The D could earn some of their own rest if they actually stopped the opponent. Not defending the offense, but the D needs to take care of business themselves. Keith

All you DD lovers - I have a question?
keith replied to GoMeanGreen1999's topic in Mean Green Football
Our All Time Football Record*: 456-394-33 DD Era Record*: 37-46-0 Keith *According to CFB Data Warehouse as of the end of the 2004 season. -
The defense would not be out there forever if it stopped the opposing offense. I'm NOT defending the offense here. There is plenty of blame to spread around. It appears that the offense cannot depend on the defense and the defense cannot depend on the offense, so I guess they both should just focus on taking care of their own business. If each did that, we might even put up a fight. Keith

Come on. The game plan (yes, singular, "the" game plan) and the 15 or so plays in it was created seven years ago. It's not something that changes with personnel or opponent. Why should it? That's a lot of work. Keith

People, people, people. Don't you get it? This is all part of the annual ritual of North Texas football. We have to lose these games in embarassing fashion in order to create and perpetuate the "us vs. them" mentality DD needs going into conference play. As angry, disgruntled and frustrated fans, we're just doing our part. If we didn't there wouldn't be any "them" and then the whole thing falls apart. Doing our part, just doing our part. Keith

I was able to watch last week via streaming video through www.meangreensports.com. Actually all NT home games are going to be available this way. Not the greatest, but worth it if that's the only option. Does anyone know if KSU does something similar? Keith
-
Depends if it is enforced from the line of scrimmage or the spot of the foul. If it's spot of the foul and he was inside the 5 then half the distance ... Anyway I think the point is was there an option to take the penalty and the ball somewhere inside the red zone or take the 2 pts and receive the free kick. Keith
-
We should all just agree to the 24-hour rule. B!tch and moan (or celebrate) for 24 hours, then move on to the next opponent. I've put the Fiasco at Fouts behind. What are the key match-ups with KSU? I'm completely out of touch with what they've done so far this year. Keith

Is it insane to have Cobbs AND Thomas in the backfield at the same time and then send Patrick in motion. I mean someone has to leave the "box" and follow him, don't they? Either you spread out the D a little for JT or you get Patrick in man coverage in the flat. Keith *Edit: Added my reply before I read the entire thread and now see that you said pretty much the same thing Rick. I mean this isn't rocket science, is it? We were supposed to have an "explosive" offense this year. Use the weapons we have and it just might be.

What do you think would have happened if the roles were reversed and LSU was asked to re-arrange its schedule to accomodate UL-Monroe? That's what I thought too. Seems to me like ULM is getting a raw deal. Keith

Technically, Silver, I wasn't saying anything negative about "the Band." On the contrary, I think marching bands are an integral part of the college football game day experience. Nothing better than a game with both bands. I admire their musical talents and their ability to do what that do in uniforms that have to be really, really hot and itchy. I guess we're all looking for something to take our minds off 54 - 2 and another opportunity squandered. Keith

Look, I'm isolated up here. I fly my NT flag at my house. All my sports-centric neighbors constantly give me the WTF look, especially after games like that. I've been through the dark days where the only thing people could say was, "the band sounded great!" as if that was the real purpose of the game. I've sat among students who showed up at the beginning of half-time and left at the end of half-time and were only there to listen to something they have heard before. "The band" is a crutch we always fall back on. I admit I have a problem with that. It's something I'm working on but it will take time I'm pissed and frustrated and lashing out. Give me some latitude. BTW, I don't think it was your post I was responding to. Keith

Yes. Football references: 1 Branding references: 2 Green Brigade references: 6 Keith

Oh Gawd, if this turns into our band is better than their band I'm going to puke. Keith

54 - 2 at home in front of 23K+ 'nuff said ... you cannot spin this one. Keith

Our on-field performance* is inversely proportional to: A.) Attendance B.) Media Attention C.) Opportunity Quotient D.) Opponent Conference Affiliation (Sun Belt vs. OOC) E.) All of the Above Keith *2003 Baylor game is considered a statistical outlier.

If there was a record for the most times the opponent goes for it on 4th down in a season, I think we'd be number one in that category every year. Keith

Worked well for me. I was wireless to my laptop and hooked the VGA out to the VGA input of a Dell Plasma HDTV. I was expecting to see a live video stream over the Internet and that's pretty much what I got. It looked to me that we were receiving the same video feed that is shown on the "jumbotron." Keith

The most damaging play in UNT football history?
keith replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Play. Most damaging play. Not plays. Keith -
On that 4th and 1 from the MTSU 29....did anyone else notice that the ref came in and signaled first down awfully fast? I didn't even think the play was over and all of a sudden the ref appears on the right side of the TV screen signaling 1st down. No measurement or anything. Not to take anything away from the INT returned for the TD because that changed the course of the game IMHO, but it wasn't 99 yards, was it? At least it didn't look that way to me. I though he picked it around the 4 yard line. The on-sides kick was a great call. Too bad we were off-sides. Still a great call by the coaching staff. Johnny Quinn seems to land on his back a lot. That catch he made to setup the Cobbs TD was classic Quinn. Great win for the Mean Green. It wasn't too long ago that we found ways to lose these games, now we find ways to win. It wasn't always pretty, but we pulled it out in the end. Go Mean Green! Keith

LOL...at least it's buried in a "Helmet" thread and not a "Pants" thread. Keith

Tulane Football Will HQ At Louisiana Tech
keith replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Man, how can you NOT think that way now? As distasteful as it is, it seems like from here on out it is all about politics. Just look at all the politicians descending upon The Big Easy. Louisiana is a strange place when it comes to politics. Just saying that we should not forget this if we find ourselves on the outside looking in a few years from now. Keith
