  1. I would have liked for them to mention that we were in the Missouri Valley Conference in the decade of the 60's, which was one of the strongest conferences in America.
  2. I am I the only one who is amazed at how there has been no discussion recently about the new women's basketball coach either on this board or in the paper. It just shows you how low the interest in women's basketball has sunk at UNT. Usually there is speculation on names, etc., but not on this hire.
  3. the greatest show on turf.
  4. The big winner will be the other conference schools. There will soon be a reality check at WKU when they move to 1A football. Then, I'll bet that their piece of the 'Big Dance Pie' will be gobbled up to prop up the football program. In the end, WKU and UNT and others will still have about the same overall budget for intercollegiate athletics. I don't see WKU overpowering the rest of the league in basketball. Now, if they go to the Big Dance consecutively for a couple of more years, they might be the bully on the block.
  5. And they passed up Rick Villareal, I can't believe it.
  6. Slinker is talking personally with each of the 150 fans who follow her program.
  7. Could have a lot to do with home attendance averages. I suspect that the MAC, although not great, has a better home attendance average than the SBC.
  8. NJIT has been added to SMU's out of conference schedule for 2008-09.
  9. Should help our rpi a little.
  10. I am fascinated that no one has mentioned Jim Mudd. He was All-Missouri Valley and I think made an All American team.
  11. The coach who probably did the most with the least to work with. Remember, he had Al Hurley as President. Corky was a complicated, but good man. I enjoyed working with him. I had heard some time ago that he was in poor health. I think that he lives in Seguin. He coached at Mary Hardin Baylor after leaving NT. He worked here with lots of restrictions by the administration.
  12. I haven't checked recently, but at one time McNeese had the highest per game attendance of all IAA football.
  13. It is my understanding that Mandy and Hank will now concentrate on fund raising. Mandy's job will be taken by someone else.
  14. Villareal says he wakes up every day thinking about how to make the stadium happen...he has about 15 potential big donors that he has not solidified....he hopes to have some committments so he can go public in the near future. He did say that he is bringing back the quarterly Mean Green Club meetings.
  15. Would you believe 250-275 people?
  16. Why would there be a jersey for a guy who has yet to take a college snap? Jerseys are sold on reputation and Riley's story has yet to be written.
  17. In other words, DON'T TAKE A SIT AT THE PIT...
  18. Congratulations to Darrell and the boys at USU for sliding in at 118.
  19. Purple haze, green smoke and mirrors.
  20. "Dewey beat Truman" 1948.
  21. He wasn't bumped, he was pile driven with not even a foul called.
  22. Morgan at 12:30 and Villareal at 1.
  23. Just think what the attendance would have been if it wasn't student spirit week on ESPN. This was a poor choice for ESPN to televise....ULM is way out of the hunt and I doubt that the game was scheduled for TV that far in advance.
  24. One irony of the game was the appearance of orange pumpkin heads.....we worked for years to get orange out of the SuperPit and now it has reared its ugly head again....I know that is the color of basketballs, but I had a real bad orange flash back when I saw them.
  25. Acccording to sports info office at unt, the games are on ESPN Fullcourt and can only be seen by people with Direct TV or Dish network. No local affiliate will be carrying the games.
