  1. I went to the game Friday night and kept an eye on AA. I didn't seem him do much of anything except tie up a blocker. Maybe the Giants like his potential. I hope he makes the team. Keith
  2. I agree, get the co-eds in there. He'll be speechless (which may not be a bad thing). By his logic, he should refer to his beloved Texas Rangers as the Washington Senators. I've got two diplomas hanging on my wall with "North Texas State University" on them so it doesn't bother me. Keith
  3. They should just leave that camera up the entire season. For us out-of-staters it would be great to get any visuals (for the games not on TV). Is there any regulation against having a web cam up like that during a game? Keith
  4. Just all part of home field advantage. We're used to the crunch and squish. Our opponents are not. That's worth at least 7 points. Keith
  5. Maybe someone finally figured out that they could turn the lights on and get the work done at night instead of the day when the field is about 140 degrees. Too bad they didn't think of that earlier. Of course now they have to fend off about a million crickets. Keith
  6. He needs to make more plays in pre-season if he wants to stay a Giant. So far he hasn't exactly lit it up. Keith
  7. Pretty decent write up....by an outsider no less. He just needs to learn that the conference name is two words ... Sun Belt ... not Sunbelt, but then again a lot of people make that mistake. Keith
  8. I didn't say anything about magical JUCO QBs. My point was that last year was the opportunity to get Byerly some playing time (even if it was mop up) given that he was the likely starter going into this year. For whatever reason, that didn't seem to happen - maybe it did. I honestly don't know how much playing time he got, that's why I was asking. If he didn't get much then the reasons I can come up with are: There was never really the opportunity.....it was necessary to keep Hall in the entire game to deliver the win (or loss). DD didn't have confidence in Byerly (he wasn't the heir-apparent we've all though he was). There was aready suspicion that he might be an academic casualty this year. Just thinking out loud and frustrated that we're in the position we are. Keith
  9. Even IF Byerly had made the grades, how much game time experience would he have had coming into this year as our starting quarterback? Does anyone know how many snaps he had under his belt? Keith
  10. Only Felix Unger could read lips better....."I fear much trouble with the fuselage." Yikes. Keith
  11. Maybe we should hand out those periscope mirrors or something to anyone who sits in the first 5-10 rows.....that would be funny to see. Keith
  12. Oh my. Could we possibly start the season with a true freshman under center? Is Ieans still in the mix? As bad as zero experience is there's gotta be some benefit a RS freshman has over a true freshman at such a key position. On top of all that, our O-line is undersized. They all better have speed and excellent technique. Keith
  13. So, it's not unheard of..... Understand what Andrew was able to accomplish, but at least we went into the season with experience at QB. And when Hall went down he could provide some help on the sidelines. Even if Byerly had made the grades he had almost no experience. So, for whatever reason, there was little or no grooming of the successor going on last year. There were opportunities to get next year's likely starter some experience weren't there? Do our student athletes have tutors available to them? It seems to me that you would want to keep close tabs on your borderline students. We were in late on the kid that ended up at Nebraska. Maybe we were putting all our eggs in that basket. Keith
  14. I'm still amazed that we find ourselves in a situation of not having a quarterback on our team that has taken a snap in a D-I college football game (at least I think we are in that situation). Maybe it's more common than I think, but is there any other D-I college football team in the country that has zero experience with all of its quarterbacks? The one thing you hear a lot from players moving from high school to college or college to the pros is, "it all happens so much faster." You need experience to deal with that and we don't have any. Keith
  15. Mean (violence) Green (ethnic - Martians). We'll be next. Keith
  16. Guidelines were not immediately available on which logos and nicknames would be considered "hostile or abusive." Hmmm.....is "Mean" Green considered hostile? What a joke. These people need to find something better to do with their lives. Keith
  17. We are still way undersized on the OL for a D-IA program IMHO. We've improved a lot over the last several years, but need to keep adding height and weight up front. I just remember how big Southern Miss looked during the New Orleans Bowl. Keith
  18. Pre-season and all, but 4 on the 1st team offense and zero on defense....who would have thunk! Keith
  19. .....or needed to! Seriously, for those that have been around for a while, did you ever think we would see this much progress in the athletic department and facilities? Simply outstanding! Keith
  20. There's 9 of us spending the 4th of July in the Melbourne area. We fly the colors (NT Battle flag) where ever we set up for the day. We've drawn a lot of interesting comments from people walking by....from fellow Texans that recognize it, to "I though you were Irish or something." and "what country are you from?" Apparently we made the local news last night (or at least the flag did). We had people come up to us today who said they recognized our flag from the news last night and wanted to say hi. The locals may not know the Mean Green Nation now, but after a couple years of playing Florida teams, they will. Go Mean Green! Keith
  21. Brad Kassell article is the first link in the sports section at Netscape's portal. http://my.netscape.com/corewidgets/news/st...608370001980975 Keith
  22. If my memory serves me, whitman mayo has been around quite a while. Maybe as far back as the old "Harry's Mean Green" days. Welcome Back. But you know what they say, "the first thing to go is your memory." I forget what the second thing is. Keith
  23. NT up by 1 - (67 - 66) with 5:53 to play. Keith
