  1. I know for a fact that there are many media alumni just salivating to get to cover the Mean Green more, but have been stiffled, due to success of the program. If we win, there will be much more coverage.
  2. I hate that SMU got Jankovich, but I like the guy. He will get his sweet revenge for what Helwig did to him. We will never get a game with SMU with Jank there. So be it. Thanks Hurley and Parker for hiring Helwig.
  3. Yep, the second pro team has come to Dallas.
  4. Was there a press conference to make the announcement?
  5. I wanted to believe it, but had a feeling there was a catch.
  6. The board of regents at the University of North Texas bowed to pressure from sports writers and will change the name back to North Texas State. The name change will be effective August 1, 2013 in time for the coming football season. Also, they agreed to change the nickname from Mean Green to Mean Eagles, as the name mean green has not matched athletic performance for the overall athletic programs. As an unintended dividend from the name change, Lee Jackson's contract as chancellor of the University of North Texas system is now voided due to the name change.

    c-usa

When do we officially start competition in c-usa? First team sport of the fall?
  8. I don't claim to be an expert, but I have had some moments in the middle of the basketball program. That being said, I think a friend of mine's evaluation of this year's men's team said it best. "It was a cartoon character overseeing a fire drill."
  9. Way too logical and labor intensive.
  10. For the history purists, Fed Mart was on university, not Gibson's. Gibson's was where the current sack n save is close to campus. So sad I am old enough to remember this.
  11. Size of market drives the cusa ship right now. Only time will tell if the newbies (us included) can deliver these markets. LaLa just does not have a very big market.
  12. I have painted the North Texas court for the last three times...seems to me it is time for an upgrade for us, too. Sadly, the knees will not let me do a fourth time. Hope we get something really cutting edge for the next one.
  13. My mistake and apologizies...just saw it on the athletic dept. board.
  14. What a sad ending....KNTU did not cover his press conference, nor did the great North Texas athletic department. So sad, but it seems an appropriate ending. Good luck to Tony...hope you have the last laugh.
  15. Texas Tech took Jerry Moore, who completely dismantled all the work Hayden Fry had done at North Texas...there is hope.
  16. KRAM--you must have gotten addled by the nightlife in Hot Springs.
  17. All I know is that the future CUSA opponents must be licking their chops when thinking of their games with North Texas.
  18. I've had season tickets for years, but am contemplating not renewing....that is all the administration will understand.
  19. The worst thing for anyone to do if applying for a major job an North Texas is to let them know you are a North Texas alum.
  20. To honor Fred McCain, should the football team wear FNM black stickers on their helmets or a patch on their jerseys? He was, as noted, a longtime influence on NT athletics.
  21. NT wins this one, as they are playing better and it is very difficult to beat a team three times. Plus, neutral courts have a strange way of upsetting the apple cart for the top teams.
  22. Oops..typed too fast. Middle Tennessee will NOT win the tournament...look at history.
  23. Mark my words...Middle Tennessee will win the tournament. Look at history.
  24. When Texas, Arkansas or A&M, etc. used to be in the Cotton Bowl they brought fans who bought lodging, food and gas...when Houston played in one Cotton Bowl the only businesses who made any money from them were the 7-11's.
  25. This might not need to be in the football section, but we lost another long time supporter and North Texas Mean Green supporter a few days ago. Judy Stewart, wife of longtime dean of students, Joe Stewart, has passed away. She was instrumental in the reformation of the alumni association and worked many hours for the betterment of the university...she will be missed.
