  1. Yep, good to be proactive.
  2. Excellent observations from both of you. On top of righting the ship, Wren is still accessible. Some AD's like to keep plenty of distance between themselves and the general public...not Wren. He seems like a very thoughtful and caring guy to me and I hope everyone gives him a chance to shine.
  3. It's a one year deal, and as a season ticket holder, I am not the least bit upset...more power to the athletic department for reaching out to recent grads. Remember, am empty seat has never bought a hot dog or Mean Green t-shirt, etc.
  4. If I were running the show, I'd introduce the starting crowd for today's game. I'd have every organization let the department know that they were going to be there and give them a shout out during the first quarter. 'And now ladies and gentlemen, introducing the starting crowd for today's game....Talons, Green Brigade, Lambda Chi Alpha, West Dorm, Eagle Club, etc. Everyone wants some recognition. You could do it on the electronic board, but over PA would be great. When each group heard their group mention, they would stand and cheer. We did it for a basketball promotion way back when. Of course, if you say you are going to be there, don't embarrass your organization by not being in your seats.
  5. When I saw the new band in their uniforms in the late 80's I thought it was the visiting band. There was some green, but a lot of red.
  6. Far better than the red ones used in the late 80's....even had red drums, as I recall.
  7. Never liked the Eagle through the circle thing either.
  8. New meaning to give and go.
  9. The old timers used to tell me about the intense rivalry between North Texas State College and East Texas State College. It included raids on the campuses with pranks and even destruction of property. That sounds pretty heated to me.
  10. No response from the alumni association? Hard to believe...check your mail in February.
  11. Got me to thinking. What is your guess that our RPI will be going into the 2017-18 season? Low RPI really makes it difficult to schedule higher profile teams.
  12. Wishing good health and greatness in the future for Zach. Hope he returns to the game as long as it is not threatening to his health.
  13. Apparently, after looking at the picture of David Bailiff, I am now the head coach of the Charlotte 49ers. Maybe my long lost brother.
  14. It still pains me to see the sparse crowds at Apogee...the team deserves better.
  15. And we don't even want to talk about the Arkansas vs. North Texas game in 1968 when we were robbed of that win.
  16. Humbled by the vote...hope the majority find it inspiring to see the flag flying at Apogee. Russian intervention seems slight.
  17. Mason will be Fine for 2017.
  18. Always helped me when I was at the athletic department...a good guy, creative and smart.
  19. The Alamodome looked dirty to me when I was there last year, plus old.
  20. Firefightin Rick can elaborate more, but I think that the Aggies took the flag situation to the state attorney general. They were hoping that the attorney general would rule against its use by North Texas. It was given the OK as my memory serves me.
  21. Now that the money is starting to be right, and the new indoor practice facility in the works, our fears for a replacement for Seth seem to be less daunting.
  22. I am told that the flag was created keeping in mind to use the same graphic layout as the State of Texas flag, since the State of Texas flag is so recognizable. The State of Texas flag is known by most all Texans and across the land. As to the colors, it was stated to me that the dark green represents all the greens used over the years and the yellow-green represents the Hayden Fry years. The use of the two colors was intended to unify all the years of athletic competition at North Texas.
  23. Agree with you about Rust, although he ran out of steam in the end of his tenure.
  24. Gales' nephew, John, might have a kid to throw into the mix.
