  1. Congratulations to NT alum Danny Kaspar, who coaches the Lumberjacks.
  2. I'm surprised that it was not sponsored by grey poupon mustard or some champagne company. State Farm seems a bit 'earthy' for those two to use as a sponsor.
  3. Believe me, Horrell is a non-player....not worth any more ink.
  4. I mentioned prior to the game that it would be a five on eight affair....the refs did not let me down. Playing at Texas if you are not one of the 'anointed' teams is a one way street.
  5. I am not saying we go undefeated the rest of the year....I am saying that we now match up physically with all our remaining opponents. No semi-pro teams left on the schedule. We are now in a position to match up with anyone.
  6. Franc n'dick are old buddies....they used to visit on the phone once a week when Franc was at TCU.
  7. While I realize that it is difficult to win night after night, is it possible that the Texas game could be the last loss for the rest of the regular season? There is no opponent left on the schedule that will overwhelm us with talent. There will be pitfalls, but we could conceivably win the remainder of the games.
  8. Black uniforms return to the Metroplex....
  9. Coach Jankovich should have said, " I'm stuck here with Craig Helwig and must get out."
  10. It takes two teams to schedule a series. Our little friends southeast and southwest of us have no interest in a longtime series with us. UTA is probably most willing, and one out of three ain't bad. The series forementioned has been dreamed of for years and years and years and years.
  11. For those of you in Denton, you might give Double Dave's pizza a call. They carried the Arkansas State football game recently. They are located next to Blockbusters on University Drive in Denton.
  12. The Dallas Mavericks could not beat UT in Austin with their own 'peculiar' brand of officiating.
  13. Search committee coaches aren't always the best. The search committee gave us Dennis Parker and Tina Slinker, Jerry Moore and Rod Rust. Direct hires were Hayden Fry, Matt Simon, Vic Trilli, Bob Tyler. Can't remember about Corky Nelson or Darrel Dickey. Search committee also gave us Jimmy Gales. It is a mixed bag.
  14. I don't care if we win by one or one hundred, Dodge football is so much better to watch than the previous regime. Plus, I feel better about the character of the team under Todd.
  15. I was at Voertman's yesterday and they have an incredible amount of North Texas gear. I think it is the best selection they have had in recent memory.
  16. One point five million divided by 60,000 home attendance per year makes for some bad math at SMU. He will be paid about $25 for each fan at the game. While their tickets are about $18 each, they will be losing about $7 per fan for the season.
  17. Illinois State is currently having an online auction of their football jerseys. It might be interesting to contact them to see how it is going.
  18. I have been to many of the games at UTA and we lost most with all sorts of teams from good to average. Until they have a legitimate basketball court we should not schedule them. Or, let our players acclimate to the bizaar stage by practicing there for a week or so. UTA always has an advantage due to their knowledge of the pitiful facility. It is the only place I know of that can host a broadway production and a basketball game at the same time.
  19. Western Kentucky? How many years can they cruise on their past accomplishments? Didn't we beat these guys twice last year? Did they even make the finals of the Sun Belt Tournament?
  20. There was a guy named Hayden Fry who took a pay cut and came to NT from SMU. He did pretty well.
  21. Walter 'Weasel' Johnson dropped off the end of the earth into the pit in the late 70's. Luckily, he was not hurt.
  22. Pray for no injuries. When you play at a place where you can drop off five feet into a pit or slam into brick walls at each end of the court, there is always the chance of injury.
  23. OK, tonight was a huge win, but was it the biggest? What about the '88 win over Northeast La. to send us to the Big Dance for the first time? What about the win over Ark. St. last year that sent us to the Big Dance? Or was it the win over Texas in '80 or was it the win over Arizona State in the late 70's? Talk among yourselves.
  24. Hey Greenbat, I love you man, but just think of it this way. The UNT basketball budget vs. the OSU budget and it puts this win in perspective real quick.
  25. I agree with KRAM1...the squads are doing a great job....thanks for ALL the participation you have shown so far this season. It is my understanding that they will be going to the national championships again this year. My best to them in all their efforts. They came to both Exes mixers and did not just stand around, they mixed with the people. Good luck the rest of the year.
