Anyone know when the football season tickets will ship?

Anyone know what happened to the Denton High player who played on the O line for LSU? Did he graduate?

With a team of the caliber that we have coming up this season, the real question is will they play in front of 1,500 people early in the year and get down early over attendance? Even though we have a good product, it needs nurturing by the fan base. Also, don't look for any help from the Sun Belt referees this year, since we are leaving. If they make top 25 it will be a magnificent achievement.

Who scores the 1st Touchdown this year and how ?

Oddly, McCarney sneaks into the game and scores on a tackle eligible trick play. -
I was there....as sponsor of the cheerleaders, I quickly huddled up the cheerleaders seconds after the td play and hustled them out the north gate to the van. I did not want to chance some sort of confrontation...little did I realize that not one wildcat fan would leave the stadium turf for over thirty minutes...the parking lot was completely empty when we hauled out of Manhattan. Earlier in the game I witnessed one of Byron Gross' greatest plays ever. He shot over the line of scrimmage and jammed the quarterback into the the trailing running back and knocked both players down for a loss. It was incredible. We had played in Manhattan a couple of years earlier and one of the k-state students jumped down on the track and blind sided the Eagle mascot with a clip, which blew out the mascot's knee. That is why I was jumpy about getting out of dodge that afternoon asap.

I have never seen an empty seat scream for the home team, buy a hot dog or a coke or a t-shirt.

Former UNT trainer to join trade group’s Hall of Fame
drex replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Great honor for a good, hard working man. George was also interim athletic director for a few weeks before the great Craig Helwig showed up to do his damage to the program. -
Apparently, the Bleacher Report is an offshoot of the North Texas Daily.

I can tell you from experience that head coaches seldom mess with polls..their underlings are told to fill out the form.

Football wins can help college's academic reputation

While it is totally irrational, it is the world we live in. -
Folks take professional football seriously in Texas.

Point of information....the men's basketball team under Blakeley was nationally ranked for a few weeks.

Too bad the hoopniks writer has no clue what our nickname is...every other college he mentions has the nickname beside it...at least he did not write 'the Missouri' transfer.

At that time was alumni advisor for the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. As a spirit project the fraternity had volunteered to paint Fouts Field...they painted the walls on the inside plus the steps and the railing. It was the first time it had ever been painted. Anyway, we had the radio on through the stadium speaker system as we painted the stadium (it was the same afternoon as the Tennessee game). We thought Mercer was going to have a heart attack on the radio at the end of the game. When the team got home they thought we had painted the stadium to commemorate the victory vs. the Vols.

Middle Tennessee 2012-2013 Hoops Schedule
drex replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Congratulations to Middle Tennessee for having a full schedule already in place this time of year....we seem to wait until November to post our schedule. -
Almost let the day get away....Happy Birthday, Bill.

Remember the good ole days when we were just Americans?

Just depends who is operating the radar. If some buffoon who does not do due diligence to college basketball is running the radar, then yes, he is under the radar. If someone who keeps up with the total college basketball landscape is running the radar, then he is not under the radar. Most radar operators (sports writers) are too lazy to even turn on the radar, much less watch it correctly.

I've followed the Mean Green since 1966 and the first three Blakeley years might have been the best ever. However, don't forget that it was not uncommon for us to beat nationally ranked teams in the old pit in the late sixties. I know we knocked off Bradley and Drake in Denton...both were nationally ranked at the time. Also, don't forget that the teams from the Missouri Valley in the late sixties were on par with the current ACC teams. It was not uncommon for four teams from the Valley in those days to be nationally ranked. Beating nationally ranked teams has not happened in a long time for us...the last one was Arizona State when Blakeley coached. Now we seldom even have any nationally ranked teams come to Denton, which is a big embarrassment, in my opinion. This upcoming team could be the very best...time will tell. While Tony deserves all the fanfare, don't forget that we had Lee Winfield in late sixties who went on to a long pro career with the Sonics and Joe Hamilton was on the Dallas Chapparal roster in the ABA and Kenneth Lyons was drafted by the Philadelphia Seventy Sixers. Lyons is also a member of the 10k club and he on a very prestigious list.

Great read with the correct logo, too!!!

My best to Scott...I always called him the 'gee whiz' quarterback since nothing seemed to bother him. I really liked his laid back personality, which is what surprises me that he is having heart problems.

When A Broyles Era Razorback Said UT & North Texas Were...
drex replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
I, too, was at the game. Shank made the catch and the refs had to bail out the Razorbacks. Arkansas was nationally ranked at the time..I think 6th. I made a banner that said Soooie...Foooie, Go Mean Green that we put on the railing at the game and I spray painted a number of hog head car antenna emblems green in the parking lot of a Howard Johnson's (probably one of the most stupid things I did in college). The Talons brought the spirit bell to the game. Not one Razorback fan left that game thinking we were a push over. A newspaper account of the game quoted the Razorbacks as saying our defense was as good as the Kansas City Chiefs. It was a great road trip, as there were a lot of NT fans at the game. -
I've got my flag proudly flying today...thanks to all who sacrificed for us.
