A real pleasure to work for. He was really solid and he loved North Texas. What a lot of people don't know is that he had a great sense of humor. He did many thankless jobs for North Texas that the average person does not know about.....plus, he never really seemed to have much of an ego...real team player. We will miss you, Fred.

Postseason success would forgive disappointing season

Benford's departure could be the success story for the end of the season. -
UNT Hiring Telemarketing Firm for Athletic Ticket Sales

Just what we need--strangers who know nothing about North Texas calling us. -
The second half is probably all you can take. Should be interesting to see how we manage to lose this one in the second half.

Fascinating that we paid for the SOW logo, only to have it ripped off by the air force. Or, did the designers rip it off from the air force?

Rice Game vs, UNT on Halloween - National TV!
drex replied to CaliMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Hey, it's Rice. They are used to playing in front of 2,000 people. Attendance should be awesome to them no matter how big the Apogee crowd is. -
Former UNT head coach Harry Miller passes away
drex replied to NT03's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I did a sign for the old pit when Harry and his new team (Wichita State) came to Denton for a conference game. The sign said 'This will be a thriller, despite Harry Miller.' His Wichita players laughed at the sign. -
The only football problem North Texas has is winning. Perception that the institution is a winner brings in rewards from sectors other than just athletics. The most terrifying event in my career at North Texas was being interviewed by the student reporters.

Sadly, we finished out in Manhattan, Kansas.

There is/can be much more to Greek life than chasing a bottle. Thanks to booze, my fraternity is just a memory at North Texas...alcohol abuse destroyed the chapter. The university needs Greek alums, as they turn out to be some of the biggest supporters of the university...hope this does not destroy the university's relationship with the Greeks.

Did I hear coach Mac say that the throw back uniforms will be from the Hayden Fry era?

relevance???

I had always been under the impression that there was a pecking order in conferences relative to drawing talent. Since we moved up the food change by moving to C-USA, I was assuming that we would move up in recruiting, too. Oh well, time will tell.

Wasn't there some sort of problem in Lafayette with the refs? Anyway, I totally 'discussedted'. We have not been good some years, but I always thought we had been classier than this year's mess.

With the exception of Roger Franklin, I think this is the most uninspired team we have fielded in years...I think that Tony, being young, has let the malaise of the team affect him and his performance.

How about two more months?

Lordy, I love an optimist.

Can't hire him, as he is a North Texas grad. All decision making at the university are in the hands of vandals and interlopers.

Very proud of the effort. Now that Benford has a smaller bench, his substitution-a-go-go pattern from earlier has been more limited...that is a good thing.

The ole Plum's memory is bad. We last beat Tulsa in '70 or '71 when Cedric Hardman completely devoured their quarterback...this got Cedric a first round draft choice by San Francisco. I think we also destroyed them in '67 when I was in school.

At North Texas, coaching is all in the family

I never kid about Missouri State.

I don't know about Harry's thoughts, but my vote is for Missouri State. They would need to upgrade in football, but all the other things are in place. They have a nice corner on the market in a metro area of about 200,000.

Thanks for the good words...we are really happy to be free of SBC and into CUSA.

What's Happening From CUSA & Commish' Banowsky?
drex replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Should be an easy sell to alumni and fan bases...just say 'the Big East is falling apart and we did not have any control over its demise.'
