  1. We played Lamar there in the late 80's...it was loads of fun....very noisy place to see a game....enjoy.
  2. Next time, send any questions for the university with an R.S.V.P. at the bottom of the missive....they understand R.S.V.P., but not always common courtesy.
  3. It seems to me that the university, both through athletics and through its media relations department, has pretty much set it self up for a terrific fall if they do not build a new stadium. The stadium issue is a bit silly, as I doubt that the university ever asks the question, 'can we afford to build a new dorm or music practice facility or business building, etc.?' If you are a valid functioning univesity you find ways to fund your needs. Now the general public knows we are trying to build a new stadium and failure to do so will really reflect badly on the university.
  4. If we keep losing, you won't be able to find many in Texas who have ever heard of North Texas.
  5. In my opinion this is the most important game in the Dodge era....we should match up talent-wise with Rice and we now need to see a victory. NT by three.

    Fouts

Not sure, but here is a story for you about Fouts lights. In the mid eighties we had a night game scheduled with NE La ( I think), and at the previous home game ( night game ) there were big time problems with the lights. Anyway, we made it tjrpugh that game OK, but discovered that the lights were shot. We asked for funding from the administration to fix the lights so as to finish out the season with NE La at home at night. THEY REFUSED to pay for the repairs for the lights and made us move the game at the last minute to an afternoon game. Let's all thank the powers that be that we are beyond the Hurley administration and that we sorta survived it.
  7. I am impressed with the young lady's comments. I hope we live to see the day when all entities of the North Texas community are proud of all the other entities. I have always been proud of the College of Music...hope we can give them reasons to be proud of the athletic endeavors of the university.
  8. I cannot emphasize enough how much you will cherish what you are doing when you and the students are out in the world. You will have the satisfaction of knowing that you did something that counted while at North Texas and you will have fun doing it. Like it or not, the success of the athletic programs have a big impact on public perception of the university and you will see it reflected when you enter the workforce post grad.
  9. You must get the seventy four for one special that has the DMN early edition and the RC and all the little piss ant local papers for a subscription price of $11 a month ( which is excessive for content ). Seriously, you must have seen the early edition that you can get a the grocery stores on Saturday night.
  10. I try not to be ludicrous. I try to be positive. Playing SMU, Baylor, OK State , etc. would not be a step up?
  11. A fairly objective report from the Daily. In my opinion the one main thing that a new stadium will bring to the school is the opportunity to play higher profile teams in Denton. Many of our 'body bag' games might just be played here. That, with improved recruiting, should enable us to turn 'body bag' games into possible thrillers. Attendance should improve markedly if we play some 'name schools' in Denton.
  12. Robots seldom cause trouble.
  13. Man, I'm already foaming at the mouth in anticipation of the non-conference games in Denton. No wonder they don't tell you the schedule before you buy the season tickets.
  14. Don't forget...there is no such thing as I-AA anymore. As to scheduling division II teams, we do not need to dip that low. A strong FCS team who bring fans might be OK.
  15. Why would you do a promotional video about the stadium without any way to contribute to the project....no phone number, no email or any other way to find out how to donate.
  16. How about the women's coach at Baylor for v.p.?
  17. The main thing that a new stadium would do for us is to schedule the 'body bag' games here in Denton. It is so tough to win on the road against the caliber of competition that we schedule. Schedule KState here and see what the score would be ....certainly not the score from last night.
  18. Which begs the question how can a door be ajar? Along these lines of English screw ups is the word impressed. To say that you were impressed by someone merely means that they made an impression on you, whether good or bad. Also, you never graduate from college--you were graduated from college ( the college or university does the graduating, not you).
  19. The team will probably fly into Manhattan on Friday. I know that you used to be able to charter a plane and land in Manhattan. Unless there have been major changes, that is my guess. Bussing to Manhattan could be a tragedy. When we lost to them to end their drought in the early 90's we bussed in.
  20. Not condoning it. Not saying it did not happen. However, Reuters and the New York Times are not news outlets I trust.
  21. The K-State coach should be commended for doing his homework and for giving credit where credit is due.
  22. Did Whit Babcock do his internship at North Texas? Great rapport with the donor base.
  23. Has the athletic department completely lost their minds? Why in the hell would they put the SMUT crap on anything North Texas? Unbelievable.
  24. Makes you proud to be an American.
  25. I doubt that you would get towed. However, you might call the campus police and let them know what you are doing. Just call 940-565-2000 and ask for the campus pollice dept.
