Interesting story about how the front page coverage happened. One of my fraternity brothers did all the print media buying for Sanger Harris. He called the powers that be at the Times Herald and 'suggeted' that the win make the front page. Since Sanger Harris was one of the biggest accounts that the Times Herald had, the rest is history. See, alumni can influence the media if they have a big enough stick.

Oddly enough, the day that the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity painted Fouts for the first time was during the Tennessee game. We listened to the game over the radio piped in through the pa system at Fouts. The place went absolutely bananas when the game ended. I thought Mercer was going to have a stroke during the end of the game and the post game wrap up. When the team arrived back in Denton they thought the stadium had been painted to commemorate the Tennessee victory. I remember the terror in my heart as I let loose 50 guys with paint to paint the stadium. Luckily, all went well and the rest is Mean Green history.

Anyone who thinks Denton is pro active enough to invite the MWC commissioner to Denton for a look-see, please raise your hand.

I don't think that McCarney came to Denton to coach in the Sun Belt forever. I think that there were added incentives relative to conference that we are not privy to at this point.

I have advocated for years that once an athlete signs with a professional team the pro team gives an automatic recruiting bonus to the school from where the player played. That would really help athletic budgets since the universities or colleges are basically providing a farm system for the pros.

I recently re-upped for $500...will be checking my mailbox daily for the letter from the athletic director.

Since NT is ranked in the top 10 of the mid major basketball poll, I am wondering why the athletic department is ignoring the ranking? I have not heard or read any reference to the poll from NT officials. It's like they are embarrassed to be a part of the phrase 'mid major.' Any thoughts?

Given the TCU administration's aversion to the old non-air conditioned Fouts, I bet they would really hate a trip to Austin where they put you in the sun for an afternoon game in September and the Horns players sit comfortably on the sideline in water cooled circulating body suits. Of course, no consideration to the visiting team to furnish them with the water cooled suits. Great hospitality by the Horns.

In my humble opinion the new uniforms should incorporate kelly green, hunter green and lime green. These uniforms would celebrate all the colors worn by our football teams over the years.
