  1. The Daily and the radio station working together would violate the NT standard operating procedure of never cooperating with any other entity of the university if at all possible.
  2. And, of course, there is always a 3% chance of final judgement, which makes the conference shake up mute.
  3. Will we put in the old 'power outage in the opponent's dressing room' play like we did for Baylor? Fouts could easily obllige with freaky stuff for the visitors.
  4. In 1950 or so, it was Oklahoma A&M versus TCU in Stillwater. I was about four at the time...still remember being impressed with the uniform colors.
  5. Well put, Rick. Also, consider our football budget against theirs and you will soon appreciate all the effort of the squad. By the way, our boy Dickey got burned 72-0 today Oregon.
  6. In the ten years that I traveled with the team Hurley never traveled with us. He went to a few, but never with the team. Usually, he sent a 'university representative' to the games. One of the worst three hours of my life were spent in the Nebraska press box with a university v.p. who was a Nebraska grad.
  7. I have friends in SA who were wondering if there is a place for NT fans to watch the game.
  8. Here is how to accurately come up with the SMU stadium capacity. Take one of SMU's recent 'sold out' games and take the number of tickets sold to the visiting team and then add the 400 that SMU fans bought and you have the correct number of seats at Ford Stadium.
  9. Probably Riley Dodge in a bizaar move by the coaching staff.
  10. For decades people have mispronounced the mascot for Nebraska. It's not Cornhusker, it's Cornhuckster.
  11. Why not send a pm to ParksandRecRick.
  12. Plus, the extra excitement of a train or two rumbling by during the game.
  13. From looking at the national tv schedule, it lists our game vs. Clemson at 2:30pm, eastern time. It will be on ESPNU. Hope that helps.
  14. Silver Eagle is correct..it is the culture. Much of that culture was caused by university presidents who had no real idea or vision of where they wanted NT to go athletically. Essentially, they treated athletics as a somewhat necessary evil. This went on for decades. Now, since the beginning of this decade, we are finally getting athletics taken more seriously by senior administration. The fan base in the past never really got behind the teams, as there was no real vision presented to them for the maximization of NT's potential. Yes, I am talking about Hurley, Matthews, etc. Nolen was the exception and his vision brought us Blakeley and Fry.
  15. Troy is my adopted player for the season, so I am thrilled that he gets his chance.
  16. As my grandfather used to say, 'If you said you'd do it, do it. If you don't plan on doing it, keep your mouth shut.'
  17. "Another one bites the dust." Take the meaning anyway you like.
  18. Texas athletic administrators are also number one in the nation in 'looking the other way' in terms of their athlete's lives and/ or discretions.
  19. Thanks God...I thought it would turn out to be Matt Simon.
  20. How about the Texas loss in '88 and the Arkansas loss in '68? Screwed both times by SWC refs.
  21. The Pan Am series was especially disappointing since I was told that if we beat them in Denton (which we didn't) we would get an NIT invitation.
  22. Nice trip down memory lane...I had forgotten that we had a really good schedule in 76-77. In the early Blakeley era we were actually nationally ranked for a couple of weeks until we got beat on the road by Memphis State. Memphis had a live tiger that they would put at the opponent's basket for intimidation...our players did not like that at all.
  23. So sorry to hear of her passing. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Jim
  24. Tap the breaks...maybe Chico and Leftwich just could not see eye to eye and the Tulsa thing jumped up. Just a thought.
