Thanks to all 'reporters' for their comments. I found the reports rather telling on today's society. One reporter says the sky is blue while another reporter says no, it's black.

I know that there has been stadium talk ad nosium, but isn't it a crying shame that the 'leaders' at North Texas cannot get a damn football stadium considering the money that they are making. Why is it that North Texas attracts such sub par leaders?

If we dip into the FCS inventory of teams there should be only one criteria...will any of these teams bring a crowd of their own fans? SFA has proven in the past that they have a base following their team. Anyone else in Texas at the FCS level would be a gamble. When we were 1-AA we took a lot of grief for scheduling Abilene Christian, but they did bring some folks to Fouts. There was really little difference in Oklahoma scheduling us and us scheduling ASU. Each athletic director knew that the 'smaller' team would bring fans to the game and the chances were good for beating the lower division team.

This situation brings back memories. I wanted to schedule a double header at the Super Pit with Denton High vs. some other high school and then the regular North Texas men's game. I had my wrists slapped for trying to do it since the NCAA considered it recruiting. I asked how young a kid could play at the Super Pit before the regular game and not be penalized by the NCAA...I think the answer was grade school. Unbelievable.

Any program that is doing well should be saluted...we have precious few of them on a consistent basis.

If she performs as advertised, she will be worth the money. It will finally allow North Texas to have three viable areas to actually make some money....men's basketball, women's basketball and football. It always seemed poor business to me to have only two out of three with any potential.

According to TY Sports, the UNT Cheerleaders placed sixth nationally in the D1A division in Florida recently. Louisville was first. Congratulations to Heath Miller and the squad. For the record, the cheer squad has won three national championships since '94 and won back to back championships in the early 2000's.

Unless you interviewed the four candidates, how can you make an intelligent comment on the new hire? As to Capps, while I do not deminish her accomplishments at UTA, it was the Southland. I think that most would agree that the Belt is a bit better than the Southland. Even put the UTA men's team up against five or six Belt opponents and I imagine the Belt would dominate. Just my opinion....but I think that is what this board is all about...opinions.

As an historical note, neither Tina Slinker nor Dennis Parker was the choice of the search committee. The 'powers that be' saw fit to ignore the committee's choices back then.

You are all correct. In fact, why not just do a headline that says 'you could do worse.' To further carry on the point of y'all's comments, consider this. In the 'North Texan' there is a section touting the university's students in all parts of the world doing various things. Do you see any of these students with one thing about North Texas on their body? Not one t-shirt, cap or sweatshirt with North Texas on it. If these had been aggies or horns, I bet you a dollar they would be wearing gear from their university...not North Texas...we are just too cool or have so little pride that the students would not be caught dead in North Texas gear.

The best job in the Belt is women's basketball coach at UNT...you can stay for 19 years without doing a whole hell of a lot.
