for the other two cities appears to be separated. The thing I find hard to figure out about the operating and capital budgets is that operating includes debt service (at least in Denton). Honestly, though, Denton's budget looks high pretty much any way you look at it. The details can make most peoples' eyes glaze over.

Position By Position Breakdowns - Defensive Line
eulessismore replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
"Tevinn Cantly returns after splitting time at defensive tackle and defensive end. I ran into him at U-Haul of all places this summer." I hope he was just there helping someone else move. We need him and any other underclassman who can play DT to stay with the program and make a contribution. I do think we're in good shape there with Shavod Atkinsson and and Kelvin Jackson, but 2011 is just a big question mark for DT. -
So, you thinking of checking out an "Indiana girl on an Indiana night"? I never miss a chance to channel Tom Petty.

It's hard to think that, at this point in his life, the President's main focus is financial security for himself and his family. One thing of which I'm fairly certain is that he loves sports.

Catching Up With Unt's Last Two Players To Commit
eulessismore replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
He certainly should be recruiting Euless Trinity. -
I took EMU, because (1.) they're an FBS team, (2.) they've played very badly in recent years, and (3.) they've played well enough against common opponents (Army and Ball State) that no UNT coach or player should have the illusion that they'll roll over for us. I think their present head coach, Ron English, has done well as a secondary coach and dc/safeties coach at Michigan, but 0-12 for his first year as hc anywhere has got to be tough.

Other than being in the only real college town in the area, legendary for great music and beautiful women, it's hard to think of anything.

Welcome Coach Bryant. I hope that during your time here, that we will play and whip your alma mater, Tulsa, and that you'll give your old coach a clinic in offensive line play.

I'll have to recommend the place in Colorado where my wife and I spent a week around the July 4th weekend, Ouray. Of course, the 4th was a great time to be in Ouray, which they're famous for celebrating in a big way. However, I kind of wish we were there in Late July or early August, when the alpine wildflowers are said to be at their best. I'll provide a link to the Chamber of Commerce site, which is a great starting point for finding about places to stay and activities. Ouray is the self proclaimed jeeping capitol of the world, so there's no reason not to rent a jeep or sign up for a tour to actually get up to some alpine meadows and experience some wildflowers, glaciers, and just enjoy some unspoiled scenery. Also, their town swimming pool is fed by local hot springs, so you can always get a nice soak at the end of the day. Just open the link below and click on "lodging" to start looking for places. We stayed at the Spangler House, which is a B&B, not a "Lodge", but Jill and Steve do a great job running the place, and Steve makes a wonderful full breakfast every morning. Ouray visitors information.

+1, and I've been thinking the same thing. There's something to be said about enthusiasm. Let's remember that Tulsa gave us a pretty good shellacking while Bryant was playing there, and (Leftwich was coaching there). Since it appears that, by serving as a GA under Leftwich, he was taking a career track towards being a college football coach, I'm sure he paid attention and learned something from the man he's replacing.

The MOB spares nobody. What their band does may be a reflection of the frustration that comes with so many losses. Whereas the Green Brigade doesn't do anything special for the opposing teams.

My hopes and prayers go out to you, your family, and all those who knew and loved her Rick. I know what it's like to lose a mother.

Looks Like Jeff Bryant Is The Man
eulessismore replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm glad Troy Phillips is back on the beat. Brett Vito, in my opinion, has done a good job, but I noticed a couple of times this summer when he was really posting things that this forum does well enough, like posting smack talk from the private school to the south. Competition is a good thing. -
Uh, never mind, and I apologize for replying to my own post. I'd like to see us hire Mike Simmonds, leaving Indiana State with our former offensive line coach. I mean, selfish of them to have two OL coaches, and us none.
-
Well, this is interesting. Indiana State, the FCS school which hired Mike Simmonds only ten days ago (mentioned above by myself and "Coaching Tree" as a good candidate for offensive line coach), hired another offensive line coach on the same day, Harold Etheridge, who coached OL for Washington State last year. Maybe Trent Miles, ISU head coach, is hedging his bets against the possibility that one of these two, both employed at the FBS level last year, and with many years of experience at that level, will get "hired away". Interesting thing about Etheridge is that he was OL coach at North Texas from 2004 through 2006. Anyone here know much about him? Here's the link: Five coaches, 2 for OL hired at Indiana State on July 15.
-
Yes, you are a smart guy. I mentioned Simmonds previously in this thread. Uperusa is now at Nicholls State after not retained by the new head coach at UNLV, probably a good situation there with head coach Stubbs. However, he has SERIOUS qualifications, including coaching O-Line at Utah when they went 12-0 and beat Pittsburgh in the first game and victory in a BCS bowl. Also, he had Chico Canales on his staff at Snow College for 8 years or so, and maybe that could sway him to come here.
-
Maybe Chico Canales could talk one of his former coworkers into leaving FCS Indiana State to join him in Denton: Former USF offensive line coach now at Indiana State And he's a hero. Mike Simmonds helped man save drowning son
-
Apparently a position became available at Tulsa: Rumormill: Herb Hand hired from Tulsa by Vandy

What a testament to an individual's progress in going from needing to leave Denton, "working dead end jobs and messing up", to such an honor for such heroism under fire, and to top it off, while on U.S. soil. Makes me kind of proud to be an Army veteran (although doing nothing like this guy) and have ties to Denton. Here's the story: Soldier of the Year 2010, Denton Ryan grad.

U Lala Recruiting/meeting Facility.....a Doublewide
eulessismore replied to Baby Arm!'s topic in Mean Green Football
Sad? Tell that to Henri Fournet. I think I'll always remember his look as the embodiment of pride and joy, like a man looking in his bride's face after saying "I do", or holding his child after it's christening. I'll just go ahead and say it: Cajuns are cool people. -
U Lala Recruiting/meeting Facility.....a Doublewide
eulessismore replied to Baby Arm!'s topic in Mean Green Football
That thread is hilarious, but I don't think anything could top the reality of Jacques and Henri Fournet pictured as they pull the tarp back from the sign showing the honorary naming. Henri looks like a matador holding that tarp, and the reverential look on Jacques' face...what more can anyone add? I know this may be nitpicking, but to correct the title of this thread, this is TWO doublewides, "redesigned" into a recruitment center. Geez. -

Maybe I'll laugh at them after we beat them in football. Something we need to do starting this year.
