One thing that kinda bothered me about the announcement of Lane Rawlins becoming the next apparent UNT President was the comment from (admittedly few) on the board saying that at 73, he was a bit old for the job. Yes, I do support Rawlins for President, especially at this critical time in the way that sports realignments are playing out, but maybe I resent the age issue being mentioned is that, at 63, I'm getting up there myself. But for those who just don't think someone of that age, or even older, can hack it in this dog eat dog world we're in, what about this woman up in Portland, Oregon defending her brand? Do you think you'd want to go into her place wearing anything but her brand? Columbia Sportswear Matriarch robbed in Portland, Oregon

So, is this part of the reason for having a consultant; manage sensitive information?

I think it's typical for the Dallas Morning News beat writers for the various teams to become opinionated, i.e. Kate Hairopoulos (sp?), writing about how "frustrating", "maddening" or whatever the terms were about SMU having another late game collapse recently (hey, something to feel good about?). I have mixed opinions about Vito, where that sometimes he seems objective and analytical, and sometimes he just seems to be stirring the pot. If he wants to stir the pot, maybe he's accomplishing what he set out to do. If what Rob is saying is that the Canales controversy is inflated by the local media, that would fit one theory about selling newspapers. A pretty good movie, maybe 10 or so years ago, "Shipping News", went into how sensationalism sells.

Phil Fulmer, Why Aren't We Considering Him?
eulessismore replied to Got5onIt's topic in Mean Green Football
Honestly, neither of those issues relate to why Fulmer is unemployed (although some here may consider 60 old shelf life), he just seems to want to coach somewhere that has a chance of winning a national championship. As far as the "damaged goods" category, I would just like to see a story of the coach, fired for issues other than losing, out of football for a year or more, coming back at the FBS level and turning around a program that has been struggling for several years. I'm not saying it hasn't happened, I'm just thinking someone here will know whether it happened, and for who. -
Do You Take Points Off Of The Scoreboard?
eulessismore replied to UNTMPA's topic in Mean Green Football
Decline the penalty, hug your kicker, and tell your special teams and defense they've kept you in the hunt all night, and you're confident they can carry you through the next 2 minutes. -
I've been impressed by Riley since I saw him in the game where SLC beat my Euless Trinity Trojans in 2006 on their way to their last state championship. He took a beating from our defense, but kept playing like he'd never been hit. I'm very glad he's taken this opportunity to step up like he has and show us all the winner that he is. I'm betting on him to start next year, although I'm still intrigued by the potential of Derek Thompson. Riley Dodge doesn't back off from a challenge.

I definitely agree that those credentials are far less than those of canales; I guess I was hoping the sarcasm to come through. Still, Cristobal has some players, especially linemen, and has put together what I consider a good team at this point.

I still feel that his stints as offensive line coach at Miami and Rutgers were solid credentials. And, does anyone else here feel that OL coach may be one of the more important "position coach" jobs after what happened with us earlier this year?

I was thinking of using a sarcasm button there, but don't like those "emoticons".

Wow, Anyone Watching Stanford?
eulessismore replied to The Fake Lonnie Finch's topic in Mean Green Football
I must disagree. Taking the knee gives you continued possession, with the option of running out the clock, as mentioned. Also, there's little likelihood of key players getting injured that way, whereas kicking off provides a greater likelihood of such injuries. -
He certainly had solid credentials when FIU hired him.

Phil Fulmer, Why Aren't We Considering Him?
eulessismore replied to Got5onIt's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't think we'll be hiring Phil Fulmer because something he mentioned in his Wikipedia bio: Fulmer can currently be found as a sports analyst on CBS's SEC Postgame Show, as well as various programming on the CBS College Sports Network. Fulmer also believes he will coach again in the future. He is looking to establish himself at a well-established school. "Somebody that's committed to winning championships and being the best that they can be, with a chance to compete in a conference that's nationally recognized. I'm not going to go walk into a door somewhere that you have no chance to be successful."[11] Fulmer was a strong candidate for the University of Louisville head coaching job. He stated in many interviews that he was interested in the job and also has had a phone interview with Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich. However the job was eventually offered to Charlie Strong. Here's the link, in case anyone wants to read the full article: Phil Fulmers Wikipedia bio This is not to say that we shouldn't consider Fulmer, but it might be a waste of time, since he probably wouldn't consider us. On the other hand, it's hard to read that article without thinking how stupid it was of Tennessee to fire him over one 5-7 season. He could fairly assume that wouldn't happen to him here. -
So, the key is ability to delegate? Could someone inform Jerry Jones?

Doesn't mention Canales, but every bio on Canales mentions Rivers as his student: Tiki Barber: Rivers will break Marino's record.

Yes, I think we win, no real guess on the score, but 2 touchdowns or so seems reasonable. Dasher can run, but he can't throw. Key is to contain his outside running.

Do we have to get you one every day? -
Why would he come here and take the meager salary we have to offer a GA? Just so he can use us as a stepping stone to being a position coach at a big school from an AQ program? He seems like a good, spiritually centered man, but could he relate to the socio-economic, ethno-religious diversity and environmental sensitivity of the college age youth coming here from the distressed inner city and privileged suburban programs where we must recruit for our program to thrive?
