    Why?

Maybe we should all just play inside where, you know, we don’t get wet and cold.
  2. keith

    Why?

Yes. People should quit making excuses why we beat the sh!t out of UTSA that day.
  3. We are just what the doctor ordered. When a team that has been at its lowest, just schedule good ole North Texas. We’ll help you out of that hole.
  4. The Morris experiment should be over on Monday.

    Why?

We both played in the same conditions.

Whether you like it or not, we beat a top, what, 15 team, in Denton and we made more noise beating a hapless Arkansas than we have in forever.
  7. This is an impressive agreement for USF and it's great to see a fellow AAC conference mate raising the bar. I obviously don't know the details about this, but while the "deal" is valued at $25M, I don't think USF is getting $25M in cash to do with what they want. It looks like Tampa General Hospital is funding space to expand its medical services to the community. Sounds like a win-win for all involved and the type of joint projects UNT should pursue with local/regional businesses. ----- "The Tampa General Hospital Center for Athletic Excellence will be located adjacent to the stadium and feature clinical space, where TGH will provide behavioral health services, including assessments, treatment, therapies, career mentoring and more. The clinical space will benefit from research conducted in partnership with USF Health, and the services offered at the new location will be uniquely geared to support the needs of both the USF community and the broader Tampa Bay region."
  8. Yes, Tiffin is in Ohio.
  9. The hits, they just keep coming...☹️
  10. Brett has a man crush on UTSA.
  11. Thanks for the response GrayEagle and I understand your point. My issue was that we have had a tendency over the years of looking to our weaker opponents as a benchmark for ourselves. We win the games we are supposed to win (most of the time anyway) and we get all giddy about how good we are. It's a false sense of security. Then when we play equal or "better" competition, we falter. It's a decades-old pattern. With the "easy" (relatively speaking) part of our schedule up next, we are likely to fall into that same trap. We seemed to have plateaued with the previous staff, so we brought in a new staff to elevate us above and beyond where we were. It was onward and upward. Spirits were high. What we observed last Saturday was not that. For those of us that have been around a long time, it was the same old North Texas song and dance. We regressed. This was not presented to the fanbase as a teardown/rebuild scenario. I don't think we are interested in taking two steps back in order to take three steps forward. Hopefully, this staff and team can rally and utilize the soft part of our schedule to fix the mistakes, get some wins and prepare for the back half which will tell us where we really stand.
  12. It seems like we hold a lot of these type of "records."
  13. We compete individually as institutions, but conferences also compete against each other. You compete by strengthening yourself and other times it may be by weakening your opponent. I caught some of the Oregon State/San Jose State game and they had MWC Commissioner Gloria Navarez in the booth and took the opportunity to ask her about the world of realignment and her recent meeting with OSU and WSU. She was, of course, all politically correct and coy in her responses, but had a big Cheshire cat smile on her face the whole time. Probably means nothing, but could mean something. Obviously nothing substantive came out of the interview.
  14. Will we survive the heat and humidity or wither away like Cal? The defense "finds something" and the Mean Green come out on top 51-50.
  15. You know, we'd be pretty good as long as we play teams that are significantly worse than us.
  16. So we've gone from not accepting mediocracy to excusing a blow-out loss in our home opener where we didn't look like we belonged on the same field as, it's OK, it's just one game? You know what they say, you only get one chance to make a good first impression. I'm sure all the new students that showed up had heard since the start of school that "our football team sucks, but the band is great" just had that confirmed and indelibly imprinted in their minds. Every effing time we have an opportunity to turn the corner or make a statement or just build on some minor success, we blow it.
  17. They need to go to the archives and watch how Kenny Buyers made tackles (before he was moved to the offensive side of the ball). Our players bouncing off is because they are going in too high and is another symptom of being smaller/lighter than the other guy. They can still be effective if they focus on technique and Buyers is a great example of it.
  18. I hear a lot of excuses.
  19. Hopefully, "this was one game" rationalization doesn't turn into "this was one season" rationalization in a few months.
  20. It was against the same defense, so there’s that.
  21. Exactly. As long as you’re looking in the mirror, lose the visor and mustache. The Ted Lasso look isn’t working.
  22. So you’re saying we fired one coach to replace him with a coach that does the same thing? Makes sense.
  23. Not sure what the F that tweet means, but it’s dangerously close to “it’s hard in Denton”. This coaching staff is losing it after one game.
  24. Did we have a game plan? What was it? Or were we counting exclusively on Texas heat?
  25. Because the strategy was to hire a HC with Texas ties and recruit DFW high schools. We are so out of touch with the state of college football.
