I remember (1986 or so) how furious Tommy Newman was when he found out that KNTU was covering the good women's team, but not his.

...and little credit given to the Eagle Patrol...yes, the Eagle Patrol from the Blakeley era who wore green hard hats and raised hell at home and at some away games. They were thrown out of McFarland after they rolled out a big banner saying 'SMU Sucks.'

Would have been nice if he had sat in the cheap seats and worked the crowd.

The 'Flying Worm' has been used off and on for decades, and yet Rick Spears (the creator) is not in the athletic hall of fame ......pitiful.

If you come from out of town and are a visitor, I challenge you to find the ticket booth on the west side of the coluseum. Pitch black with one pissant window open with about a 50 watt light bulb pouring out faint light. It is hard to see and someone is going to get hurt in the darkness one of these days.

And sadly, Monday's coaches show will have 10 people and the upcoming games this week will have the same weak attendance. You better go with what's hot, North Texas....and that ain't football.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the stadium.

There is no activity that will ever fill up the Coliseum. The only one thus far was a sellout crowd for the NT vs. SMU basketball game in the late 70's.

THERE SHOULD BE A LOT OF PRESSURE ON THE AD AND HIS ADMINISTRATION TO GET A DECENT CROWD FOR THIS TEAM...THEY DESERVE BETTER THAN A THOUSAND FANS PER GAME. ATTENDANCE CAN BE JUMPSTARTED, BUT THEY NEED TO WORK AT IT TO GET THERE...I KNOW, I'VE DONE IT.

Just for the record, we are a big program. We went dancing when a hell of a lot of 'big programs' were eating popcorn in their living rooms watching us beat Purdue.

My mind wanders back to 1969...we played Drake in the old pit and Drake was nationally ranked. I got there early and the place was already filling up. What I remember most is the fact that when Drake came out for warm up shots, etc. the entire crowd stood up and booed them mercilessly. We beat Drake that night. Of course, the night would also feature ice being thrown on the floor after a bad call by the referees.

Oh come on, McCasland is doing a good job without selling his soul.
