You put these 'goliaths' on a neutral court with neutral refs and all of sudden you see the real depth of talent of college basketball in the United States. "You little guys come to my town, play in my gym, use my refs and go home with your tail whipped'--that is the attitude of the 'goliaths' of the world. Complicet in this rigged affair is television, too. Go VCU and Butler. Yeah, I'm bitter.

So good to see VCU and Butler putting it in the faces of the 'big boys.' The ongoing humiliation being delt out by VCU and Butler is for all the four for ones or home only games dictated by the 'big boys.' It's also for the screwed up television coverage for the year and the 'big boys' continuing efforts to make it a 'members only club' subset of the NCAA. Hope VCU or Butler win the whole thing.

Enjoyed the game...it was well organized...congrats to all for a good afternoon of 'Mean Greening'...thanks, Kram1 et al.

I initiated the painting of the greek/organizations sections at Fouts. Glad you liked it. It was featured in Sports Illustrated back then.

Buy season tickets to NT basketball, give to the Mean Green Club and quit worrying about what the other fellow is doing. TCU and basketball are an oxymoron and will be for the forseeable future. SMU will make a ripple, but no splash and UTA cannot be much of a factor as long as they are in the Soutland. At least UTA will schedule us.

Glad we followed through on this guy.

Couldn't happen to a nicer school.

Great idea...let's wipe out any chance for a bunch of kids to get a college education. If athletic scholarships go then let's get rid of music scholarships, merit scholarships and the whole concept. When a professional idiot Nader is.

62% Want Obamacare Repealed
drex replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Laugh all you want, but when the dust settles the United States has lost its healthcare system to the socialists. Like going to the lobby of the post office for help? These are the same people who want to be in charge of your healthcare needs. Seems like a great pie in the sky system until you or a loved one needs some real medical attention. Fewer breakthroughs in medical research and a smaller pool of doctors will be the eventual outcome. -
Blakeley was NOT replaced by a TWU coach. He was replaced by Tommy Newman, who was the head coach at TWC (Texas Wesleyan College in Fort Worth). TWC did, in fact, beat Blakeley the year prior to Newman coming to Denton. Newman's teams were so boring to watch that attendance plummeted and then Gales was hired. He took the team to our first NCAA tournament appearance with some of Newman's recruits.

The Trojans have shot their way into oblivion, having lost the play in game to North Carolina-Ashville. Another crouch shot for the Sun Belt.

Helwig's son did suit up for NT...he played very little. Jank was forced out for Trilli. Scholarships were jerked and scheduled games were dropped at the last minute. Don't believe me? Give UTA a call and see what they think of Trill and Helwig.

Would You Be In Favor Of Replacing Denver With Oral Roberts ?
drex replied to NT03's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Missouri State has been approached in the past, but are holding firm to play FCS football. Football is not a big thing in Springfield. In fact, Missouri is really not a very hot state for football. If you look at Mizzou roster you will find a lot of Illinois and Texas guys. Missouri State football attendance is poor...we played them back in the 90's. -
This self imposed probation very well could derail the Pony Express' drive to a national championship in 2014. Also, it could really impact attendance. The numbers could plummet from the 500 person fan base to a mere dozen. Anyway, it's SMU, so who cares.
-
I guess the saddest thing about all this is that the Sun Belt will be represented on national television by a team wearing uniforms that even an intramural team would be embarrassed to wear.

Traditions, History And Accomplishments.
drex replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Well said, Rick. However, the press is lazy and has to be spoon fed. This athletic administration, like so many before it, only recognize accomplishments made while on their watch. Remember, all athletic administration at NT are either vandals or interlopers with very little green blood in them. The vexing thing is that participation by the alums who know or care is thwarted by most athletic administrations--senior administration as well. -
I am confident that the athletic department will take care of long time donors and season ticket holders ahead of the 'johnny come lately' 'fans'.

Think Denton Article
drex replied to UNTflyer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Every time I 'think Denton', I think of Denton politics and I get a headache. -
The team is struggling, but the uniforms are top notch. No need to monkey with them.
-
Yes....I'll get back to you later with details.

The Dallas Cowboys have played high school ball in the past, too.

After this year's recruiting, never rule Johnny out.

JJ has given much more to this school than the students, administration and fans have given to him. Cut him some slack. Besides, it is obvious that he is a victim of the Dodge injury curse.
-
No need to worry about JJ going anywhere else to coach.
