  1. Most big time programs sell tickets to their students on top of a student athletic fee. It is a bit easier to do if you have Texas and Oklahoma as home games, as opposed to Florida International and Louisiana Lafayette, etc.
  2. If Dodge is the phenom that we think we hired, we will slip up on some people this season. One of our biggest problems in the past was total non competitiveness in OOC games. We ran Dickey off to correct this situation...now is the time for Dodge to strut his stuff.
  3. Abner Haynes--the face of integrated football at NT and a pro and hall of famer. Joe Greene--biggest splash in the pros fro NT Tony Worrell--the face of our first trip to the big dance Don January--national championships in the fledgling NCAA golf tournament and pro extraordinare
  4. One of my favorite memories was when Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity painted the stadium green. We worked on the stadium and listened to the North Texas vs. Tennessee game over the loud speakers in the stadium. When the team arrived back in Denton after upsetting the Vols, some of the players thought we had painted the stadium to commemorate their victory over Tennessee.
  5. If you tailgate in Manhattan, keep an eye out for Mandy...she'll be the one in purple.
  6. Never trust a source that doesn't even have the correct logo for the Mean Green.
  7. Old over the hill loud mouthed coaches are allowed to become dilusional once in awhile. Obviously, he is not the sharpest pencil in the box to make such comments before visiting Austin.
  8. Nice find. Ann Sheridan was one of three actresses to come out of Denton in that era. Nancy Gates lived just north of the TWU ( then called College of Industrial Arts ) campus on north Locust Street. While my Mother was a student at CIA ( now TWU), she was Nancy Gates babysitter. Joan Blondell was also in Denton during the same time period.
  9. If I were coming from out of town, I would call the North Texas campus police dept. and get the specifics. To reach them call the main university number at 940-565-2000 and asked to be transferred to the police parking department. That way you can hear it directly from the 'horse's mouth.' Have a fun trip down and a silent trip back.
  10. There is no doubt that the Exes have had their moments of incompetence, but they are really trying hard to do the right thing now. Please email any suggestions to dmorgan@unt.edu...I know he would like to hear good ideas from y'all. A lot of the good ideas come from the outside in, not from the inside out. The SuperPit watching party is a good idea, for instance.
  11. As per meangreensports.com/football tickets, they are $100 or $70 depending on seat location. Check it out.
  12. At the very least, it seems to me that Todd should outline his practice policies publicly and the reasons for his having closed, semi-closed, and open practices....then there should be a printed outline of what practice falls in what catagory. I personally don't care about the whole thing as long as we win, but I also can see y'alls frustration.
  13. It would be fun to try to copy Central Florida's idea if for no other reason that to see the look on ole Gretchen's face when it went public.
  14. If approval of a service fee for athletics has to go to Austin, there are four members of the House of Representatives who have North Texas degrees and one senator.
  15. The new bank should be a good supporter of North Texas athletics...the president is Randy Robinson, who helped a lot when he was president of Texas Bank. Also, Virgil Strange, husband of the chair of the board of regents, is on the board of the new bank.
  16. KRAM1 and I agree on many things, but this is not one of them.
  17. I saw the jersey today at Voertman's. Definitely for kids. No replica jerseys for sale in adult sizes.
  18. I'm going to Voertman's on Wednesday...will check it out and give you a report.
  19. Here's a tip for you youngsters out there...if you run for Congress, just pledge to introduce no new legislation and that you will only stay for two terms. You should win in a landslide.
  20. Before you have a heart attack over this thing, just remember one name---Bill Miller, circa 1990. Now, do your homework and you will see why I am not quite as panicked by a student vote on a worthwhile project.
  21. Does anyone buy the 'party line' that the Record Chronicle will ever get any better? I do not. I do, however, think that the Mean Green will get better.
  22. The only announcement at the cookout will be that it is 101 degrees and the event should have been in the air conditioned coliseum.
  23. As you zip down the street or expressway, the only thing you will notice is Pigskin and Pigs. The rest of it, including SMU Football is very hard to read while driving.
  24. I just think that there are so many players from the distant past that could have been included. Of course, these current inductees deserve to be in, but in good time. Chris Davis ahead of Weasel Johnson, for instance, does not make sense to me.
  25. No player should be in the Hall of Fame before they have been out of school for at least ten years. Apparently the committee has changed the long standing qualification of ten years.
